Abstract

This research was aimed to determine whether composting organic materials and varieties of riceplants of different IP 400 can reduce the rate of air temperature in rice vegetative phase and also toknow which varieties or organic matter are likely to be better in reducing the rate of air temperatureand increase rice production IP 400. This research was conducted in paddy fields and DevelopmentResearch Institute, Village Market District Leaning Fence Merbau Deli Serdang (30 29 '51.33 "Nand 980 54' 19.87" E) with a height of 30 meters above sea level where conducted from February2012 to complete. This research used a randomized block design factorial with six combinations oftreatments and three replications thus obtained eighteen experimental unit. Treatment consists ofV1B0 (Inpari 1 + Without Organic Materials), V1B1 (Inpari 1 + straw compost 9 kg), V1B2 (Inpari 1+ Cow Manure 9 kg), V2B0 (Ciherang + Without Organic Materials), V2B1 (Ciherang + Compoststraw 9 kg), V2B2 (Ciherang + Cow manure 9 kg). The results of this research indicate varieties ofrice IP 400 and composted organic materials that have been able to suppress the air temperature andincrease rice production IP 400, but did not suppress emission rate at 35 days after planting.Keywords: IP 400, cow manure, straw compost, air temperature

Abstract

This research topic is the effectiveness of Aspergillus niger and Penicillium sp. in increasingphosphate and growth of corn on Andisol. The objective is to compare the effect of Aspergillusniger application with Penicillium sp. in increasing phosphate and corn growth on Andisol.Andisols material was taken from Kuta Rakyat Village, Namanteran Subdistrict, Karo District. Thisresearch was conducted at green house, Soil Biology Laboratory, and Soil Fertility and ChemistryLaboratory. The design used was non factorial blocky randomized which consists of seventreatments and four replications, they are M0 (kontrol), MA1 (Aspergillus niger 8 mL), MA2(Aspergillus niger 17 mL), MA3 (Aspergillus niger 25 mL), MP4 (Penicillium sp. 10 mL), MP5(Penicillium sp. 18 mL), MP6 (Penicillium sp. 30 mL). Parameters measured in this experiment aresoil pH, soil available-P, plant P absorption, shoot dry weights, and root dry weights.The results of this research showed that the application of Aspergillus niger and Penicillium sp. nonsignificantly affected available P, P-uptake, soil pH, and shoot dry weights, but significantlyaffected root dry weights and diameter of stem.Keywords : aspergillus niger, penicillium sp., Andisols

Abstract

The objective of this study is to determine the effect of rice varieties and different organic matter ofrice fields in one growing season to the 1000 grain weight and paddy rice biomass IP 400. Theresearch was conducted at paddy fields located at UPT Main Rice Seed Big of Pasar MiringTanjung Morawa Subdistrict, Deli Serdang District. This study uses a randomized block design(RBD) with two factors, namely rice varieties Inpari I and Ciherang and organic matter. Eachtreatment consisted of non-organic material, composted straw, cow manure.The results showed thatthe use of varieties of very significant effect on the dry weight of 1000 grain rice planting season IP400 I, and the very significant effect on rice biomass IP 400. Treatment of organic material verysignificant effect on the dry weight of 1000 grain rice IP 400 in the first growing season, and a verysignificant effect terhdap rice biomass IP 400. Interaction between rice varieties and application oforganic manures no significant effect on the dry weight of 1000 grains and rice biomasaa IP 400.Keywords: IP 400, 1000 grain weight, biomass rice

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purpose of the study was to find out the land suitability classes in Lintong Nihuta regency ofHumbang Hasundutan for coffee (Coffea arabica). 5 SPT (set of land) is determined by pursuant tomap of land, ground type, map of inclination of slope and map of place height yielded fromtopography map with the scale 1 : 50000, is later conducted by overlay. Assessment of landsuitability pursuant to staff criterion center the research of land of Bogor year 1983 with the limitmethod of pursuant to Djaenuddin et al. 2003. The result of analysis showed the unity of all thesample has appropriate class of land potential at SPT (set of land) 1, 2, and 4 is N (rc), class ofland potential at SPT (set of land) 3 and 5 is S3(wa,rc).

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research is aimed to know the changes classification of topogenous peat soil that increased intopaddy field and be converted into arabica coffee (Coffea arabica) and horticulture farm begin fromOrder class, Sub Order, Great Group unto Sub Group class. This research was conducted in DesaHutabagasan, Kecamatan Doloksanggul, Kabupaten Humbang Hasundutan and soil analyseproperties was held in Chemical and Soil fertility Laboratory, Agriculture Faculty of NorthSumatera University. Observation and description of three profiles of each three difference landuses such as paddy field (P1), arabica coffe farm (P2) and horticulture farm (P3). Each profile isobserved about morphology and than classificatied in Soil Taxonomy (2010) begin from Orderclass, Sub Order, Great Group unto Sub Group class. From research result indicate that the landconversion didn’t change soil classification in Desa Hutabagasan, Kecamatan Doloksanggul,Kabupaten Humbang Hasundutan. The Topogenous peat soil in this area have soil classificationTypic Haplosaprist.Keywords: peat soil, land conversion, paddy soil

Abstract

Ultisol is a quite large of soil and have many constraints to be used as agricultural soil. Some of theconstraints are: Low level of the organic content, soil acidity, high level of Al saturation and lowCEC so that this land productivity is quite low. To increase the productivity can be done by increasethe availability of nutrient by adding organic compost i.e. Durian Shell compost and Cacao Shellcompost. The experiment was conducted in Completely Randomized Design methode with 3replications consistedof nine treatment. I.e by adding Durian’s Shell compost and Cacao’s Shellcompost consisting of ;1,5 g (Z1), 3,0 g (Z2), 4,5 g (Z3), 6,0 g (Z4)Durian’s Shell compost in every300 g Ultisol, and 1,5 g (C1), 3,0 g (C2), 4,5 g (C3), 6,0 (C4) Cacao’s Shell in every 300 g Ultisol,and Blanko treatment (Z0). The result shows that the addition of Durian’s Shell Compost andCacao’s Shell Compost give very real effect on Al-dd, and generally tend to increase the pH, CEC,Organic C, Total N of the soil and decrease the level of exchangeable Al.Keywords: ultisol, compost, aspects of soil fertility

Abstract

Tempe industry liquid waste contains several nutrients that can be absorbed by plant roots.Application of mycorrhiza with tempe industry liquid waste to maize simultaneously planted onInceptisol is expected to increase nitrogen and phosphate available. The aim of this study was toexamine the best concentration of tempe industry liquid waste and mycorrhiza dosage in increasingN and P availability in Inceptisol soil and maize producion. The experiment was conducted in theexperimental fields of the Faculty of Agriculture USU ( ± 25 m asl) from March - July 2013 andusing a randomized block design (RBD) with 2 factors and 3 replications. The first factor wasconcentration of liquid tempe industry waste (0, 20, 40 and 60 mL of tempe industry liquid wastetempe/100 mL of water) and the second factor was mycorrhiza dosage (0, 10 and 20gmycorrhiza/plant). The results showed that the tempe industry liquid waste increased the root dryweight of maize significantly. Application mycorrhiza affected the concentration of N on leafsignificantly. The tempe industry liquid waste and mycorrhiza and its interaction were notsignificant effect on the parameters of the soil pH, C-organic, total-N soil, uptake of N, P-available,the concentration of P on leaf, uptake of P, population of microorganisms,degree of mycorrhizainfection, canopy dry weight of maize, weight of cobs, plant height and stem diameter. The bestconcentration of tempe industry liquid waste was 60% which increased the cob weight of themaize 1.15 to 1.25 times higher than the weight of cobs on the others concentration of tempeindustry liquid waste or without application of tempe industry liquid waste.Keywords : tempe industry liquid waste, mycorrhiza, the availability of N , the availability of P, theproduction of corn .

Abstract

This research aims to know the difference of level of C-Organic, N and P in Humitropepts atdifferent altitudes in sub-district of Lintong Nihuta. The study done in sub-district of LintongNihuta at altitudes of 1300 to > 1500 meters above sea level in September – November 2013. Theresults showed that the C-Organic and N-total of Humitropepts sub-district of Lintong Nihuta tendto rise along with the added altitude and tend to decrease when increasing the depth of the soil. Incontrast, P-available tends to decreases with increasing altitude and the moment we get tend toincrease the depth of the soil.Key words: c-organic, nitrogen, phosphate, humitropepts, altitude.

Abstract

This research aims to classify inceptisol soil at sub-district of Lintong Ni Huta, Regency ofHumbang Hasudutan on the various elevation. On the elevation of 1200-1300, 1300-1400, 1400-1500, and >1500m on above sea level. The sampling of soil was took at 3 soil profile holes on FieldMap unit and Key to Soil Taxonomy 2010 . Of the result of this research, it obtain the classification ofprofile 1, 2, and 3 with Ordo, Sub Ordo, and Great Groupin the same is Inceptisol, Udept,and Dystrudept. OnSub Group category the classification of profile 1 is Psammentic Dystrudept. On Sub Group category theclassification of profile 2 is Pachic Dystrudept. On Sub Group category the classification of profile 3 isFluventic Dystrudept.Key words : Various elevation, Inceptisol
