Abstract

Nutritional disorders are caused by primary or secondary factors. The primary factor is when a person's food composition is wrong in quantity or quality caused by a lack of food supply, poor food distribution, poverty, ignorance, wrong eating habits and so on. Secondary factors include all factors that cause nutrients not to reach digestive cells such as bad teeth (dental caries). A person with a bad masticatory apparatus will choose food according to the strength of his chewing so that in the end it can lead to malnutrition. The purpose of this study was to determine the nutritional status of children in terms of dental caries in elementary school students at GMIT Baumata. This research method uses the description method, with a population of 100 students. The results showed that the nutritional status of students in the category of very thin 7%, underweight 52%, normal 41%, obese 0%, obese 0%, the condition of dental caries status of students 2 was 38%, 2 was 62% and nutritional status conditions in terms of student dental caries, namely the category of very thin nutrition with caries 2 is 0% while 2 is 7%, underweight nutrition category with caries 2 is 4% while 2 is 48%, normal nutrition category with caries 2 is 34 % while 2 is 7%, obese nutrition category with 2 caries is 0%, 2 is 0% and obesity nutrition category with 2 caries is 0%, 2 is 0%. The conclusion of this study is that the highest nutritional status of children is the category of underweight nutritional status and the highest dental caries condition is 2 or has not reached the national target. The nutritional status of children in terms of dental caries, the highest percentage is thin nutritional status with caries status 2 is 48%. Gangguan gizi disebabkan oleh faktor primer atau sekunder. Faktor primer adalah bila susunan makanan seseorang salah dalam kuantitas atau kualitas yang disebabkan oleh kurangnya penyediaan pangan, kurang baiknya distribusi pangan, kemiskinan, ketidaktahuan, kebiasaan makan yang salah dan sebagainya. Faktor sekunder meliputi semua faktor yang menyebabkan zat-zat gizi tidak sampai di sel-sel pencernaan seperti gigi-geligi yang tidak baik (karies gigi). Seseorang dengan alat pengunyahan yang tidak baik akan memilih makanan sesuai dengan kekuatan kunyahnya sehingga pada akhirnya dapat mengakibatkan malnutrisi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui status gizi anak ditinjau dari karies gigi pada siswa SD GMIT Baumata. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskripsi, dengan populasi sebanyak 100 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kondisi status gizi siswa kategori sangat kurus 7%, kurus 52%, normal 41%, gemuk 0%, obesitas 0%, kondisi status karies gigi siswa ≥2 adalah 38%, ≤2 adalah 62% dan kondisi status gizi ditinjau dari karies gigi siswa yaitu kategori gizi sangat kurus dengan karies ≥2 adalah 0% sedangkan ≤2 adalah 7%, kategori gizi kurus dengan karies ≥2 adalah 4% sedangkan ≤2 adalah 48%, kategori gizi normal dengan karies ≥2 adalah 34% sedangkan ≤2 adalah 7%, kategori gizi gemuk dengan karies ≥2 adalah 0%, ≤2 adalah 0% dan kategori gizi obesitas dengan karies ≥2 adalah 0%, ≤2 adalah 0%. Kesimpulan penelitian ini yaitu kondisi status gizi anak yang paling besar adalah kategori status gizi kurus dan kondisi karies gigi yang paling besar yaitu ≤2 atau belum mencapai target nasional. Status gizi anak ditinjau dari karies gigi yang paling besar presentasenya adalah status gizi Kurus dengan status karies ≤2 adalah 48%.

Abstract

Dental caries is a dental and oral health problem for the majority of the Indonesian population. Dental caries affects most children. Caries that occur in children is often not treated or treated, resulting in a toothache. This condition can have an impact on the general health of the child where the frequency of eating will decrease, resulting in disruption of growth and development that will affect the nutritional status of the child. Nutritional problems are caused by many factors that are interrelated both directly and indirectly. Directly affected by infectious diseases and insufficient nutrition in quantity and quality, while indirectly influenced by the range and quality of health services, inadequate parenting, poor sanitation conditions and low food security at the household level. This study aims to determine the relationship between the incidence of dental caries in children with the nutritional status of children aged 6-7 years SDI Kaniti Kabupaten Kupang in 2016. Data collection was carried out by performing dental examinations and measuring height and weight. The incidence rate of dental caries aged 6-7 years old SDI Kaniti Kabupaten Kupang in 2016 was in the high category (30.76%) and very high (37.17%) with an average 3-6 cavities and nutritional status of children aged 6- 7 years SDN Kaniti Kabupaten Kupang in 2016 was categorized as obese (26.92%) and normal (67.94%), so there was no correlation between the incidence of dental caries on the nutritional status of 6-7-year-olds in Kaniti Regency Kupang in 2016 because children who had high and very high caries incidence has fat and normal nutritional status. It is recommended to conduct further research on the factors that influence the high incidence of dental caries in children aged 6-7 years at SDN Kaniti, Kupang Tengah District, Kupang Regency.

Abstract

Situation Analysis: Almost more than 50% of students in elementary school dental are dental workers so it is felt that there is a need for prevention with the establishment of healthy dental schools. And for + 2 years have not received dental health services / UKGS due to the Corona pandemic situation. Objective: Improve the behavior of elementary school-age children in maintaining dental and oral health and increase teacher understanding in filling out healthy dental cards and dental health education as the beginning of the formation of healthy dental schools. Community Service Method: PKM Approach Method with Participatory Action Research. This activity will be carried out at SD Inpres Liliba from April to October 2023, with participants being teachers and students of grades III and IV. Activity Results: Activities were carried out on grade 3 and 4 students totaling 50 children. First, students filled out a dental health maintenance behavior questionnaire before counseling, the results were included in the moderate criteria as many as 38 people (76.0%), teacher training on good and correct brushing practices, filling out healthy dental cards, and dental health education. The evaluation was carried out after 3 months, where there was an increase in behavior including the good category as many as 48 people (96.00%), teacher understanding in filling out healthy dental cards, dental health education and brushing practices were good and healthy dental schools had begun with brushing activities together every 1 week 1 time. Conclusion: This healthy dental school activity can improve the behavior of elementary school-age children in maintaining dental health and teachers' understanding is good in filling out healthy dental cards and teaching brushing and dental health education to students.
