Abstract

Proper care for dental and oral health needs to be performed since early ages. Elementary school students should develop good habit related to dental health by regular teeth brushing and consuming health food, including at school. Dental health cadres have been appointed to assist dental health workers in carrying out efforts to maintain the dental and oral health of school members. Teachers are potential dental health cadres who can guide students to develop proper dental health behavior at schools. Purpose: This community service was administered to enhance the knowledge and skills of dentalhealth cadres to be able to assist elementary school students in improving their dental and oral health. Method: The training was conducted through lectures, demonstrations and simulations for teachers as dental health cadres at Manefu Elementary School, Taebenu District. Some educational media were used including posters, phantoms and toothbrushes and training manuals. Training and simulations on how to properly brush teeth and maintain dental health were held. In this study,a quasi-experimental pretest and posttest design was also performed and data of the study were analyzed using the paired sample test. Results: Training and assistance program for dental health cadres was found effective in improving the knowledge and skills of dental health cadres with a p-value of 0.000.

Abstract

Knowledge is the result of remembering something, including recalling events that have been experienced either intentionally or unintentionally and this happens after people make contact or observe a certain object. Medical waste is waste originating from medical services, dental care, pharmacy, research, treatment, care or education that uses toxic, infectious, dangerous or dangerous materials unless certain safeguards are carried out. Non-medical waste is solid waste generated from non-medical hospital activities originating from kitchens, offices, and gardens from the yard that can be reused if there is technology. The purpose of this study was to determine the knowledge of students about medical and non-medical waste treatment at the Dental Nursing Department of the Health Polytechnic of the Kupang Ministry of Health. The type of research used is a descriptive type where this method will describe students' knowledge about the processing of medical waste and non-medical waste at the Dental Nursing Department Clinic, Poltekkes, Ministry of Health, Kupang. The results showed that the subject's knowledge of medical waste treatment at the Dental Nursing Department Clinic, Poltekkes Kemenkes Kupang was in the medium category (62.22%). The subject's knowledge of non-medical waste treatment at the Dental Nursing Department of the Health Poltekkes Kupang is in the good category (46.7%). The condition of medical and non-medical waste treatment at the Dental Nursing Department Clinic, Poltekkes, Kupang Ministry of Health is not up to standard or in poor category (35%). It is recommended that the clinic of the Department of Dental Nursing Poltekkes Kemenkes Kupang in order to further increase knowledge to students regarding the treatment of medical and non-medical waste, especially in the Clinic of the Department of Dental Nursing Poltekkes Kemenkes Kupang. Pengetahuan merupakan hasil mengingat suatu hal, termasuk mengingat kembali kejadian yang pernah dialami baik secara sengaja maupun tidak sengaja dan ini terjadi setelah orang melakukan kontak atau pengamatan suatu objek tertentu. Limbah medis adalah limbah yang berasal dari pelayanan medik, perawatan gigi, farmasi, penelitian, pengobatan, perawatan atau pendidikan yang menggunakan bahan-bahan beracun, infeksius, berbahaya atau membahayakan kecuali jika dilakukan pengamanan tertentu. Limbah non medis adalah limbah padat yang dihasilkan dari kegiatan rumah sakit diluar medis yang berasal dari dapur, perkantoran, serta taman dari halaman yang dapat dimanfaatkan kembali apabila ada teknologi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengetahuan mahasiswa tentang pengolahan limbah medis dan non medis di Klinik Jurusan Keperawatan Gigi Poltekes Kemenkes Kupang. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah jenis penelitian deskriptif dimana metode ini akan menggambarkan pengetahuan mahasiswa tentang pengolahan limbah medis dan limbah non medis di Klinik Jurusan Keperawatan Gigi Poltekkes Kemenkes Kupang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan subjek tentang pengolahan limbah medis di Klinik Jurusan Keperawatan Gigi Poltekkes Kemenkes Kupang termasuk kategori sedang (62,22%). Pengetahuan subjek tentang pengolahan limbah non medis di Klinik Jurusan Keperawatan Gigi Poltekkes Kemenkes Kupang termasuk kategori baik (46,7%). Kondisi pengolahan limbah medis dan non medis di Klinik Jurusan Keperawatan Gigi Poltekkes Kemenkes Kupang belum sesuai standar atau kategori buruk (35%). Disarankan agar klinik Jurusan Keperawatan Gigi Poltekkes Kemenkes Kupang agar lebih meningkatkan pengetahuan kepada mahasiswa mengenai pengolahan limbah medis dan non medis terkhususnya di Klinik Jurusan Keperawatan Gigi Poltekkes Kemenkes Kupang.

Abstract

Nutritional disorders are caused by primary or secondary factors. The primary factor is when a person's food composition is wrong in quantity or quality caused by a lack of food supply, poor food distribution, poverty, ignorance, wrong eating habits and so on. Secondary factors include all factors that cause nutrients not to reach digestive cells such as bad teeth (dental caries). A person with a bad masticatory apparatus will choose food according to the strength of his chewing so that in the end it can lead to malnutrition. The purpose of this study was to determine the nutritional status of children in terms of dental caries in elementary school students at GMIT Baumata. This research method uses the description method, with a population of 100 students. The results showed that the nutritional status of students in the category of very thin 7%, underweight 52%, normal 41%, obese 0%, obese 0%, the condition of dental caries status of students 2 was 38%, 2 was 62% and nutritional status conditions in terms of student dental caries, namely the category of very thin nutrition with caries 2 is 0% while 2 is 7%, underweight nutrition category with caries 2 is 4% while 2 is 48%, normal nutrition category with caries 2 is 34 % while 2 is 7%, obese nutrition category with 2 caries is 0%, 2 is 0% and obesity nutrition category with 2 caries is 0%, 2 is 0%. The conclusion of this study is that the highest nutritional status of children is the category of underweight nutritional status and the highest dental caries condition is 2 or has not reached the national target. The nutritional status of children in terms of dental caries, the highest percentage is thin nutritional status with caries status 2 is 48%. Gangguan gizi disebabkan oleh faktor primer atau sekunder. Faktor primer adalah bila susunan makanan seseorang salah dalam kuantitas atau kualitas yang disebabkan oleh kurangnya penyediaan pangan, kurang baiknya distribusi pangan, kemiskinan, ketidaktahuan, kebiasaan makan yang salah dan sebagainya. Faktor sekunder meliputi semua faktor yang menyebabkan zat-zat gizi tidak sampai di sel-sel pencernaan seperti gigi-geligi yang tidak baik (karies gigi). Seseorang dengan alat pengunyahan yang tidak baik akan memilih makanan sesuai dengan kekuatan kunyahnya sehingga pada akhirnya dapat mengakibatkan malnutrisi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui status gizi anak ditinjau dari karies gigi pada siswa SD GMIT Baumata. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskripsi, dengan populasi sebanyak 100 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kondisi status gizi siswa kategori sangat kurus 7%, kurus 52%, normal 41%, gemuk 0%, obesitas 0%, kondisi status karies gigi siswa ≥2 adalah 38%, ≤2 adalah 62% dan kondisi status gizi ditinjau dari karies gigi siswa yaitu kategori gizi sangat kurus dengan karies ≥2 adalah 0% sedangkan ≤2 adalah 7%, kategori gizi kurus dengan karies ≥2 adalah 4% sedangkan ≤2 adalah 48%, kategori gizi normal dengan karies ≥2 adalah 34% sedangkan ≤2 adalah 7%, kategori gizi gemuk dengan karies ≥2 adalah 0%, ≤2 adalah 0% dan kategori gizi obesitas dengan karies ≥2 adalah 0%, ≤2 adalah 0%. Kesimpulan penelitian ini yaitu kondisi status gizi anak yang paling besar adalah kategori status gizi kurus dan kondisi karies gigi yang paling besar yaitu ≤2 atau belum mencapai target nasional. Status gizi anak ditinjau dari karies gigi yang paling besar presentasenya adalah status gizi Kurus dengan status karies ≤2 adalah 48%.
