Abstract

This study explores the cultural heritage of Pekalongan batik, which holds the identity of the City of Batik and the City of Santri. The analysis focuses on the economic, cultural, and Islamic roles and how they determine the existence of batik businesses that have persisted until now. This study uses a cultural approach with case study analysis and finds that batik businesses transmit a cultural heritage that continues from generation to generation until batik becomes a cultural identity and the lifeblood of Pekalongan's economy. Cultural transmission occurs socially, through learning processes, interaction among peers, socialization in society, skill mastery cadreship, and batik business management. As a source of grassroots economy, batik is integrated into society's daily activities, crystallizing in mindset as tradition and implicating in the development and preservation of batik that always follows the dynamics of the times. The cultural inheritance of batik cannot be separated from the role of religion, which serves as a source of moral vitality and a means to preserve the existence and sustainability of batik business.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of religious moderation values ​​in the curriculum at MTs Al-Hasan, Proppo District. Observations showed that the implementation of religious moderation is less optimal, indicated by student intolerance, poor teacher understanding, and lack of activities that support moderation education. This study aims to understand how the values ​​of religious moderation are integrated into the curriculum to form moderate and inclusive mindsets in students. Using a qualitative approach, data was collected through in-depth interviews and observations involving the head of the madrasah, teachers, and students. The findings showed that religious moderation is implemented through an integrated curriculum, using themes that link subjects in Islamic Religious Education, to encourage students to embrace diversity and uphold their religious principles. This study emphasizes the importance of curriculum design in forming students' attitudes that respect differences and promote tolerance.

Abstract

This study focused on how the concept of Islamic moderation was developed by PTKIN also the opportunities and challenges faced by universities. This paper aims to describe the role of state Islamic religious colleges in conceptualizing Islamic moderation and the opportunities and challenges of PTKIN in strengthening Islamic moderation in Indonesia. This research used a qualitative approach with descriptive-analytical type. Data obtained through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation at four State Islamic Universities located in Central Java, West Nusa Tenggara, East Java, and Sulawesi. Data analysis used the Miles & Huberman analysis model, content analysis, and hermeneutic analysis. The results show that PTKIN has strengthened Islamic moderation by making it a method of thinking as well as a method of action. Conceptually, Islamic moderation is understood as values, thoughts, and actions that promote balance (in the middle) between two conflicting matters. PTKIN has enormous opportunities with human capital, institutional, political, institutional commitment, and moderate Islamic studies, as well as a very supportive environment for strengthening Islamic moderation in this country. Abstract

Kendati praktik pendidikan Islam di Indonesia telah berlangsung cukup lama, tepatnya sejak Islam masuk ke wilayah Nusantara sekitar 15 abad yang lalu, kajian tentang pendidikan Islam di Indonesia masih sangat terbatas dibanding kajian keislaman lainnya. Tulisan berikut menyuguhkan kajian historis tentang pendidikan Islam di Indonesia. Kajian dilakukan dengan melakukan survey terhadap sejumlah buku sejarah pendidikan Islam di Indonesia. Kajiannya diarahkan pada sejauhmana bukubuku dimaksud memberikan informasi ilmiah tentang sejarah pertumbuhan dan perkembangan pendidikan Islam di Indonesia.

Abstract

Dalam perspektif historis, keberadaan mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) di sekolah umum mengalami perjalanan panjang dan rumit seiring dengan kondisi sosial politik yang menyertai. Hal ini bisa ditelusuri sejak masa penjajahan hingga era reformasi. Di masa Belanda pendidikan agama tidak ada peluang diajarkan di sekolah pemerintah dengan alasan pemerintah bersikap netral. Kebijakan Jepang lebih lunak—kendati tidak lebih baik dari Belanda—dengan mengizinkan pendidikan agama diajarkan di sekolah. Setelah Indonesia merdeka, secara perlahan dan pasti, posisi PAI di sekolah umum mulai menguat, dari sebelumnya sebagai mata pelajaran pelengkap, tidak wajib, dan tidak menentukan kenaikan kelas, menjadi mata pelajaran inti di setiap jenjang pendidikan. Meskipun posisi PAI di sekolah umum cukup kuat, tidak berarti lepas dari masalah, terutama dalam tataran aplikasi.

Abstract

Kebijakan diskriminatif pemerintah Hindia Belanda terhadap umat Islam, dalam hal pendidikan, memunculkan sikap penolakan umat Islam dengan wujud beragam, defensif dan progresif. Corak defensif ditunjukkan, terutama oleh ulama tradisional, dengan cara menghindari sejauh mungkin pengaruh politik Belanda terhadap sistem pendidikan Islam. Sikap ini terlihat pada sistem pendidikan tradisional pesantren yang mengambil tempat di daerah-daerah pedalaman untuk menghindar dari pengaruh dan pantauan Belanda. Pendekatan progresif dilakukan, terutama dipelopori sejumlah ulama pembaharu, dengan “meniru” pola pendidikan modern ala Belanda tapi berbasis Islam. Melalui pola moderat ini, berdirilah sejumlah madrasah dan sekolah umum berciri khas Islam dengan beberapa corak; Pertama, madrasah dengan dominasi mata pelajaran agama ditambah mata pelajaran umum (madrasah plus). Kedua, sekolah umum model Belanda ditambah mata pelajaran agama (sekolah plus). Ketiga, madrasah dengan bidang kajian sepenuhnya agama (madrasah diniyah).

Abstract

Dalam rentang waktu antara 1948 hingga 1992 Departemen Agama telah menyelenggaraan pendidikan guru agama jenjang pendidikan menengah. Banyak kebijakan penting yang telah dilakukan departemen ini terkait penyelenggaraan lembaga pendidikan guru jenjang menengah. Uraian berikut akan mendeskripsikan secara kronologis kebijakan-kebijakan dimaksud. Uraiannya dibagi menjadi lima periode dengan mempertimbangkan ada tidaknya kebijakan Departemen Agama dalam suatu periode yang mempengaruhi perkembangan lembaga. Periode dimaksud meliputi; masa perintisan (1948-1950), masa perluasan (1950-1952), masa integrasi (1952-1958), masa pembinaan (1958-1978), serta masa reorganisasi dan alih status (1978-1992).

Abstract

Dalam Islam, sosok guru (agama) sangat strategis, di samping mengemban misi keilmuan agar peserta didik menguasai ilmu-ilmu agama, guru juga mengemban tugas suci, misi kenabian, yakni membimbing dan mengarahkan peserta didik menuju jalan Allah SWT. Dengan peran strategis tersebut, tentu tidak mudah menjadi guru agama. Di samping itu, dalam melaksanakan tugasnya, guru agama akan dihadapkan pada tantangan yang tidak ringan, baik tantangan internal (terkait dengan materi agama dan pribadi guru) maupun tantangan eksternal (terkait dengan perhatian orang tua, lingkungan yang tidak kondusif, serta perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi yang melahirkan efek negatif, di samping dampak positif).

Abstract

Ilmu pengetahuan dalam Islam memiliki karakteristik khas yang berbeda secara fundamental dengan ilmu-ilmu yang dikembangkan di Barat, baik landasan, sumber, sarana, dan metodologinya. Dalam Islam, ilmu pengetahuan memiliki landasan yang kokoh melalui al-Qur’ān dan Sunnah; bersumber dari alam fisik dan alam metafisik; diperoleh melalui indra, akal, dan hati/intuitif. Cakupan ilmunya sangat luas, tidak hanya menyangkut persoalan-persoalan duniawi, namun juga terkait dengan permasalahan ukhrāwi.

Abstract

A consequence of dualism in education policy, the implementatin of tadris in IAIN often faces many problems. This paper will describe the history and the development of tadris in IAIN/STAIN. The discussion begins with the origin of tadris in IAIN, problems araise in the implementation of tadris in IAIN/STAIN, including the alumni’s problem. In addition, this article also reveals several opportunities for tadris graduation to develop madrasah as purely religious school to public islamic school as the result of the paradigm change.
