Abstract

This program is motivated by the problem of low productivity and health of cattle in Munder Village, which is mostly caused by a lack of essential mineral intake that is vital for livestock growth and production. This community service activity was attended by 18 farmers and ranchers. This activity seeks to provide a solution through the introduction and training of making mineral block supplements to local farmers. The process of making this mineral block supplement uses ingredients that are easily found around the village and is designed so that the production costs are affordable. By utilizing local resources, it is hoped that farmers can make this supplement independently after the community development program ends. The mineral block supplement made is formulated to meet the nutritional needs of cattle, which aims to increase endurance, accelerate growth, and improve the quality of livestock production, such as meat and milk.

Abstract

Farm business analysis is an analytical approach used to examine the extent to which returns from a farming enterprise can be obtained from the costs sacrificed in the relevant farm business. There are two types of farm business analysis, namely: (a) financial analysis or private analysis and (b) economic analysis. In both financial and economic farm business analysis, the calculation does not only include actual costs or explicit costs, but also notional costs or implicit costs. In financial analysis, the estimated values of costs and revenues are based on the prevailing local real prices. In economic analysis, however, the estimated values of costs and revenues are based on shadow prices. Shadow prices are prices that would prevail in a perfectly competitive market. In this regard, it is important to study comprehensively the principles of calculation used to estimate costs and revenues in farm business analysis, both from financial and economic perspectives. This scientific article aims to provide a comprehensive explanation of these calculation principles.

Abstract

Rice yields are influenced by seed varieties and biofortification. In 2019, the Indonesian government launched Inpari IR Nutrizinc rice to increase productivity and health benefits. This variety supports the government’s program to combat stunting in Jember Regency, one of the regencies with high stunting rates. This study aims to evaluate the seed performance and farmer satisfaction with Inpari IR Nutrizinc rice in Jember Regency, with a focus on farmers’ attitudes. The study was conducted in the villages of Mumbulsari, Ajung, Kebon Agung, and Gugut in Jember Regency using quantitative descriptive methods and the Fishbein multi-attribute approach. The study involved 40 farmers who were members of farmer groups that received Inpari IR Nutrizinc seeds in 2022. These attributes included productivity, resistance to pests and diseases, fertilizer use, harvest time, seed viability, seed quality, tolerance to water stress, plant drought, pesticide/insecticide use, ease of marketing unhusked rice, access to seeds and the selling price of unhusked rice, and the purchase price of Nutrizinc seeds. The research results show that farmers’ attitude toward Inpari IR Nutrizinc rice was rated at 195.5, indicating a neutral attitude. The highest-rated attribute among farmers was seed quality, while the lowest-rated attribute was the ease of marketing paddy.
