Abstract

This study discusses the implementation of redox reactions on the thickness test of the galvanized (zinc-coated) layer using the JIS-H-0401 standard to help Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) industries. Some of the finished products go through the galvanizing process in the metal processing industry. Quality constraints, especially related to the thickness of the galvanic (zinc-coated) layer, have become an object that is less controlled because of the limitations of the test equipment used. This research uses an experimental method applied to one of its products: a flat washer with SPCC material and a thickness of about 2.20 mm. SPCC - SD material is classified as low carbon steel based on its carbon content. 5-unit flat washers were identified with sample codes A, B, C, D, and E. Flat washers have an internal diameter of 22.65 - 22.7 mm. In comparison, the outer diameter is between 43.75 - 43.80. The redox reaction process uses HCl (hydrochloric acid) with a concentration of 1 M, which is diluted with water (H2O). The zinc thickness test results show that the flat washer has an average thickness of 10.52 microns with a minimum and maximum thickness variation of 10.66 -10.72 microns.

Abstract

Abstract

XYZ is a company engaged in the paper industry, which is located in West Java. Since established in 1976, this company has produced photocopy paper in the form of reams. This company has advantages in terms of paper quality so that its products dominate the international market and the domestic market. With a very tight level of market competition, companies must continue to work optimally to continuously improve employee performance and company productivity. The purpose of this study is to plan an incentive-based employee wage system, which is suitable and in accordance with company conditions. Incentive wages are important as one of the main components to increase and maintain motivation, performance and work integrity. This research was conducted in the Finishing Department of the copy manual wrapping work unit. The method used are the Piecework method, the Halsey method, and the Rowan method. The result of this research is a comparison of the amount of wages between the wage system used by the company and the three methods of incentive pay as a company alternative. From the comparison of the three incentive wage design methods, the authors recommend the Halsey method as the best method that is able to provide benefits for both the company and for workers which we call dual mutualism. The Halsey method still guarantees a basic wage and a decent incentive wage for workers as a motivation to work faster and better.

Abstract

The demand for residential air conditioning (RAC) systems is expected to increase in the future owing to rising ambient temperatures resulting from global warming. Therefore, it is important to develop and study refrigerants that can improve energy efficiency and thermodynamic performance. This study compares R32 and R407c refrigerants in RAC systems, with an emphasis on the coefficient of performance (COP) and cooling capacity. The research methodology used an experimental approach by testing compressor speeds of 2400, 2700, and 3000 rpm. Based on the test results, R32 consistently performed better than R407c at all compressor speed variations. The COP and cooling capacity of R32 increased significantly by 15.53% and 35.90%, respectively. The stability of R32 performance operated at different compressor speed variations showed an increase in operational adaptability. Finally, R32 was proven to be a more effective and efficient refrigerant than R407c in the RAC system.
