The quantitative approach used with panel data regression method with the analysis tool Eviews 10. This study uses secondary data derived from the annual financial statements of Islamic commercial banks in Indonesia. Sampling was carried out using purposive sampling with several criteria, resulting in a sample of 10 BUS in Indonesia. The results show that the interest rate and asset quality partially affect the distribution of financing with a significant positive. Abstract

This study examines investor behavior, measured by trading volume activity (TVA) and average abnormal return (AAR), during the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. It provides a comprehensive analysis of the pandemic's impact on four key subsectors: pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, transportation, and food and beverages. Using an event study methodology with daily stock prices and trading volume data, the results reveal varying investor reactions across subsectors. Notably, the pharmaceutical subsector showed significant differences in TVA averages and AAR changes two days before and seven days after the pandemic announcement. In contrast, the food and beverages subsector experienced no significant change in TVA, but notable AAR fluctuations over 11 days. The telecommunications subsector demonstrated significant negative AAR differences post-announcement, despite no TVA changes, while the transportation subsector experienced a negative AAR difference over 11 days with no TVA variations. This detailed sectoral analysis offers valuable insights for stakeholders seeking to understand the differential impact of COVID-19 on various industries.

Abstract

IntroductionEconomic turbulence remains a persistent challenge globally, as evidenced by historical crises such as the Great Depression, the 2007–2009 Global Financial Crisis, Brexit, and the COVID-19 pandemic. These events have underscored the necessity for resilient and ethically sound financial frameworks. Islamic finance has gained attention as a viable alternative financial system, potentially offering enhanced stability during periods of economic instability.ObjectivesThis study systematically reviews existing literature on the development and responses of Islamic finance during various economic disturbances. It aims to identify how Islamic financial institutions adapt their strategies, products, and services in response to crises, and highlight areas for future research.MethodThe systematic literature review method was used, analyzing 76 academic articles published between 2007 and 2023 from high-quality journals (Q1 and Q2) indexed in the Scopus database. Articles were carefully screened using defined inclusion and exclusion criteria to ensure relevance to economic crises and Islamic finance.ResultsFindings reveal that Islamic financial markets and Islamic banking were the predominant topics, demonstrating varied responses to economic shocks. Islamic banks, employing profit-loss sharing models, exhibited resilience during economic downturns, though inefficiencies in profitability and capitalization were noted. Islamic financial markets, characterized by ethical investments and low leverage, provided diversification advantages but remained vulnerable due to limited portfolio diversity. Additionally, Islamic social finance tools such as zakat and waqf were beneficial in supporting economic recovery, especially during the COVID-19 crisis.ImplicationsThe study suggests that governments and policymakers should promote profit-loss sharing models in Islamic banking and encourage greater diversification in Islamic financial markets to enhance resilience. Additionally, Islamic social finance should be further integrated into economic recovery strategies to mitigate crisis impacts.Originality/NoveltyThis research uniquely synthesizes insights into the adaptive responses of Islamic financial institutions across historical economic crises, addressing a significant knowledge gap in Islamic finance literature. By providing comprehensive future research directions, it contributes valuable guidance for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers aiming to develop sustainable and resilient financial systems.

Abstract

The advent of the digital age has engendered profound societal transformations, among which is the proliferation of digital investment platforms. Robo Advisors, powered by artificial intelligence, offer investment counsel to investors, promising a sense of security through judicious strategies. Robo-advisors are a cost-effective alternative to traditional financial consultants, enjoying widespread adoption due to their accessibility. This research investigates the influence of human bias on investors' irrational decision-making processes, alongside discerning potential disparities between users and non-users of robo advisors. A quantitative study was conducted to address these inquiries, involving a sample of 123 participants. Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares was employed as the data analysis technique. The findings reveal that overconfidence and loss aversion bias significantly impact the irrationality levels observed in individual investors' decision-making processes. Furthermore, no discernible differences were observed between robo-advisor users and non-users concerning the influence of overconfidence and loss aversion bias on investment decision-making within the research framework.

Abstract

Disciplined financial planning can create a more durable and financially stable marriage. However, many people still depend on fate, leading to financial planning being overlooked in daily life. Economic factors remain the second most common cause of divorce in Surabaya. Indonesia’s Sharia financial literacy index is only 8.93%, and only 6.3% of the population prepares for long-term financial goals. This study has the purpose of observing the modification theory of planned behavior with the variable Islamic financial literacy, attitude towards money, and social environment on family financial planning among young Muslim couples, especially in Surabaya. This research uses a quantitative approach used multiple linear regression analysis, utilizing IBM SPSS version 27 as the analytical tool. The subjects of this research are young Muslim couples in Surabaya, as younger generations often lack sufficient financial knowledge and tend to make poor financial decisions. The total sample consists of 75 respondents. The results show that Islamic financial literacy and social environment variables positively and significantly affect family financial planning. Meanwhile, the attitude towards money variable also shows an influence but is not statistically significant. These findings highlight the importance of improving Islamic financial literacy and leveraging the social environment to enhance family financial planning outcomes.
