Abstract

Tari Buto Birowo merupakan salah satu seni pertunjukan tradisional yang berkembang di Kabupaten Boyolali, khususnya di Desa Lencoh. Tarian ini memiliki makna simbolik yang kuat, menggambarkan kekuatan, keberanian, serta ekspresi spiritual masyarakat Jawa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis bentuk pertunjukan Tari Buto Birowo yang dipentaskan oleh Paguyuban Wahyu Turonggo Mudho. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnokoreologi, yang mengkaji bentuk pertunjukan secara tekstual dan kontekstual. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi dari berbagai sumber, termasuk Ketua Paguyuban Wahyu Turonggo Mudho dan para penari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Tari Buto Birowo memiliki struktur pertunjukan yang terdiri dari gerak, iringan, busana, properti, dan tempat pertunjukan. Gerakan tarian ini didominasi oleh gerakan dinamis seperti sabetan dan gedruk yang mencerminkan karakter raksasa dalam mitologi Jawa. Musik pengiring yang terdiri dari perpaduan gamelan Jawa dan alat musik modern menambah kekuatan ekspresif dalam pementasan. Paguyuban Wahyu Turonggo Mudho menunjukkan bahwa tarian ini tetap relevan dalam kehidupan modern, bahkan memiliki potensi untuk diperkenalkan secara lebih luas di tingkat nasional maupun internasional sebagai bagian dari warisan budaya Jawa yang berharga.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the role of Tirang Community in revitalizing the existence of Wayang Orang Ngesti Pandowo, a traditional performing arts group based in Semarang City. Employing a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, the study focuses on the lived experiences, meanings, and dynamics within the collaboration between the two artistic entities. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of the collaborative processes. The findings reveal that the collaboration stemmed from concerns over the declining popularity and internal disintegration of Ngesti Pandowo, including the decreasing audience, lack of innovation, and weak managerial structure. Since the formal partnership began in 2022, Tirang Community has played a strategic role in training, restructuring performance management, and introducing creative concepts such as Wayang Orang On the Street. This collaboration has significantly increased audience engagement, rekindled the artistic spirit of Ngesti Pandowo members, and strengthened their cultural presence within the urban community. The study affirms that cross-community collaboration can serve as an effective strategy in revitalizing traditional performing arts through adaptive and participatory values.

Abstract

This study discusses the performance form of the Serabi Kalibeluk Dance as a creative dance work based on local culture, developed at the Jagadhita Studio in Batang Regency. The problem addressed in this study is how the Serabi Kalibeluk Dance is performed at the Jagadhita Studio in Batang Regency. The purpose of this study is to explore and describe in detail the performance form of the Serabi Kalibeluk Dance, including the supporting elements of the performance such as the dance movements, presentation structure, and visual components involving music, costumes, and props. This research employs a qualitative approach with an ethnocoreological method and Jazuli's theory, using data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. The data collected was analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and verification techniques. The findings reveal that the Serabi Kalibeluk Dance not only reflects the cultural character of Batang but also serves as an educational medium that represents the historical, social, and traditional values of the local community. The performance form of this dance holds high aesthetic value and plays an important role in the preservation of regional arts. The conclusion emphasizes that the Serabi Kalibeluk Dance is an expression of local culture, containing educational and aesthetic values, and is essential in the efforts to preserve traditional art forms.

Abstract

Basically, body conditioning exercises are a physical preparation process designed to transform a dancer's body into a ready, flexible, and strong instrument for executing every dance movement. This research aims to describe and analyze the role of body conditioning in shaping the movement characteristics of students at Sanggar Tari Srimpi. I utilized a qualitative research method to examine this phenomenon naturally in the field. A choreographic approach was also applied to understand how physical exercise functions as a foundation for movement formation before entering the stage of dance composition. Data were collected through direct observation of the training process, in-depth interviews with the owner and instructors, and visual documentation. The results indicate that disciplined body conditioning, starting from warming up, somatic exercises for body awareness, to muscle strengthening, successfully develops movement characteristics that are fluid (luwes), precise, and calm (anteng). This proves that body conditioning is not merely a supplementary activity, but a crucial strategy for maintaining technical quality and professionalism among dancers in performing traditional dances

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji Bentuk Penyajian Jaran Kepang pada “Tari Alusan” yang dipentaskan oleh Paguyuban Fajar Lestari di Dusun Namar, Desa Lemahireng. Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini meliputi: Bagaimana Bentuk Penyajian Jaran Kepang pada “Tari Alusan” Paguyuban Fajar Lestari Dusun Namar Desa Lemahireng? menjawab permasalahan bentuk penyajian Tari alusan paguyuban Fajar Lestari, menggunakan teori Analisis Tari dari Maryono 2015. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi lapangan, sedangkan analisis data menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif dengan teknik triangulasi guna menjamin validitas temuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa bentuk penyajian Jaran Kepang pada “Tari Alusan” paguyuban Fajar Lestari adalah tari kelompok yang awalnya terdiri dari 6 penari lalu bertambah menjadi 20 penari dengan komponen nonverbal meliputi tema, gerak, penari, ekspresi, musik, tata rias, busana, pola lantai, dan panggung. Di samping itu, hasil penelitian ini juga memiliki nilai praktis sebagai dokumentasi tertulis dan bahan referensi bagi pengembangan seni tari tradisional pada masa yang akan datang. Secara teoritis, penelitian ini memperkaya kajian etnokoreologi dengan menawarkan pemahaman kontekstual tentang relasi bentuk Penyajian, makna simbolik, dan dinamika sosial dalam Tari alusan sebagai ekspresi identitas kolektif Masyarakat Dusun Namar.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the learning process of the creative dance “Semarang Rumah Kita” at the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Manila, Philippines, within the context of cultural preservation. It utilizes a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection technique consisting of observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects include Indonesian diaspora students and the learning facilitators at the Education and Culture Attache of KBRI Manila. The findings indicate that the learning process is carried out through the stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation. The methods employed include demonstration, imitation, and drill. The learning process takes place within a cultural preservation framework that influences the student’s movement comprehension, and adaptation. Supporting factors include participant enthusiasm, institutional support, and adaptive nature of the dance, while inhibiting factors include time constraints and the diverse backgrounds of the students. The novelty of this study lies in the investigation of creative dance learning within a nonformal context abroad. This study contributes as a reference for the development culture-based learning strategies overseas.
