Abstract

Attention is an important aspect of cognitive development in the perspective of information processing, whereas mood is an affective aspect relating to expectations about positive or negative feelings. Decreased attention and mood in post-stroke patients can cause instability, cognitive impairment, and long-term rehabilitation. These impacts affect the patients’ activity daily living (ADL). Priority of post stroke patient care in hospital was priority on physical problem rather than psychological, social and spiritual problems. Nurses as caregivers in the hospitals  should understand in manage bio-psycho-socio-cultural-spiritual problems in post-stroke patients. This descriptive study that used a descriptive qualitative research was conducted to describe the barrier of managing attention and mood in post stroke from the perspective of nurses. This research was a pilot study using qualitative design and involved six nurses at Temanggung General Hospital, Indonesia. The data collection was carried out using in-depth semi-structured interviews. The data analyzed using inductive content analysis. Five themes emerging from data included the nurse's focus on the physical problem, lack of awareness to manage attention and mood, unavailability of early assessment for attention and mood, family participation in nursing care and lack of information about the interventions in handling attention and mood. The initial assessment of attention and mood greatly encourages nurses to provide alternative or complementary nursing that can be administered in the hospital. Nurses’ understanding of knowledge and skills are essential to prevent the impact of reduced attention and mood. The management of attention and mood should be supported by all professional health providers, and facilities in hospitals, as well as the role of the family.

Abstract

Pulmonary rehabilitation is a process of multi-disciplinary and comprehensive evidence-based for patients with chronic respiratory disease who are symptomatic and decreased daily of living activities. There is some literature discusses about pulmonary rehabilitation, but no one has analyzed the concept of pulmonary rehabilitation, particularly in the field of nursing. The concept of this analysis aims to analyze the concept of pulmonary rehabilitation by using Walker and Avant's concept analysis framework. There are some attributes influence pulmonary rehabilitation, such as the patient's condition, disease severity, and the environment that supports pulmonary rehabilitation. Antecedents concerning pulmonary rehabilitation include a history of past illnesses and the patient's lifestyle. The consequence towards pulmonary rehabilitation can be seen in two aspects, namely the patient and the health care system. Therefore, the pulmonary rehabilitation conceptual model should be based on attributes and antecedents to improve the quality of life of patients and quality of nursing services.

The decrease in organizational commitment among nurses can cause many losses to the organization, including increased organizational spending, breakdown in patient care, and cause performance trends that appear not for the benefit of the organization or unit, but more for personal self-interest. Objective: To analyze the relationship of the application of Islamic Based Caring (IBC) model with organizational commitment among nurses. Methods: This was a correlation analytic research with cross sectional design. There were 108 nurses selected using a proportionate stratified random sampling. Islamic Based Caring was measured using a questionnaire developed based on the theory of Suhartini Ismail (2016), and organizational commitment was measured using a questionnaire developed based on the concept of Caldwell, O’Reilly & Chatmann (1990) and Mowday, Porter dan Steers (1982) in Asmaningrum (2009). Logistic regression and forward stepwise (conditional) method were used for data analysis. Results: There was a statistically significant correlation of a healing presence (p=0.000), caring relationship (p=0.010), caring environment (p=0.045) and belief in God (p=0.000). Belief in God (Allah SWT) has the highest correlation (OR=6.660) with organizational commitment among nurses. Conclusion: There is a positive and significant relationship between the implementation of Islamic Based Caring with the organization's commitment among nurses.
