Abstract

The physical restriction policy by the Indonesian government during the COVID-19 pandemic has had significant implications for communication and information technology-based academic activities for educational institutions. The existence of interaction restrictions can inhibit the increase in the spread of the virus, but on the other hand the campus as an educational institution whose key activity is interaction must be able to adapt so that it can still carry out academic activities optimally. This study aims to examine two things in the scope of communication, namely communication patterns and communication barriers that occur within the scope of academic activities during the Enforcement of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM). This study uses a qualitative method with case studies. To understand these communication patterns and communication barriers, we conducted in-depth interviews with the academic community of the University of Indonesia Education. The research findings show that to interact with lecturers and education staff, students can only communicate through the Learning Management System (LMS), whatsapp, and video teleconferencing. The interaction process often experiences obstacles so that it experiences misperceptions and late feedback. The conclusion of this study is that communication patterns in the academic community of the University of Indonesia Education are carried out through the medium of communication and information technology. This study also found three types of communication barriers that occur among the academic community, firstly technical barriers, secondly semantics, and thirdly psychological barriers. Further research will focus on testing the effectiveness of online learning on students' cognitive aspects.

Abstract

As time goes by, the policy for the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) has begun to loosen along with the start of face-to-face learning activities in schools. The transition from distance learning to face-to-face learning has brought significant changes to junior high school students in terms of how they access the information they need related to learning. This study tries to examine the pattern of student information seeking during the transition period. This research is qualitative research with observations and interviews with students of SMPN 1 Cibatu Kab. Garut. The research findings indicate that the information search pattern based on David Ellis' information search model, only 3 processes are passed by students namely starting, chaining, browsing. Changes in the habitual pattern of seeking information through internet-based search engines make students not carry out an in-depth search for information. The transition from distance learning to face-to-face learning implies that internet-based information sources are the main source for meeting information needs in the educational environment. Future research will focus on the effectiveness of using search engines as a means of student learning. Keywords: information literacy, information search patterns. face-to-face learningABSTRAKSeiring berjalannya waktu kebijakan Pemberlakuan Pembatasan Kegiatan Masyarakat (PPKM) yang mulai melonggar beriringan dengan kegiatan mulainya aktifitas pembelajaran tatap muka di sekolah. Abstract

Melalui model komunikasi Lasswell (who says what in which channel to whom), peneliti ingin mengkaji bagaimana dokter di Sumatera Barat menjalankan strategi komunikasi dalam program vaksinasi nasional.

Abstract

There have been advances achieved in modern medicine but traditional treatment methods using certain spiritual approached have become increasingly popular in many parts of the world. Certain Sufi practices, among others, is used in medical treatment to support the healing process. Based on a case study on the practice of Sufi therapy conducted by Akang Syamsudin in the Limbangan Garut area, West Java, Indonesia this article attempts to explore the conversion process and dynamics of the development of Sufi healing. Employing a qualitative approach and Miles and Huberman landscape approach, and supported with interviews, observations, and documentation the research finds that Syamsudin’s Sufi therapy method combines physical and spiritual principles. Syamsudin’s therapeutic approach is based on the following seven factors, are: 1) belief that every disease has a cure; 2) balance and moderation are directly proportional to physical health; 3) spiritual factors dominate over physical factors; 4) the importance of blood circulation; 5) the efficacy of positive suggestion; 6) belief and submission to God’s will; 7) the effectiveness of patience and consistency. The research implications open a new paradigm in the field of non-invasive treatments. This article suggests that modern medical treatment should be complemented with spiritual therapy in order to achieve more positive healing outcomes for patients.
