Abstract

Twenty Hy-Line Brown laying hens aged 102 weeks were reared as research objects to determine the effect of an ethanol extract of Moringa oleifera leaves on the liver health of laying hens in the final layer of production. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with an experimental method consisting of 4 treatments and 5 replications. Each repetition consisted of one laying hen. The treatment was given for a maintenance period of 35 days, namely P0 = basal diet without ethanol extract of Moringa oleifera leaves; P1 = basal diet containing 0.08% ethanol extract of Moringa oleifera leaves; P2 = basal diet containing ethanol extract of Moringa oleifera leaves (0.12%); and P3 = basal diet containing 0.16% ethanol extract of Moringa oleifera leaves. Sampling was carried out by selecting one individual in each experimental unit, so that there were 20 samples. The parameters observed in the study were profiles of transferase enzymes (AST, ALT, and GGT) and profiles of free radical biomarkers (MDA, ALP, bilirubin, and uric acid). The results showed that administration of an ethanol extract of Moringa leaves in the ration had a significant effect (P 0.05) on the profile of the transferase enzyme and markers of free radical activity. The liver function of laying hens remained optimal after administering an ethanol extract of Moringa leaves with a content of 0.16% in diet.

Abstract

Ayam petelur fase produksi akhir atau afkir berarti terjadi level kritis dalam proliferasi sel ataupun sifat fungsional dari mitokondria yang menyebabkan apoptosis dan ketidakseimbangan antioksidan. Apoptosis pankreas memicu resistensi insulin sehingga dapat memengaruhi kadar glukosa dan trigliserida dalam tubuh ayam. Peningkatan antioksidan eksogen dapat dilakukan melalui suplementasi tanaman herbal daun kelor ke dalam ransum. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari pemberian ekstrak daun kelor beserta jumlah persentase penambahan ekstrak daun kelor dalam ransum yang optimal untuk dapat menstabilkan kadar glukosa dan menurunkan kadar trigliserida pada ayam petelur fase produksi akhir dalam batas normal. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. Ayam petelur yang digunakan adalah jenis Hy-Line Brown berusia 102 minggu sebanyak 20 ekor. Perlakuan penelitian terdiri atas P0: ransum basal + 0% ekstrak daun kelor, P1: ransum basal + 0,08% ekstrak daun kelor, P2: ransum basal + 0,12% ekstrak daun kelor, dan P3: ransum basal + 0,16% ekstrak daun kelor. Hasil analisis statistik menampilkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak daun kelor tidak memengaruhi kadar glukosa ayam (P>0,05), tetapi memengaruhi kadar trigliserida ayam petelur fase produksi akhir (P<0,05). Pemberian ekstrak daun kelor yang optimal dalam ransum terjadi pada P3 yaitu 0,16% karena dapat menstabilkan kadar glukosa hingga 224,26 mg/dL dan menurunkan kadar trigliserida hingga 112,96 mg/dL yang keduanya sesuai dengan ambang batas kadar pada ayam petelur (234-252 mg/dL glukosa darah dan kurang dari 150 mg/dL trigliserida darah).

Abstract

Background: This study aimed to determine the effect of bitter leaf flour in ration with different levels of laying hens on the haematological profile. The materials used were 20 laying hens with Hy-line strain, 110 weeks old, placed in battery cages and feed with 16-18% crude protein content of 120 grams/head/day and drinking water addlibitum. Methods: The research was conducted using an experimental method with a completely randomized design four treatments that were repeated five times. The treatments were given in the form of bitter leaf flour in ration with levels of P0: 0% (control), P1: 1%, P2: 2%, P3: 3%. The variables measured were haematological profiles such as erythrocytes, haemoglobin, hematocrit and leukocytes. The data obtained were then analyzed using analysis of variance. Finding: The results showed that giving bitter leaf flour in ration with levels of 0%, 1%, 2%, and 3% had no significant effect (P>0.05) on erythrocytes, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and leukocytes of laying hens. Connclusion: It was concluded that giving levels of bitter leaf flour up to 3% did not affect the haematological profile of laying hens. Novelty/Originality of this Article: The novelty of this study lies in its exploration of bitter leaf flour (Vernonia Amygdalina) as a natural feed additive in the diet of elderly laying hens (110 weeks old), a topic that is still underrepresented in poultry research, especially regarding its effect on haematological health parameter.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui efektivitas daun Datura metel Linn. dalam mengurangi cekaman transportasi pada domba. Penelitian dilakukan 3 tahap. Tahap pertama adalah menentukan dosis yang tepat dengan perlakuan 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25%, dan pekat pada hamster melalui kemampuan berputar pada roda berputar selama 1 menit, yang diobservasi pada waktu 10, 20, 30, 60, 120, dan 180 menit pascapemberian ekstrak daun Datura metel Linn. Tahap kedua menguji efek sediaan ekstrak daun Datura metel Linn. yang diberikan pada domba pratransportasi. Tahap 3, mempelajari bentuk penyajian dengan teknik celup. Lima ukuran partikel tepung daun Datura metel Linn. yaitu 60, 60-40, 40-30, 30-20, dan 20 mesh diuji kelarutannya dalam air selama 10 menit. Data diolah dengan deskriptif analisis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian daun Datura metel Linn. untuk semua perlakuan memberikan sensasi tenang dan bertahan sampai 180 menit. Domba yang diberi ekstrak daun Datura metel Linn. memiliki derajat stres transportasi yang lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan tanpa pemberian ekstrak Datura metel Linn. Ukuran mesh 20 memberikan kelarutan yang paling tinggi. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak daun Datura metel Linn. dapat mengurangi stres transportasi pada domba.
