Abstract

One of effort to examine the claim of journalism practices is making a research about the news construction of the media.In this project, researcher aim to study journalism style of Tarbawi magazine—would by compared with Tempo, especially on coveringhumanity issues, by its news construction analyzed. The media contents were analyzed by using framing analysis of Entman model, sothe news construction of Tarbawi will appear. Journalism style of Tarbawi will be explicit by the opinion of Tarbawi editors that found byin depth interview. The result showed the news construction of Tarbawi on covering humanity issues tend to focused on personalproblem with more space for moral evaluation based on Islamic values. The contemplative and narrative writing of Tarbawi showed itsconscience journalism. The moral judgments always underlie Tarbawi coverage. This journalism style can be categorized asinterpretative journalism genre. This style and literary journalism is like-minded, especially for the narrative style of writing

Abstract

Kemudahan akses Internet bagi masyarakat belum diikuti dengan kemampuan untuk memanfaatkannya secara konstruktif. Program jurnalisme warga bisa menjadi salah satu sarana untuk memanfaatkan Internet, khususnya melalui media sosial, untuk program-program pemberdayaan sosial di pedesaan. Keberadaan Internet telah mendorong gairah baru praktik jurnalisme warga. Penelitian ini menelaah praktik jurnalisme warga di Kabupaten Brebes yang memanfaatkan Blog dan Facebook untuk kegiatan pemberdayaan masyarakat desa. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menyajikan model pemanfaatan media sosial sebagai praktik jurnalisme warga untuk pemberdayaan masyarakat pedesaan. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, dengan teknik pengambilan data berupa analisis isi media, wawancara mendalam, dan diskusi kelompok terarah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa agenda jurnalisme warga paralel dengan upaya-upaya pemberdayaan masyarakat, khususnya dalam bidang pendidikan, kesehatan, dan lingkungan. Para jurnalis warga menggunakan istilah “Story of Change” sebagai indikator kinerja mereka dalam memberdayakan masyarakat. Perubahan ini didorong oleh opini publik yang mereka ciptakan, melalui strategi publikasi yang mencakup tiga agenda, yakni to inform, to promote, dan to advocate. Perubahan diciptakan dengan melibatkan pemerintah, swasta, dan masyarakat secara umum, baik melalui kebijakan resmi pihak yang berwenang ataupun dukungan dana dari masyarakat (crowd funding). Simpulan penelitian ini keberdayaan masyarakat ditunjukkan secara individual maupun sosial. Secara individual, para jurnalis warga merasa lebih percaya diri dan bertumbuh secara pengetahuan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada komunikiasi virtual yang terjadi pada kelompok game RPX E-Sport di dalam game PUBG MOBILE serta bertujuan untuk mengetahui model komunikasi virtual kelompok game RPX E-Sport dan apa yang dihasilkan dari komunikasi tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif serta menggunakan studi etnografi virtual. Hasil Penelitian menunjukan bahwa komunikasi virtual menghasilkan ragam bahasa atau ciri khas istilah (kode) tertentu yang dipahami dan dimaknai sama oleh semua anggota tim RPX. Ciri khas istilah (kode) tersebut terlahir karena intesitas perbincangan secara virtual terjadi dalam kurun waktu yang lama dan secara intensif, karena setiap hari pada malam hari anggota tim RPX selalu bermain bersama. Komunikasi virtual yang terjalin dibantu oleh fitur-fitur yang ada di dalam game, yang memungkinkan para player berkomunikasi selayaknya seperti sedang telpon.Perbincangan atau topik-topik yang dibicarakan termediasi oleh game PUBG MOBILE yang menghasilkan suatu budayanya sendiri, yaitu bermain sambil membicarakan hal lain. Model komunikasi virtual yang dibuat untuk memetakan pola komunikasi virtual yang telah berlangsung selama observasi yang menandakan bahwa adanya skilus yang berputar dan bertambah setiap topik yang dibicarakan. Pertama di Lobby selanjutnya di dalam match, setelah selesai kembali ke lobby dengan tambahan topik lainnya lalu memulai match kembali.

Abstract

Stigma ‘Desa Pengemis’ seolah melekat pada Desa Grinting, Kecamatan Bulakamba, Kabupaten Brebes. Desa ini dianggap sebagai tempat asal para pengemis di berbagai kota besar. Sebuah sebutan yang telah menjadi bagian dari memori kolektif warga, sehingga memunculkan kerisauan bersama. Kehadiran media sosial memberikan peluang bagi Warga Grinting untuk memberikan klarifikasi kepada khalayak luas bahwa desa mereka jauh dari apa yang dipersangkakan, terutama menilik dari berbagai kemajuan desa saat ini. Penelitian ini menggambarkan dan menganalisis sebuah praktik pembangunan citra sebuah desa untuk membalikkan stigma yang ditujukan kepada mereka melalui aktivitas di media sosial. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif, pengambilan data dilakukan melalui (1) analisis isi media, (2) wawancara mendalam, dan (3) diskusi kelompok terarah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sebuah kesadaran warga untuk merubah strategi pencitraan, dari reaktif menjadi proaktif-positif. Media sosial menjadi peluang bagi mereka untuk bersuara. Mereka berupaya menampilkan segala sisi positif desa untuk membalikkan citra sebagai desa pengemis. Mereka memiliki modal untuk melakukannya, yang didukung oleh realitas virtual dan faktual. Realitas faktual menunjukkan banyaknya pegiat media sosial dari Desa Grinting yang aktif dengan akun-akun yang berpengaruh. Sementara realitas faktual menunjukkan modal sosial yang kuat sebagai bahan pemberitaan (content sources). Realitas struktural—bahwa kegiatan pencitraan belum terkelola secara rapi dan terencana menjadi tantangan bagi mereka untuk mewujudkan citra Grinting sebagai desa yang dirindukan (ngangeni), sebagai ganti citra ‘Desa Pengemis’.

Abstract

Objectivity has become the basis for the practice of contemporary journalism. Objectivity has becomea major issue during the last century. However, the ethical debate about objectivity was neverfinished. Even the debate that starts from the definition of objectivity itself, the criteria, until thequestion of pessimism, is it possible there is objectivity in this world? Along with the increasingnumber of criticisms of objective journalism, the idea of subjective journalism increasingly widelyaccepted. Subjective journalism often simply interpreted as journalism in context. That is, journalistsdo not merely present the facts, but also presents the meaning. This paper tries to elaboratethe notion of subjective journalism and explore its relevance in contemporary journalism.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic that has lasted for more than a year has changed many things. One thing that has changed is family communication, especially one whose members have been confirmed positive for Covid-19. This study aims to determine: 1) the communication patterns of the families of covid-19 survivors; 2) the supporting and inhibiting factors in healing psychological trauma due to Covid-19; and 3) the communication patterns of the survivors before, during, and after recovering from Covid-19. The research method used is a case study conducted in Sawitan Village, Banyumas Regency, and Rikmayung Village, Cilacap Regency. The study results show that: 1) family members are the prominent supporters of communication during survivors experiencing symptoms of Covid-19, and during the initial recovery period and socializing with the community; 2) the supporting factor for healing psychological trauma is family communication with a positive tone and good communication with neighbours and the environment, while the inhibiting factor is communication avoidance, and 3) Covid-19 survivors tend to communicate more empathy with other sufferers and are more careful in carrying out health protocols.

Abstract

Banyumas Regency is an area that has begun to develop village potency with its attention in village tourism. The problem is in the lack of community's role on promoting tourism potential. Hyperlocal communication is a technology that can help communities to introduce their potency. Hyperlocal communication can be found on social media, social networks us such as whatsapp, search engines, or websites. This study tries to explore the use of hyperlocal communication for the promotion of Taman Lazuardi, and to see community participation in developing the potential of their village. The purpose of this research is to find out what hyperlocal communication media is used by the manager of Taman Desa Lazuardi and how the role of the community on promoting the potential of their village. This study uses qualitative methods and descriptive data analysis. From the data obtained through interviews and focus group discussions (FGD), the researchers found: (1) the media used for promotion of the Taman Desa Lazuardi is Instagram, (2) the manager's strategy in utilizing Instagram is to create interesting content, and collaborate with content creators to promote Taman Desa Lazuardi, and (3) community role enhancement in promoting village potential.

Abstract

Social media plays an important role in today's adolescent reproductive health campaigns. This media is the media most used by teenagers. Its interactive and attractive characteristics match the youth's soul. This article explores how reproductive health campaigns are carried out on social media, especially YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. The main focus is (1) Who are the actors involved in the youth reproductive health campaign and (2) what is the message content of the campaign. The research was conducted using descriptive qualitative methods, with a pragmatic approach. The data was extracted using qualitative content analysis techniques, which were then analysed in a narrative manner. The research findings show that message producers are both individuals and institutions. Individual message creators consist of influencers and health practitioners. The institutions that take part are educational institutions, hospitals or health centres’, non-governmental organizations, the health community, and the BKKBN. The campaign messages take various forms, following the social media platforms. Most of the campaigns on YouTube are carried out by institutions that display long videos containing education and consultation on reproductive and sexuality issues, as well as coverage of related events. The campaign on Instagram is also dominated by the institute, with messages in the form of photos and short videos. While on TikTok, campaigns are mostly carried out by individuals or influencers, with more attractive messages. Messages in the form of short videos on TikTok have received wide attention from netizens, which is reflected in the large number of related video views. In TikTok, sensitive messages such as sex before marriage are conveyed.

Abstract

Humour was and is commonly used as a creative means in advertisements. Adult humour specifically commonly used in mature focused products advertisements or in a restrictive timeslot. Don’t Aviation and Mint itself was an advertisement for both an alcohol beverages and mobile phone services with plenty of sexual innuendos that uploaded in Ryan Reynolds’ Youtube channel in which could be accessed even in restricted mode of Youtube. Thus, this study aims to (1) analyse the Don’t Aviation and Mint video for semiotic patterns and (2) elaborate how humour is used in the aforementioned video. It was carried out using a descriptive qualitative approach with semiotic analysis based on the Saussure model of sign. The narrative analysis of the signs unravels the use of humour as an explanatory tool, creative ways in structuring the advertisement and inciting audiences’ attraction. This study also shows that Don’t Aviation and Mint used adult humour in various ways in both monologue and visual aspects. The adult humour itself was presented with varying degree of clarity through farce, slangs, a swear word and emojis.
