Abstract

This study is aimed at measuring the effectiveness of policy communication in promoting #KangPisMan program among university students. #KangPisMan is a top priority program of Bandung Municipal Government to tackle waste management problem. In this sense, the problem of plastic waste has become a global concern about environment, therefore it is a hope that, by promoting #KangPisMan, a new lifestyle will make people more aware of environmental sustainability. The program was established in 2018, so it is necessary to measure the effectiveness of its communicating strategy. In terms of public communication, the realization of promoting the program should be measured based on its optimal value. The present study seeks to analyse the effectiveness of communication strategy by employing 7C concepts as introduced. The questionnaire was distributed to 300 respondents (based on purposive sampling) which were registered as students of Faculty of Social Sciences Education, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. Validity of the questionnaire is measured by corrected item-total correlation. The analysis shows that communication strategy in promoting #KangPisMan was relatively effective by considering the lowest scores of continuity and consistency. It shows that the aspect of consistency in promoting the program should be enhanced. Meanwhile, the aspect of credibility had the highest value. Therefore, it is a big capital to promote the program through the role model as reflected by the team. In general, all respondents were satisfied of the communication strategy in promoting the program. However, the effectiveness is still potential to be developed in the upcoming time.

Abstract

Abstract

Intolerance behaviors that are not anticipated may give birth to the danger of radicalism both psychologically and physically.  This study aims at exploring the way to select and discover informational sources related to the topics; at investigating a means of estimating, accepting, and determining the best thing in the future; at analyzing a means of building new knowledge associated with gained information; and discovering a means of providing and broadcasting information on the website.  This study used case study method in order to observe the reality of information literacy and the danger of intolerance among the net generation Observation findings show that the doctrine of intolerance was spread through group discussions of religious Student Activity Unit (UKM). The massive spread of radical viruses is supported by the dominance of the internet as the main medium in information searching. The condition is made worse by low information literacy skills. The results of this study expected to be able to be used as references relating to information literacy for the net generation to anticipate the danger of intolerance which is the forerunner of radicalism. The results showed that the low reading abilities led to a conservative interpretation of religious meanings, which considered one’s understanding more correct and accused others as infidels. This phenomenon can be seen from the discovery of limited new knowledge. Hence, the knowledge of information literacy must be introduced in lecture rooms and within intra-university activities.

Abstract

Abstract. Nowadays, the world is experiencing climate change and water pollution which can have bad impact on many aspects. Thus, the purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between media synchronicity and task performance and communication performance in rehabilitating rivers from domestic waste in the Citarum Harum program. This study uses survey and the withdrawal technique uses multi-clustering, by choosing an area that is very close to the river which is the target of the Citarum Harum Program. The population is taken from two villages in Bandung Regency with heavily polluted river water quality status and uses multiple correlation coefficients and structural equation modeling partial least squares 3 as the data analysis technique. It shows a weak relationship between communication process variables and task performance and a negative relationship between the effects of moderation on communication performance. So, it is necessary to develop further models to improve these sub-variables.

Abstract

The findings of this study can be utilized to enhance the effectiveness of direct communication in outreach programs aimed at reducing plastic waste pollution in rivers. Practically, this research facilitates community understanding, encourages active participation, and promotes better collaboration in efforts to maintain river water quality, particularly in the West Java region. This study used multi-stage sampling to select the areas with the highest pollution levels in West Java Province, Indonesia. From pre-research and observation, two areas were selected, namely Bandung City and Bandung Regency. The area is prone to pollution and flooding due to plastic waste clogging. Respondents were selected as many as 503 heads of families who live about 10 to 100 meters from the river. This research employs the statistical analysis to examine the relationships between variables in plastic waste management programs. This approach facilitates the prediction of the impact of synchronous communication on community participation in maintaining river water quality. The results of the hypothesis test showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between the tested constructs. The synchronous communication construct affects the Communication Process, which in turn influences Communication Performance and Task Performance. The communication process that produces good sharing understanding will increase the involvement and participation of the community to be involved in the task of cleaning up plastic waste in rivers. Community participation since 2008 has had a positive significance with the improvement of river water quality in West Java, Indonesia.
