Abstract

Agricultural activity in several villages in the Riawajo Watershed (DAS) is very high. The high agricultural activity will affect the quality of the watershed. For this reason, it is necessary to conduct research on evaluating land capability classes in the Riawajo watershed, Sikka Regency. The variables observed were soil texture, salinity, soil structure, slope, effective depth of soil, erosion damage, rock conditions, flood threat, and drainage. The data is processed by the arithmetic matching method. The results showed that the agricultural lands in the villages in the Riawajo watershed were in the first class and were still able to support their agricultural activities.

Abstract

Adsorption kinetics of chromium (Cr) ion on char from banana stem has been studied. The char used in this research as obtained by pyrolisys at 4000C for 0,5 hours. The parameters studied included the surface area, which was determined by spectrophotometer UV-VIS using methylen blue method, equilibrium time, the adsorption isotherm, the adsorption capacity, the influence of pH on adsorption capacity, and the adsorption kinetics.The result showed that the surface area was 3,4559 m2/g. The adsorption capacity of banana stem (Musa paradisiaca) char on Cr6+ metal was 0,8019 mg/g, obtained at 40 minutes equilibrium time with initial concentration of Cr6+ metal (adsorption isotherm) of 75 ppm. At pH 4,00, it was obtained that the maximum adsorption capacity of the adsorbent on Cr6+ metal was 0,9088 mg/g. The adsorption followed a second-order kinetics with a rate constant of 0,0008 minute-1ppm-1

Abstract

Nowadays, the demand on fossil energy is increasing in number whereas its availability is decrease. People are still reckoned on it, despite of its rareness. Fossil energy utilized must be banned due to its negative effect. It is time for us to use renewable and eco-friendly energy (biofuel). Biogas is one of biofuel produced from anaerobic decomposition of organic matter by microorganisms. Organic waste as a by-product of our daily activities can be used as raw material to produce biogas. To use waste, means to decrease the environmental pollution problem. This research is aim to study the type of organic waste as a raw material to produce biogas through anaerobic digestion and its retention time. Organic wastes that were used in this research are domestic waste (food waste), agriculture waste (corn leaves) and industrial waste (solid and liquid waste of tofu). All of these wastes were mixed with cow dung as the starter/inoculum. As a control, the starter was used without organic waste addition. The testable retention times were 1st week until 9th week. The experimental design was Factorial Complete Randomized Design with confidence level 95%. The result showed that all the type of organic waste can be used to produce biogas through anaerobic digestion. Statistically, the average volume of biogas produced from industrial waste per week, 5794,3 ml was significantly different from any other organic waste (P=0,000). The best retention time was found on 8th week with the average volume of biogas was 3675,6 ml (P=0,006). There was no interaction between these two factors (P=0,1). This research is expected to open the people’s awareness about the management of useable organic waste as a raw material to produce biogas.

Abstract

This research aims to know 1) students interest, 2) discipline character, 3) students achievement, 4) correlation between students interest to discipline character and their achievement on atomic structure topic. Sample research were 20 students from class A of SMAK St. Petrus Kewapante which is collected randomly. Teaching method used cooperative learning type number head together (NHT). The technique of data collection was essay test, questionnaires and observation, which analyzed by descriptive quantitative and multiple linear regression. The result showed 1) based on teacher observation data indicated students interest as best category (90%) and good category (10). 2) students disciplinary as best category (80%) and good category (20%), while 100% as best category based on teachers observation data. 3) students achievements result showed average value in 51,75 and 80,50 as pre-test and post-test result respectively. 4) there is no correlation between students interesting to disciplinary character and their achievements in learning chemistry.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat dilaksanakan melalui pelatihan pembuatan pupuk organik padat berbahan dasar lokal yang ada di Kabupaten Sikka merupakan salah satu upaya yang dilakukan untuk dapat mewujudkan pertanian organik ramah lingkungan. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan berdasarkan kebutuhan petani yang ada di Kelompok Tani Alam Subur Desa Waigete Kabupaten Sikka. Tujuan khusus dilaksanakan kegiatan ini adalah untuk menambah wawasan dan keterampilan petani sayur-sayuran untuk dapat mengolah bahan organik yang ada di lingkungan sekitar untuk dimanfaatkan sebagai pupuk organik, sehingga dapat mengurangi ketergantungan petani terhadap pupuk anorganik. Diharapkan setelah kegiatan pelatihan pembuatan pupuk organik ini dapat menambah wawasan petani dalam meningkatkan kesuburan tanah dengan memanfaatkan bahan organik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan penggunaan sumber belajar yang kurang efektif pada masa pandemi dan kebosanan peserta didik dalam mengikuti proses pembelajaran Kimia terutama materi asam basa. Untuk mengatasinya, dilakukan penelitian pengembangan unit kegiatan belajar mandiri dalam bentuk elektronik (e-UKBM) untuk memfasilitasi pembelajaran selama work from home. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk: 1) mengetahui cara mengembangkan e-UKBM Kimia Asam Basa untuk peserta didik dan pendidik; dan 2) menguji kelayakan e-UKBM Kimia Asam Basa berdasarkan hasil pengembangan pada tahap 1. Kemasan pembelajaran e-UKBM mengadopsi model problem-based learning yang diintegrasikan dengan kearifan lokal daerah Sikka. Metode yang digunakan adalah research and development dengan model pengembangan 4D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). Subjek penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas XI SMAN 1 Maumere, SMAN 2 Maumere, dan SMAK St. Gabriel Maumere yang berjumlah 40 orang serta pendidik berjumlah 4 orang. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan persentase kevalidan diperoleh nilai 81,37% (valid). Selanjutnya, e-UKBM Kimia dinyatakan layak digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran Kimia berdasarkan hasil uji coba lapangan awal dan uji coba lapangan luas. Hasil uji coba lapangan awal oleh peserta didik adalah 102,37 (kategori baik) dan pendidik adalah 105,00 (kategori baik). Pada uji lapangan luas oleh peserta didik hasilnya adalah 129,05 (kategori sangat baik) dan oleh pendidik adalah 144,00 (kategori sangat baik)   This research is triggered by the ineffectiveness problem of learning resource utilization during the pandemic era and the students’ boredom in attending the chemistry lesson, especially for acid-base material. To overcome it, the researchers try to carry out a research on the development of electronic Independent Learning Activity Unit (e-UKBM) to facilitate learning activity during the ‘work from home’ period. The purposes of this research are to: 1) know how to develop acid-base chemistry e-UKBM for students and teachers; and 2) test the acid-base chemistry e-UKBM feasibility based on the development in phase 1. The packaging of the e-UKBM adopts problem-based learning method which is integrated with Sikkanese local culture. The applied research method is research and development (R&D) with 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The respondents of this research are the grade XI students of SMAN 1 Maumere, SMAN 2 Maumere, and SMK St. Gabriel Maumere amounting 40 students and 4 teachers. Based on the validity percentage calculation, the result shows the value of 91,37% (valid). Then, the chemistry e-UKBM is stated to be feasible to be used in chemistry learning process based on the initial as well as broad field tests. The result of initial field test by the students indicates the value of 102,37 (good category), and by the teachers indicates the value of 105,00 (good category). The result of broad field test by the students indicates the value of 129,05 (very good category), and by the teachers indicates the value of 144,00 (very good category)

Abstract

Papain-like protease is a SARSCOV-2 protease that functions for ubiquitination in host cells. Caffeine compounds have been widely reported to have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, and antiobesity activities. However, hexose and malic acid compounds in coffee rind as potential inhibitors of the papain-like protease SARSCOV2 have not been reported. This study investigated the potential of malic acid and hexose compounds as PLPro inhibitor agents in inhibiting SARSCOV2 ubiquitination. In silico studies were used to identify the potential of the two compounds by interacting hexose and malic acid compounds with papain-like protease (PLPro) proteins with the Molegro virtual Docker 5 program. Next, the ligand-protein complex visualization was done with discovery studio version 5.0. hexose and malic acid compounds showed interactions with papain-like protease proteins on several active site residues. The interactions showed inhibition of ubiquitination and stimulation of interferon in host cells. The two compound complexes – PLPro protein showed hydrophobic interactions, hydrogen bonds, and van der Waals forces, which contributed to the formation of bond energy and strong bonds between compounds and proteins. In this study, it was concluded that hexose and malic acid compounds have the potential to act as inhibitors of papain-like protease (PLPro) protein.

Abstract

Sosiosaintifik merupakan suatu kajian yang menghubungkan isu sosial budaya dan perspektif sains. Ragam bahasa dan etnis di Kabupaten Sikka memunculkan berbagai karakteristik budaya. Permasalahannya, konten pembelajaran sains (kimia) sekolah kurang mengintegrasikan nilai kearifan lokal sebagai muatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan. Disisi lain, budaya lokal cenderung punah akibat perubahan zaman dan teknologi. Landasan kuat menjelaskan bahwa kimia sebagai ilmu yang terlahir dari alam semesta dan perubahannya yang tentunya terkandung dalam nilai-nilai kearifan lokal. Tujuan penelitian ini, 1) Mengidentifikasi dan mengeksplorasi budaya lokal Sikka, 2) Menganalisis kajian ilmu kimia dalam budaya lokal Sikka. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa survey langsung, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Instrumen utama penelitian adalah lembar wawancara dan instrumen pendukungnya adalah peralatan dokumentasi. Data dianalisis dengan tahapan induktif, antara lain: reduksi, penyajian dan verifikasi data. Hasil penelitian bahwa, 1) Adanya eksplorasi warisan budaya lokal di Sikka dengan menggali potensi alam seperti produksi tenun ikat dari pewarna alam, pembuatan moke dengan memanfaatkan tanaman lontar dan tradisi menyirih dengan komponen bahan alam, 2) Analisis lebih lanjut dilakukan untuk mendalami kajian sains (kimia) pada hasil penelusuran budaya. Kesimpulannya, terdapat banyak konsep kimia dalam budaya masyarakat Sikka melalui studi isu sosiosaintifik. Pengembangan lebih lanjut berupa pemetaan konsep-konsep kimia dalam muatan kurikulum sekolah tingkat SMA.

Abstract

Kemampuan peserta didik memahami dan menerapkan pengetahuan kimia dan inovasinya dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan di masyarakat dinamakan literasi kimia. Numerasi sebagai bagian yang tidak dipisahkan atau beririsan dengan literasi. Capaian literasi sains dunia umumnya masih rendah, begitu pun dengan literasi kimia. Pada tingkat kabupaten Sikka belum ditemukan adanya data kemampuan literasi dan numerasi kimia. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengungkapkan prestasi literasi dan numerasi kimia peserta didik terkhususnya di wilayah Kabupaten Sikka melalui usulan terobosan penerapan isu sosiosaintifik dalam desain instrumen soal. Jenis penelitian ini adalah research and development. Metodenya, modifikasi Model of Educational Reconstruction (MER), meliputi: analisis struktur konten, desain instrumen soal, uji lapangan (expert review). Instrumen pengumpulan data berupa angket validasi dan butir soal uraian. Analisis data validasi menggunakan Formula Aiken. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 6 orang expert review. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh adalah rerata nilai kevalidan dengan skor 0.872 dan soal tergolong valid.

Abstract

Kesulitan peserta didik dalam memahami konsep pengetahuan kimia SMA umumnya telah menjadi kendala. Salah satunya, materi hukum-hukum dasar kimia. Penyebabnya, kurang tepatnya penerapan strategi pembelajaran kimia. Imbasnya pada rendahnya minat peserta didik belajar kimia. Dengan melihat potensi strategi gamifikasi edukatif, penelitian ini menawarkan penerapannya dengan mengadopsi model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TGT berbantuan kartu clup. Tujuan penelitian adalah analisis minat melalui penentuan klasifikasi minat, tingkat keberhasilan minat dan persentase setiap indikator minat. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian survey. Teknik pengumpulan data yaitu wawancara, angket dan observasi. Instrumen pengumpulan data yaitu lembar wawancara, lembar angket penilaian diri, angket penilaian sejawat dan lembar observasi. Analisis validasi instrumen mengunakan perhitungan presentase, analisis indikator minat mengunakan kategori rentang minat dan presentase. Hasil penelitian melewati beberapa tahap yaitu validitas instrumen: 1) angket penilaian diri (sangat valid, 86,6 %), 2) angket penilaian sejawat (sangat valid, 85,4 %), 3) lembar observasi (sangat valid, 86,6 %). Analisis minat belajar: 1) klasifikasi minat 12 peserta didik (tinggi), dan 6 peserta didik (sedang), 2) tingkat keberhasilan minat (66,6 %, minat tinggi dan 33,3 %, minat sedang) dan 3) indikator prasaan senang 80,4% (tinggi), perhatian 79,5% (tinggi), keterlibatan 62,7% (sedang), ketertarikan 76,3 % (tinggi) dan pengetahuan 59,3% (sedang).
