Abstract

The eggs susceptible to damage and loss of quality due to the entry of bacteria into the egg so that can’t function properly. In addition to the storage duration, eggshell colour factors also affect the level of people's preference for chicken eggs. The darker egg shell colour the thicker the shell and less the pores so the evaporation will be less. Egg shell colour is relatively dark and has a thicker shell and smaller pores that evaporation of the lower egg. The research was to know the effect of storage duration and colour of eggs shell towards the internal eggs quality (egg weight, Haugh Units, and yolk colour); the best effect of storage duration and colour of egg shell towards the internal eggs quality. This study was carried out on March 12 – April 2, 2014 was at the Laboratory Animal Production and Reproduction, Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. The method was completely randomized design with a nested pattern, factor storage time (7 days and 14 days) as the main plot and eggshell colour intensity factor (light brown and dark brown) as the subplot. Each treatment was repeated 5 times and its experimental unit consist of 3 eggs. The parameters measured were egg weight, yolk colour, and Haugh Units (HU). Data was analyzed with analysis of variance. If there is a real variable Duncan test at 5% significance level.The results was the treatment had significant effect (P <0.05) to the HU value, but not significant (P> 0.05) to egg weight and yolk colour. The storage duration 7 days and eggshell dark brown gived the best of HU.

Abstract

This study was conducted to 1) determine the effect local of probiotic supplements on shell thickness, weight loss persentage, and Haugh unit of eggs which stored ten days; 2) determine the optimal  level of supplements local of probiotic on shell thickness, weight loss presentage, and Haugh unit of eggs which stored ten days. This research was held on 08--19 December 2014  in the CV. Varia Agung Jaya henhouse laying  in  the District of  Seputih Mataram, Center of Lampung  Regency and continued on 20 December 2014--18 January 2015 in the Laboratory of Microbiology, Laboratory of Molecular Biology Faculty, University of Lampung. The study used completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments of  local  probiotics in the diet (0%, 1%, 2%, and 3%) and 5 replications. Data obtained was analyzed using analysis of variance at 5% level and continued Orthogonal Polynomial test at 5% level. Based on these results we can conclude: effect of local probiotics in the diet (0,1,2, and 3%) no significant (P> 0.05) on the weight loss presentage and  Haugh unit of eggs which stored ten days, but significant (P <0.05) on  shell thickness. Increasing the percentage of local probiotic on the ration will improve shell thickness indicated by the regression equation ŷ = 0.42 + 0,24x, with r = 0.68 and R2 = 0.47. Abstract

The purpose of this research was identify the characteristics and behaviour of males and females lovebird species Agapornis fischeri of standard green variant.  The research has been conducted in February till April 2015 in the lovebird breeding room’s on the Senopati street of Jatimulyo village, Jati Agung, South Lampung.  The object being observed are five pairs of lovebird who have reached sexual maturity (≥9 months).  The males and females of body weight obtained through scale digital after behaviour observation and fasted it first.  The result were analyzed using chi-square method with level of 5% on the characteristics and focal animal sampling method to behaviour observated via video camera for six days in each cage object. Assessment of characteristics lovebird observed are body shape, head shape, and tail feather shape while the observation of behaviours were ingestive (eating, drinking, and cleaning beak), idle behaviour (perching and resting), and sexual behaviour (approaching females, delouse, flirting, and mating). The result of this research showed difference nonsignificant (P>0.05) between of males and females lovebird on the characteristics.  The average percentage of lovebird behaviours were drinking, cleaning up of beak, perching, approached females, and delouse behaviour in males larger than females.  Otherwise, the average percentage of lovebird behaviours were eating, resting, and flirting behaviour in females larger than males. Abstract

The purpose of this research are to (1) determine the effect of probiotics on the local microbes on performance of layer; (2) determine the optimal level  in the ration and IOFC of layer. This research do at 20thDesember 2014 – 19th Januari 2015 in CV Varia Agung Jaya Farm, Central Lampung.  This research used a completely randomized design (CRD) using probiotic with 4 treatments (0, 1, 2 and 3%) with 5 replications with 2 chickens of is treatment which of the number of chickens that used was 40 chickens.  The result of this research the giving probiotic from local microbal have significant effect on consumption and IOFC (P <0.05), whereas no significant effect on egg production, egg weight and feed conversion. Abstract

Egg production phase consists of two phases which first production phases and second productionphase. The first of production phase in turkeys began at the 6.5 to 7,0 months of hen age, the peakproduction phase mains 9-10 ages, while the second of production phase on the life is more than14 months of the hen age. Egg production in the first phase of production is higher than of eggproduction in the second phase production.This is caused by the ability of the reproductive organs in the first production phase better than thesecond phase. The research was carried out on 1 March-12April 2013 held at the Ranch turkeyPekon Sukoharjo Natural Partners I, Sukoharjo District, District Pringsewu. Eggs were usedduring the study were turkey eggs as much as 60 egge with an average weight of 68,83 g egg onegg production phase of the 7 months of age and 82.45 g in egg production phase at 14 monthsage. This study used 2 treatment design, namely the egg production phase 7 months of hen age(T1) and egg production phase 14 months of hen age (T2), each treatment consisted of 10experimental units and each unit consists of experiments 3 eggs. Data were analyzed usingStudent's t-test with a significance level of 5%. Treatment of egg production of the first and secondphase of the turkey parent age 7 months and 14 months did not affect significant (P> 0.05) onfertility, hatchability turkey, and hatchability, whereas the hatching weight significantly (P <0.05)the turkey egg.

Abstract

Purebred chicken egg is the most favorable egg in the society. This egg usually will be damageafter 14-days of storage. Beside of the storage duration, the internal quantity of egg has also beenaffected by quality of eggshell. The quality of eggshell include the eggshell thickness and amount ofeggshell pores. The amount of eggshell pores can be identified by means of eggshell color. The poreshave a role on the CO2 evaporation process, which give effect to the albumen index, yolk index, andegg’s pH.The purposes of the research are to know the best effect of storage duration and eggshell colorto albumen index, yolk index, and egg’s pH. This research was done on April 10-24th, 2014, usecomplete randomize block design with 2x2 of nested model. The main block is storage duration (P1: 7days and P2: 14 days) and the partial block is eggshell’s color (W1: light brown and W2: dark brown)with 5 times replication. The observed variable in this research are albumen index, yolk index, andegg’s pH. The research’s data were analyzed by using Analysis of variance test and 5% error levelDuncan test.The research result shown that storage duration and eggshell color have significant effect(P<0,05) toward albumen index, yolk index, and egg’s pH. The 7 days storage for light browneggshell color and dark brown eggshell color have good quality of albumen index, yolk index, andegg’s pH.

Abstract

This research aims to 1) study the effect of using feed additive on ration for egg weight and haugh unit (HU) value; 2) study optimum doses of feed additive in ration layer. This research was conducted in May - June 2016 at layer farm in Sumber Sari, Tamansari village of Gedong Tataan, Pesawaran, Analysis Laboratory Polytechnic of Lampung, Laboratory of Nutrition and Food livestock, and Laboratory Production and Reproduction of Livestock  Animal Husbandry Department, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung.  This  research used completely randomized design with 4 treatments of feed additives doses (0; 0.15; 0.25; and 0.35%) added on feed with 5 replications. Each replications using four layer. The data were analyzed using ANOVA analysis with 5% significance level. Significantly different results was further tested by orthogonal polynomials. The result can be conclude that 1) Addition of feed additives with a doses of 0; 0.15; 0.25; 0.35% on feed influence insignificantly (P> 0.05) to the egg weight, but it influenced significantly (P<0.05) in the Haugh unit value (HU). 2) The optimum dose addition of feed additives in the ration was 0.24% on the value of Haugh units of eggs. Abstract

Breeding is an effort to produce poultry breeds. To increase the qualified turkey breeds, itneeds to do firm selection to the turkey hatched eggs before hatching. The egg weight is the factorwhich influence the qualified turkey breeds. This study aimed to determine the comparison of eggweight on the fertility, weight loss, hatchability, and hatched weight of turkeys. This study washeld during a month on 1 March – 5 April 2013, located in Sukoharjo 1 Village, SukoharjoDistrict, Pringsewu Regency. The eggs used in this study were 30 turkey eggs for each treatment.The treatments consisted of egg weight T1 (70,00--74,99 g) and T2 (75,00--80,00 g). The eggstaken from 10 cages of turkey mother, three eggs from each cage. Data obtained from this studywas analyzed by using T-student Test with significant value. The result of this study showed thatthe comparison of turkey eggs weight of 70,00--74,99 g and 75,00--80,00 g were not significantlydifferent (P>0,05) on the fertility, weight loss, and hatchability. However, those weights weresignificantly different (P<0,05) on the hatched weight of turkeys.

Abstract

Hatching chicken eggs can be grouped into three ways namely hatching naturally with the help of wild duck, artificial hatching machine, and a combination of natural and artificial means. Hatching allegedly using a combination of ways to improve hatchability chicken. The purpose of this study was to determine the combination of chicken egg hatching process better by fertility and shrinkage, power, and weight of hatching. This study using student t-test on the real level of 5% with 2 treatments namely P1 (7 days incubation at parent wild duck and then proceed to the hatching machine) and P2 (10 days incubation at parent wild duck and then proceed to the hatching machine). Each treatment consists of 20 units and each experimental trial consisted of 5 eggs. Incubation at parent entok for 7 days and then proceed to the hatching machine indicates fertility and hatchability better (P <0,05) compared with the parent wild duck incubation for 10 days, but the effect was not significant (P> 0,05) against shrinkage and weight hatching. Abstract

Using varians of litter such us rice hull, wood shavings, straw on keeping the broiler, can affectbroiler performance. Its happen because every single litter has different power of absorbing the water.Closed house is closed cage that build for making a better environment inside the cage. The aim of theresearch was to : (1) Knowing the effect of litter of broiler performance, and (2) Finding the bes tlitterfor broiler performance on the closed house.It was conducted during 26 days since April 14, 2014 to Mei 10, 2015 at the PT Ramajayafarm’s on Krawangsari village, sub District Natar, South Lampung District. The chiken used wasbroiler strain cobb with trademark CP 707 product by PT. Chareon pokphand Indonesia tbk for 270chiken. Broiler start to get handling between age of 14 and 26 days.The research method was experimentally with Completely Randomized Design (CRD) weredivided into 3 step and repeated for 6 times, that is p1: rice hull; p2 : wood shavings; p3 : straw. Thedata were analysis with Analysis of Variance and if it shows 5%, then the analyze would be continuedto Ducan test.The result indicated that the treatmentis : (1) The effect of litter from rice hull, wood shavings,straw did not have significant effect (P>0,05) on performance (consumption, body weight gain, feedconversion and income over feed cost) broiler at closed house. (2) The effect varians of litter (ricehull, wood shavings, straw) at closed house having the same effect as consumption, body weight gain,feed conversion and income over feed cost (IOFC) for broiler finisher phase
