Abstract

Infancy is an important period for growth and development. One of the factors causing problems in baby's weight is a lack of nutrient intake, which is often caused by babies having difficulty eating and choosing food. Tui Na massage is an alternative way to increase weight. The method in this research uses a pre-experimental research design type one group pretest-posttest. The sampling technique used purposive sampling technique. The sample used was 30 babies. Data analysis consists of univariate analysis, which is carried out based on the type of data, both categorical and numerical, and bivariate analysis using the t-test. The results of this study showed that before the Tui Na massage, all 30 babies aged 6-12 months had a fixed weight, that is, the weight after being given the Tui Na massage was that most of the babies gained weight, totaling 27 babies. This shows that there is an effect of Tui Na massage on body weight in babies aged 6-12 months with a p-value of 0.001.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is menstrual pain that can interfere with adolescents’ daily activities and has the potential to decrease Red Blood Cell (RBC) levels, thereby increasing the risk of anemia. Anemia may affect learning concentration, productivity, and future reproductive health. Non-pharmacological therapies such as Sanyinjiao (SP6) acupressure and cinnamon decoction (Cinnamomum burmannii) are known to have the potential to increase RBC levels through improved blood circulation and natural antioxidant activity. This study aims to determine the effect of the combination of SP6 acupressure and cinnamon decoction on RBC levels among adolescents experiencing dysmenorrhea. The study employed a quantitative pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design. The study population consisted of 52 adolescents at the Youth Posyandu of Karang Asem Village, Klampis, Bangkalan, with a sample of 32 individuals selected through purposive sampling. The intervention was carried out for 5 days in the form of SP6 acupressure and consumption of cinnamon decoction twice daily. RBC levels were measured before and after the intervention using an automated hematology analyzer. The Paired t-test results showed a significant increase in RBC levels (p = 0.000). It is concluded that the combination of SP6 acupressure and cinnamon decoction is effective in increasing RBC levels among adolescents with dysmenorrhea.

Abstract

Background: Dysmenorrhoea is a common menstrual pain complaint among adolescents that may interfere with daily activities. Non-pharmacological therapies such as red ginger decoction and LV3 acupressure are considered effective, safe, and affordable alternatives. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of combining red ginger decoction and LV3 acupressure in reducing dysmenorrhoea among adolescents. Methods: This pre-experimental study applied a one group pre-test–post-test design with 30 female students from Nurusshaleh MTs and Senior High School, Katol Timur, Kokop Sub-district, Bangkalan, Madura. Interventions were given for two consecutive days: red ginger decoction twice daily and LV3 acupressure once daily. Pain intensity was assessed using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Results: The Wilcoxon signed-rank test showed a significant reduction in pain (p=0.000). Before intervention, most respondents reported moderate (43.3%) and severe pain (46.7%). After intervention, 70.0% reported mild pain and 30.0% reported no pain. Conclusion: Gingerol in red ginger has anti-inflammatory and anticoagulant properties, while LV3 acupressure stimulates endorphin release. The combination effectively reduces dysmenorrhoea and can be recommended as an alternative therapy that is practical, inexpensive, and self-applicable.

Abstract

Fluor albus, or pathological vaginal discharge, is a common reproductive health disorder experienced by women of childbearing age (WUS). The primary cause is often related to Candida albicans fungal infection. Azole-based pharmacological therapy is known to be effective, but has the potential to cause resistance and side effects. This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of WUS in the Keputran Village, Surabaya, regarding the use of mulberry leaf decoction (Morus alba L.) as an alternative herbal treatment for fluor albus. The activity included health education, demonstrations on how to make herbal concoctions, and evaluation of participants' knowledge through discussions and questions and answers. The results showed a 90% increase in community knowledge regarding the prevention and treatment of fluor albus, and 85% of participants expressed interest in implementing this herbal treatment. This activity demonstrates that community empowerment through an educational approach and hands-on practice can increase awareness and independence in maintaining women's reproductive health naturally and sustainably.
