Abstract

Abstract

This paper deals with determination of ordering policy for perishable goods, namely joint order policy or individual order policy. Expiration date is an important factor to be considered in the inventory system, especially in chemical or food industry. The problem becomes more complicated when the company has more goods with different expired dates. Another factor that has an influence to the inventory system is the supplier discount factor. A company can get benefit from this factor in order to reduce a total cost of inventory. In this paper, performance’s criteria used for the selected policy is ordering policy that minimize the total cost of inventory by considering the expiration date and all unit discount.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Strengthening Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) is crucial for reducing economic disparities in rural areas and promoting sustainable community development. While previous studies have primarily focused on financial structures and regulatory frameworks, this research adopts a participatory approach that actively engages local stakeholders in capacity-building efforts. Using BUMDes Mekarsari in Garut Regency as a case study, the study examines how participatory strengthening programs enhance the socio-economic resilience of rural communities. Employing qualitative methods—including in-depth interviews and field observations—it identifies key factors influencing BUMDes effectiveness, such as continuous training, institutional collaboration, and improved access to finance. The findings reveal that a participatory model not only fosters community engagement but also improves business sustainability and expands economic opportunities. In particular, the involvement of women and local artisans demonstrates the program’s inclusivity and potential for social transformation. Moreover, the integration of digital marketing strategies has opened new market access, further supporting rural entrepreneurship. To maximize practical impact, the study offers concrete policy recommendations, including strengthening institutional support for BUMDes, fostering multi-sector partnerships, and enhancing financial accessibility through local and national policies. These insights contribute to a more inclusive framework for rural economic empowerment, providing policymakers with a strategic foundation for designing community-driven BUMDes programs that ensure their long-term success as catalysts for local development.

Abstract

Abstract

The rate of return on investment for unit-linked insurance products in Indonesia is still volatile and depends on the investment instruments performance. However, the net return on investment that is given to policyholders is projected at the beginning of the year and is used as a benchmark for choosing the right investment instrument, referred to as the credited interest rate. Interest rates movements affect the yield of the credited interest rate. Therefore, the credited interest rate calculation requires appropriate methods to reduce the risk of loss, which are the Investment Year Method and the Portfolio Method. Research shows that the Investment Year Method is more appropriate in unstable interest rate condition, whereas the Portfolio Method is better utilized in a stabilized environment. In addition, this research also shows the strategy to manage investment instruments with asset rollover to suit the fluctuating credited interest rate.

Abstract

Inventory management is an important thing to be considered in order to run the activities of a company smoothly. By considering deterioration factor, partial backlogging policy and different type of demand functions, we develop a mathematical model for multi-item inventory system. In this paper, three inventory models with constant deterioration, partial backlogging, with various demand functions are developed. We consider inventory-dependent demand, time-dependent demand and exponential demand function in each model. In addition, we also consider the replenishment policies for those three items, viz. individual replenishment, joint replenishment and combination both individual and joint replenishments. Sensitivity analysis of the models is also performed, and we found that the ordering cost greatly affects the total inventory cost when comparing the available replenishment policies.

Abstract

Customer satisfaction is a crucial aspect that consistently takes center stage in business operations. In light of this, companies must devise appropriate strategies to fulfill customer demands. Consequently, this study delves into examining various factors that facilitate the supply process, including the application of discounts. Moreover, in line with the advancements in eco-green concepts, businesses have begun considering carbon emission factors concerning storage and distribution, which is further supported by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). In this context, the paper presents an enhanced version of the economic order quantity model encompassing all-unit discount and carbon emission factors. The developed model entail inventory management approaches where demand relies on inventory levels, inventory levels coupled with selling prices, time-dependent demand, and exponentially declining demand patterns. The primary objective is to aid companies in optimizing their inventory management by determining the optimal quantity of goods while minimizing overall costs. Sensitivity analysis conducted to observe the influence on the reorder point (T), total inventory cost (TC), and total carbon emission (TE) reveals that lower unit purchase prices, driven by high demand, correspond to larger order quantities. Furthermore, it is worth noting that the higher average carbon emission within warehouses result in increased carbon emissions overall.

Abstract

In general, companies have inventory stored in warehouses to be used or sold in the future. To optimize inventory, companies require a model to determine the appropriate order quantity and optimal reorder timing to minimize total inventory costs. To stay within the set capacity, several factors need to be considered in inventory management, such as a product's shelf life, warehouse capacity, and capital. On the other hand, suppliers may offer discounts, and companies tend to take advantage of them. However, they must consider the warehouse capacity and capital availability. This paper constructs two probabilistic multi-item inventory models, considering discounts, expiration, warehouse capacity, and capital constraint. The first model considers all-unit discounts, while the second deals with incremental discounts. We consider three items to be managed and examine three replenishment policies, namely individual order, joint order, and a combined policy of individual and joint order, to minimize the total inventory cost. Sensitivity analysis is performed on the joint order policy to determine the influence of parameter values' changes on the reorder time and total inventory cost.
