Abstract

This study aims to identify the pronunciation issues with English fricatives that undergraduate students encounter as a result of the intricate link between the English letter and sound. The purpose of this study is to gather comprehensive data regarding students' pronunciation difficulties in terms of the degree of difficulty associated with each English fricative sound, as well as the types of words in which they occur (monosyllabic words, disyllabic words, and multisyllabic words). In order to explain the English sounds that were contributing to the students' pronunciation issues, a descriptive qualitative method was adopted in this study. The information was gathered by recording students speaking 48 words with English fricatives. The results showed that sound /θ/ accounts for 93,9% of the challenges, followed by sound /v/ at 81,8% and sound /ð/ at 60,6%. The main cause of the students' difficulties is the irregularity of the letter-sound relationship and this can be prevented by altering the teaching strategy and making use of listening practice.

Abstract

The decreasing number of student admissions, especially when the Covid-19 pandemic hit and the increasing number of universities in Jakarta, the competition is getting tighter. For this reason, implementing the Blue Ocean Strategy by opening a Digital Business major is the right way to get out of the competition and find new, unexplored opportunities and markets. The aim of this research is to describe the process of implementing BOS at the opening of the Digital Business major. The method used in this research is a qualitative approach using interviews, observation and documentation studies as data collection techniques. The research results show that the formulation of the blue ocean strategy is going well, especially the decision to open a Digital Business major through the stages of market boundary reconstruction, ERRC scheme, 3 non-consumer levels and strategic series. This is proven by the number of students who choose this major amounting to approximately 300 people with a class size of 10. Relevant curriculum development, industrial collaboration, use of technology in learning, lecturer training and effective promotion are suggestions that should be considered for the success of this implementation in long-term

Abstract

This training program was designed to improve the competence of elementary school teachers in creating visual-based instructional media using the Canva application. Held for teachers in Majenang District, Cilacap Regency, the training combined theoretical lectures, live demonstrations, and hands-on practice to ensure comprehensive understanding and skill acquisition. At the outset, a pre-test was conducted to assess the participants’ initial knowledge and digital design skills. The results showed an average score of 58.3, indicating limited experience with design tools and low literacy in visual media creation. Following the training, a significant improvement was observed. A total of 90% of the participants successfully produced at least two educational media products, such as posters, infographics, and activity cards. The post-test results revealed an average score of 86.7, demonstrating a substantial increase in understanding and practical ability. Additionally, the satisfaction survey showed that 92% of participants were very satisfied with the content, delivery method, and technical assistance provided during the sessions. This outcome highlights the effectiveness of the training in empowering teachers to utilize Canva for innovative and engaging learning materials. The participants are now better equipped to apply these skills in their classrooms, contributing to a more visually appealing and interactive learning environment.

Abstract

The educational facilities and infrastructure at SDN 03 Sadahayu, Majenang, face serious challenges due to building damage and a lack of supporting facilities, exacerbated by its location in a mountainous area with difficult road access. The purpose of this study was to analyze the impact of limited facilities and infrastructure on the teaching and learning process and to understand the experiences of teachers and students in this situation. A phenomenological approach was used as the primary method, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation of teachers, students, and the school's physical facilities. The sample included all teaching staff and active students during the study. The results showed that limited classroom space, laboratories, sports facilities, and sanitation and religious facilities significantly affected teachers' learning motivation and students' learning experiences. Extreme geographic conditions slowed access and exacerbated these obstacles. Discussions led to the need for infrastructure improvements and community empowerment as key strategies to ensure educational sustainability. The conclusions affirmed the urgency of improving facilities to support optimal learning processes and improve the well-being of students in isolated areas.
