Abstract

Lumban Julu Subdistrict is one of  the producer Arabica coffee in Toba Samosir District. Know the soil fertility status Very important to increase production Arabica coffee. This research aims to mapping the soil fertility in arabica coffee field in Lumban Julu Subdistrict, Toba Samosir district. It was located at Arabica Coffee Field in Lumban Julu Sub-district, Toba Samosir District. Soil samples were taken from each Soil Map Unit (SMU) and it will be analyzed at the Laboratory. Observed parameters are cation exchange capacity (CEC), bases saturation, C-organic, P-total and K-total. The research showed that all soil fertility status of SMU 1 until SMU 8 were low criterion.Keywords: arabica coffee, mapping, soil fertility status

Abstract

The effect of giving goat manure and ZA fertilizer on the chemical properties of paddy soil and red onion production (Allium ascalonicum L.). The purpose was to determine the effect of goat manure and ZA fertilizer on the chemical properties and production of red onion on paddy fields. This research was conducted from April to June 2018 using factorial randomized block design (RBD) and repeated three times. The first factor is the dose of goat manure consisting of: 0, 2.5, 5, 7.5 tons / ha, and the second factor is the dose of ZA fertilizer consisting of: 0, 200, 400, 600 kg / ha. The results showed that the application of goat manure significantly affected the increase of C-organic, cation exchange capacity. ZA fertilizer has a significant effect on pH reduction.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Soil's physical properties are one of the factors that influence the productivity of shallots. This research aims to determine the correlation of soil's physical properties towards productivity of shallots in Watershed of Lake Toba. This research was carried out in the center of the shallot planting area in the area of ​​Lake Toba, Muara District, Bakti Raja District, Silahisabungan District, Merek District, Haranggaol District, and Samosir Island, which have at altitude 911 – 1432 meters above sea level. This research used survey methods which includes literature studies, preparation of the questionnaire, survey around of Lake Toba and processing data from survey in Lake Toba area. The results showed that soil's physical properties and the productivity of shallots had a correlation with value of r = 0.71. The best soil texture for the cultivation of shallots in Watershed of Lake Toba  is sandy loam. Keywords : shallots, soil's physical properties, Watershed of Lake Toba

Abstract

This research was conducted toEffects of Biochar from some materials and Kieserit to the Soil Chemical Properties and Shallot Production (Allium ascalonicum L.) in Paddy Fields. This research was conducted at the paddy field of Medan SelayangSubdistrict, which about ± 32 meters above sea level. This research was conducted from May to August 2018. The method used in this research was factorial randomized block design with two factors, i.e: Kieserit (0g /plot, 5g/plot, 10g/plot, 15g/plot) and biochar administration (rice husk biochar 1 kg / plot, 1 kg rice straw biochar/plot, biochar oil palm empty fruit bunch 1 kg/plot). Parameters observed were pH H2O, N-total, C-organic, CECand dry weight bulb of tubers per clump. The results showed that biochar had a significant effect on pH H2O, CEC and dry weight of tubers per hill, but no significant effect on N-total, C-organic and number of tubers per clump. Kieserit fertilizer has no significant effect on all parameters. The interaction between biochar and Kieserit has no significant effect on all parameters. Rice straw biochar is better in improving soil chemical properties and onion production.Keywords: Biochar, Kieserite Fertilizer, Soil Chemical Properties,Shallot

Abstract

Wilayah Sub DAS Sibarau termasuk wilayah yang memiliki lahan agak kritis atau semi kritis yang cukup luas yaitu sekitar 13.163,59 ha dari keseluruhan luas Sub DAS yaitu 25.005,89 ha. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji sifat kimia dan fisika tanah Ultisol pada beberapa vegetasi di Desa Amborokan Pane Raya, Kecamatan Raya Kahean. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei hingga September 2017 dengan menggunakan metode survei. Sampel tanah diambil sebanyak 3 titik untuk setiap vegetasi dan kemiringan yang berbeda pada kedalaman 1-10 cm dan 10-20 cm dengan menggunakan metode acak sederhana. Parameter tanah yang diukur adalah kemasaman tanah (elektrometri), dan kandungan karbon organik tanah (Walkley and Black), dan tekstur tanah (hydrometer bouyoucos). Analisis tanah dilakukan di Laboratorium PT. Socfin Indonesia. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pada kemiringan 0-8% rata-rata nilai pH tanah sebesar 4,61% dan C-organik 1,04% sedangkan pada kemiringan 8-15% rata-rata nilai pH tanah sebesar 4,46% dan C-organik 0,91%. Pada kemiringan 0-8% nilai rata-rata fraksi liat 20,27%, fraksi debu 15,02% dan fraksi pasir 64,41% sedangkan pada kemiringan 8-15% nilai rata-rata fraksi liat 27,48%, fraksi debu 19,87%, dan fraksi pasir 52,63%.

Abstract

Vegetation is one of the factors affecting the actual erosion of a land. The changes in forest land use patterns into coffee lands can increase the erosion hazard. The aim of this research was to get information about erosion hazard level in forest and coffee arabica lands in Sibolangit Sub District by using USLE (Universal Soil Loss Equation) method. The Research was conducted in January-July 2017 in Sibolangit District at three villages ie Negeri Suah, Bukum and Cinta Rakyat. In this research, were 6 samples in Arabica coffee field sample (1, 2 and 3) and in Forest sample (1, 2 and 3). The research was conducted by using survey method and continued with soil erosion calculation by USLE (Universal Soil Loss Equation) prediction equation. The results showed that the value of erosion in the coffee arabica land in Cinta Rakyat Village on the slope of 60% was 432,87 ton.ha-1.year-1 (very high). The highest erosion hazard level in Bukum Village on the slope of 25% was 88,144 ton.ha-1.year-1 and the highest erosion hazard level in the Negeri Suah Village on the slope of 46% was 193,083 ton.ha-1.year-1. The value of erosion in the area forest in the Cinta Rakyat Forest on the slope 58% was 1,087 ton.ha-1.year-1with lowest erosion hazard. The lowest erosion hazard level in the Bukum Forest on the slope of 21% was 0,190 ton.ha-1.year-1and the lowest erosion hazard level in the Negeri Suah Forest on the slope of 36 % was 0,309 ton.ha-1.year-1.
