Abstract

Using of endophytic fungi to control Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. capsici and Alternaria solani invitro. This research aimed to know efectivity of endophytic fungi to control F. oxysporum f.sp.capsici and A. solani in vitro. This research was conducted on Plant Disease Laboratory, Faculty ofAgriculture, University of North Sumatera, used Randomized Complete Design with two factors intwo replicates. First factor was kind of pathogen (F. oxysporum f.sp. capsici and A.solani). Secondfactor was kind of endophytic (E1, E2, E3, E4, E5, E6, E7, E8, E9, E10, E11, E12, E13, E14 andE15). The result showed that kind of phatogen, kind of endophytic and interaction between them sosignificantly effect on inhibiting zone, growth width of colony and diameter of colony. The bestresult was showed on E6 and E3 to control F. oxysporum and A. solani with 56.89% and 54.10 %inhibiting zone.Key words: endophytic fungi, F.oxysporum, A. solani.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effetiviness of Botanical termiticide tuba root (Derris elliptica(Roxb) Benth) and citronella (Cymbopogon nardus L) of mortality of termites (Coptotermescurvinagthus Holmgren) in laboratory. This method uses Randomized Complete Design with twofactor : the first factor was concentration of termiticide (Control, Soluble of tuba root 200 g/ L water,Soluble of tuba root 300 g/ L water, Soluble of tuba root 200 g / L water, Soluble of citronella 300 g / Lwater, Soluble of citronella of 200 g / L water) and second factors was application technique (feedingand spraying).The result showed that concentration and application technique of termiticidesignificantly effected the mortality of termites. The highest mortality (83,86%) on soluble of tuba root300 gr / water and the lowest ( 0 %) on control. Abstract

The objective of this research was to study the effect of some pupae size of sugarcane stem boreron the Tetrastichus sp. population in laboratory. Complete randomized complete design with twofactors, i.e Tetrastichus sp. population ( 4, 5, and 6 pair ), and PBR, PBB, and PBK pupae size(pupae size of PBR : 2-2.9 cm, 3-3.4 cm and ≥ 3.5 cm, pupae size of PBB : 0.5-0.9 cm, 1-1.4 cmand ≥ 1.5 cm, pupae size of PBK : 0.5-0.9 cm, 1-1.4 cm and ≥ 1.5 cm) and three replications wasused to conducting this research at Laboratory of Sugarcane Research and Development SeiSemayang, Binjai, Medan, North of Sumatera from February until July 2013. The results showedthat pupae size of PBR, PBB and PBK significantly affected the number of emerging parasitoidadult and sex ratio. The highest number of parasitoid adult (19.84 adult) was founded at pupae sizeof PBR ≥ 3.5 cm treatment, meanwhile the lowest (0.94 adult) was founded at pupae size of PBK0.5-0.9 cm treatment. Sex ratio of male and female was 1 : 3.08.Keywords : Parasitoid, Sugarcane stem borer, Tetrastichus sp.

Abstract

The objective of the research was study of  the effectivity test  of  fungi entomopathogen    Beauveria  bassiana  and  Metarhizium anisopliae on different conydia densities to infect the rodentadult green stink bug  (Nezara viridula L.) This research was conducted at the screen house Facultyof Agriculture, University of North Sumatra, from Desember 2013 until Mei 2014. This researchusing Randomized Block Design non factorial with 7 treatments (control, suspension  M. anisopliaewith conydia density 107/70 ml water, suspension M. anisopliae with conydia density 10/70 mlwater, suspension M. anisopliae with conydia density 109/70ml water, suspension  B. bassiana withconydia density 107/70 ml water, suspension B. bassiana with conydia density 10/70 ml water,suspension B. bassiana  with conydia density 109/70 ml water) with three replications. The results showed that fungi entomopathogen B. bassiana and M. anisopliae affected significantly topercentage of mortality, percentage of natalitas, and soy production. The best result for thepercentage of mortality was N3 (suspension  M. anisopliae with conydia density 10/70 ml water)with 94.44%, The highest percentage of  natalitas was  Nwith 96.40%, The highest soy productionwas N3 (suspension  M. anisopliae with conydia density 100 9/70 ml water) with 20.77 gr/polibeg/6crop.Key words:  Glicyne  max L.,  Nezara viridula L.,  Metarhizium anisopliae, Beauveria bassiana 898

Abstract

The aim of research was to get an effective control technique to control Setothosea asigna onvegetative phase of palm oil in greenhouse. The research was held at Greenhouse of AgricultureFaculty University of Sumatera Utara, Medan since April – May 2014. The method of this researchwas Completely Randomized Design Non Factorial with seven treatments, M0 (control), M1 (2gram MNPV/ litre of water), M2 (Bacillus thuringeensis with concentration 7.5%), M3 (neem leafextracts with concentration 4%), M4 (Forficulla auricularia three pairs), M5 (insecticidedeltametrin with concentration 3%) and M6 (insecticide dimetoat with concentration 1%)respectively with four replications. The parameters are the percentage of mortality, symptoms deathof pests and time death of pest. The result showed that insecticide deltametrin most effective thanthe others with percentage of mortality 100% at 4 days after application. The fastest time death ofimago was 1.63 day after application with symptoms body of S. asigna was white like milk.Keywords: control technique, Setothosea asigna, mortality, time death

Abstract

The aim of the research was to get effective concentration of chitosan suspension to controltermites (Coptotermes curvignathus) on the rubber plants in the field. This research was conductedin experiment field at Sungei Putih Research Centre since March until June 2014. This researchused Randomized Block Design Non Factorial with 6 treatments, 0, 6, 12, 18, 24 and 30 g whichapplicated with bait and three replications. The result showed that the highest percentage (100%)of termites mortality was 18 g treatment and the lowest (18.67%) at control treatment five day afterapplication. The symptoms infection of chitosan was characterized by discoloration of the abdomenwhich beginning white to blackish brown.Keywords : termites, chitosan, bait

Abstract

This research aims to know antagonism of saprophytic and endophytic fungi against Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubens in Laboratory. The research was conducted at Plant Disease Laboratory, Agroecotechnology Program Study, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatera Utara Medan from May to September 2014. It was done by using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) non factorial with seventeen treatments and three replications. The results showed all the saprophytic fungi (Gliocladium sp. and Acrostalagmus sp.) and endophytic fungi (Cephalosporium sp,. Pullularia sp., Aspergillus sp., Penicilium sp., Trichoderma sp. and Hormiscium sp.) potential as biological agents to control F. oxysporum f. sp. cubens in vitro. The best results obtained on Pullularia sp. with the ability to inhibit 60.577%. Interactions between saprophytic and endophytic fungi against F. oxysporum f. sp. cubens causing the hyphae of F. oxysporum f. sp. cubens malformations and lysis.Keywords: banana, Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubens, saprophytic fungi, endophytic fungi, nnninteraction

Abstract

The objectives of the research was to know the preferences of stink bug (N. viridula) on soybean plant and long bean in screenhouse. This research was conducted in the screenhouse Faculty of Agriculture University of Sumatera Utara from April until July 2014. This method used Block Randomized Design (BRD) nonfactorial with two treatments soybean and long bean, respectively with nine replications. The results showed that N. viridula prefer soybean than long bean. The highest number of adults N. viridula (10.17 head) on K1. The highest index attack percentage (83.95%), most attack symptoms, and the highest number of eggs N. viridula (31.56 grain) on soybean while the highest number of nymphs (9.67 head) on long bean.Key words: preferences, Nezara viridula, soybean, long bean.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to know effective concentrationof M. anisopliae and HaNPV to Helicoperva armigera in the field. This research was carried out in Desa Tanjung Makmur Subdistrict Tandem Hulu 1 District Deli Serdang. This research used sampling random technique non factorial with seven treatments and four replications. They were the result showed that the highest larvae population was control (1.35) and the lowest was HaNPV 6g/liter of water (0.10). The highest of attacked intensity was control (38.75% ) and the lowest was HaNPV 6g/liter of water (2.50%). The highest production was HaNPV 6g/liter of water (261.09 g) and the lowest was M. anisopliae 4g/liter of water(234.45 g).Keywords : Helicoverpa armigera, Metarhizium anisopliae, Helicoverpa armigera Nuclear Polyhedrosis Virus (HaNPV).

Abstract

This study aims to study phatogenicity of C. militaris against S. asigna larvae in screen house. This study research using completely randomized design (CRD) nonfactorial with seven treatments and four replications, namely control, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 grams C. militaris with corn media. The results showed that the application C. militaris in corn media was highly significant affected the mortality percentage of larvae S. asigna on obsevation four days after application and six days after the application. The highest mortality percentage on four days after application on C. militaris 35 gr (25%) and the lowest on C. militaris 10 grams (7.50%). The highest mortality percentage on six days after the application on C. militaris 35 grams, C. militaris 30 grams and C. militaris 25 grams (100%) and the lowest on C. militaris 10 grams (85%). Larvae S. asigna was infected by C. militaris suffered mimification and after afew days grow colonies colored white fungus (micelium) around the larva body.Keywords : Setothosea asigna, Cordyceps militaris, mortality percentage, corn media
