Abstract

While remote working conditions became more prominent post COVID-19, they have influenced a shift in the subjective well-being (SWB) of remote employees. The impact of the associated job stress has been underexplored in Indonesia. Drawing on the job demands-resources model, this research investigates the underlying mechanisms of job stress in explaining the relationships between work-life conflict, workforce agility, and SWB among remote employees. A total of 350 permanent employees who work fulltime remotely in several organization in Indonesia (65.7% women, M-age = 26.19 years; SD = 3.66) participated in the study. Data were collected using scales measuring work-life conflict, workforce agility, SWB and job stress, distributed online via Google Forms. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) techniques with the IBM SPSS AMOS program. The results showed that work-life conflict and workforce agility were associated with subjective well-being ( β = -.32 and .79, p < .001; respectively). Furthermore, job stress fully explains the relationship between work-life conflict and subjective well-being (CI -.46 – -.12) and partially explains the association between workforce agility and subjective well-being (CI .62 – .87). The findings have implications for how organizations and counsellors can assist remote employees in enhancing their well-being by managing their stress, promoting workforce agility, and overcoming work-life conflicts.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the association between parent-child career goal congruence, career optimism, and career engagement among students. This study involved 237 students aged 19 to 21 years (M-age = 19.23; SD = 0.97), with 82.3% female and 17.7% male participants, drawn from a faculty at a university in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The research employed a quantitative design using a survey method. Data was collected using three scales: the parent-child career goal congruence scale (α = 0.87), the career optimism scale (α = 0.81), and the career engagement scale (α = 0.86). Multiple linear regression analysis (SPSS 27.0) revealed that parent child career goal congruence and career optimism were  associated with career engagement (R = 0.39, R2 = 0.16, F = 22.08, p < 0.001). Together, these two factors account for 16% of the variance in career engagement. However, when examined separately, only parent-child career goal congruence was  associated with career engagement (β = 0.21, p < 0.001), while career optimism showed no significant association (β = 0.03, p = 0.38). This finding highlight the value of collaborative, communication-centered approaches, suggesting that parents and career counselors can support students more effectively by engaging in joint career planning, open dialogue, and structured counseling sessions to enhance parent–child career goal congruence. Keyword: Parent-child career goal congruence, career optimism, career engagement.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya hubungan antara career goal discrepancy dan resiliensi dengan CDMSE.University students often face difficulties in making career choices, which are closely linked to low levels of career decision-making self-efficacy (CDMSE). Such a condition can lead to increased psychological pressure and uncertainty in determining their career paths. This study aims to examine the relationship between career goal discrepancy and resilience with CDMSE. The sample of this study consisted of 235 students from the Faculty of Psychology at Ahmad Dahlan University, Class of 2022. This research using quantitative methods with cluster random sampling techniques. Data were collected using the Career Goal Discrepancy Scale (CGDS) (α = 0.902), the Resilience Scale (α = 0.892), and the Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy Scale (CDMSES) (α = 0.928). Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression analysis. The analysis results indicated that career goal discrepancy and resilience are related to CDMSE (R = 0.559; p = 0.000 < 0.01) with an effective contribution of 31.2% (R² = 0.312). Partially, career goal discrepancy is negatively related to CDMSE (r = -0,406; p = 0,001 < 0,01). Meanwhile, the resilience variable is positively related to CDMSE (r = 0,524; p = 0,000 < 0.01). This study highlights the relationship between career goal discrepancy and resilience with CDMSE.

Abstract

Career literacy is an important factor that supports individuals in setting career goals and making career decisions. To assess the level of individuals’ career literacy, a valid measurement that can describe the true literacy level is needed. However, so far there are no tools to assess career literacy levels among adolescents in Indonesia. The study aims to validate the behavioural indicators of a career literacy scale for Indonesian adolescents. The research involved five experts in career development and psychometry. The data collected through the questionnaire contains 50 behavioural indicators of the career literacy scale that was analyzed through V Aiken’s formula. The results revealed that all indicator have V coefficient ranging from 0.40 – 1.00. The 24 selected indicators consist of three indicators in each aspect of the concepts dimension and five indicators in each aspect of the skills dimension as the indicators of the Indonesian Career Literacy Scale. Therefore, the career literacy construct identified in a study in USA is also relevant for Indonesians and can be used in developing the Indonesian Career Literacy Scale.

Abstract

During the transition to adulthood, students are increasingly require are  required to demonstrate active engagement in planning and managing their career development. This engagement is shaped by contextual factors, including the degree of alignment between students’ and parents’ career goals and the support received from parents. However, empirical research on career engagement among Indonesian university students, particularly studies examining its connection with parental factors, remains limit. This study aims to investigate the association between parent-child career goal congruence, parental support, and career engagement. A total of 224 active students participated in this study. Data were collected using three instruments: the Career Engagement Scale (α=..), the Parent-Child Career Goal Congruence Scale, and the Parental Support Scale. Multiple linear regression analysis revealed a significant association between parent-child career goal congruence, support, and career engagement. These findings highlight the potential for parents and career counselors to enhance students' career engagement by fostering alignment between parental and student career goals, and by providing consistent parental support.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the experience of a sense of community among volunteers of Yayasan Rumpun Nurani (YRN), a faith-based social organization in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Using a qualitative case study design, this study examines how shared Islamic values and informal community structures contribute to volunteer cohesion and organizational sustainability. Data were collected through focus group discussions, participatory observation, and document analysis of twenty active volunteers. Data analysis was conducted using Braun and Clarke's six-step thematic analysis approach. The results of the analysis resulted in eight interrelated themes: shared values and vision, belonging, peer support and emotional contagion, flexible commitment, spiritual and personal growth, conflict management, youth engagement and regeneration, and social and professional benefits. These findings suggest that spiritual values, relational dynamics, and non-hierarchical participation play a central role in fostering a sense of community in the context of grassroots communities. Theoretically, this research enriches community psychology by contextualizing the theory of sense of community in collectivist Islamic culture. Practically, the results of this study provide insights for the development of faith-based empowerment programs that strengthen social cohesion, women's participation, and cross-generational involvement in volunteer organizations.
