Abstract

Since the early 20th century, villages in the city of Yogyakarta has started to become villages of tourism following the government promoting tourism in the region. Originally carrying local and cultural identities, those villages appear to be touristic, accommodating the needs of the visitors. This work attempts to explore how this social phenomenon happening to two urban villages within the city namely Kampung Kauman and Kampung Prawirotaman. It focuses on explaining how the villagers actively play their roles in the neighborhood in social and cultural processes within the new environment and physical space.  The appropriate data found in the field is analyzed accordingly to the research questions by employing a qualitative approach.  The work suggests that cultural identity has changed in these two urban villages as a result of the influence of external values promoting the redefinition and redesign of public and social space. Besides, it also finds that delegitimization of the identity of Kampung and communality dislocation has occurred due to tourism purposes. The new formulation of the Kampung does not only reflect the emergence of new ideology and tradition but also stimulate resistance, conflict, and negotiation. This study recommends the importance of mentoring programs from the strategic stakeholders for better space and cultural transformation leading to the prevention of the damage of local wisdom basis within urban communities.

Abstract

One of the causes of the high maternal mortality rate is the delay in seeking help. Delays in seeking help will have an impact on further delays, namely delays in utilizing health facilities which result in delays in receiving appropriate and adequate services. This study is a qualitative research with a phenomenological approach by collecting data through in-depth interviews with families of cases of maternal death in Berau with the aim of exploring the family's experience in the process of seeking health help by utilizing health services for pregnant women. The results showed that social support was related to family demographics with treatment practices still found based on local tribal customs. Perceived severity and vulnerability motivated families to seek health care. Trust in the ability of health workers also plays a role in the utilization of health facilities. This study provides information for families of pregnant women, communities and policy makers in designing more effective health programs, especially increasing knowledge related to maternal health. Improving the professionalism and competence of health workers as an attraction for the community to choose health services as the first choice when they need help Keyword: Maternal mortality;health seeking behavior ;health care utilization

Abstract

Premarital sexual behavior has become a significant social issue among adolescents in Indonesia, particularly concerning the high rates of child marriage and unintended pregnancies. Despite efforts to promote Marriage Maturity to reduce these rates, its effectiveness requires further investigation, especially in the context of adolescent motivation to avoid risky sexual behavior. This study aims to explore adolescent motivation to avoid premarital sexual behavior by applying the Protection Motivation Theory (PMT), which involves threat appraisal and coping appraisal in adolescent decision-making to delay early marriage. This research employs a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Informant consisted of adolescents aged 15-19 years in Samarinda City who had received information about marriage maturity. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with six purposively selected Informant using intensity sampling techniques. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation and documentation. Collected data were analyzed using QSR NVIVO 12 Pro. The findings reveal that adolescents’ understanding of marriage maturityis still limited, and the threat of premarital sexual behavior is perceived as low by most Informant. Factors such as perceptions of severity adolescents are quite good because they have seen firsthand the impacts of premarital sex. For response efficacy and self-efficacy in delaying the age of marriage, these are relatively high among adolescents exposed to PUP. This is because they have parental and peer support providing information related to PUP. Additionally, social environment, media exposure, and education levels shape adolescents' responses to marriage maturityas a protective measure.

Abstract

Background: This study aimed to analyze the influence of attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control (PBC) on adolescents' mental health help-seeking intentions among high school students in North Sangatta. Methods: This study uses an observational, cross-sectional design. A sample of 551 respondents was collected via a structured questionnaire distributed via Google Forms to homeroom teachers and analyzed using multiple linear regression. Results: 43.9% of students with neutral attitude scores had high intentions to seek mental health help; 57.2% of students with high subjective norm scores had high intentions; and 43.9% of students with neutral perceived behavioral control (PBC) scores had high intentions. Parents were the source of health support for the majority of students, and the least accessed sources were online consultation services and through a boyfriend/girlfriend. The results of multiple linear regression tests showed that attitude (p-value: 0.015), subjective norm (p-value: 0.005), and PBC (p-value: 0.001) influenced the outcome, with a correlation coefficient of 7.4%. This means that the variables of attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control can explain 7.4% of the variation in mental health help-seeking. Conclusion: The findings reveal that PBC is the most influential variable in mental health help-seeking intention. Increasing mental health literacy for parents and teachers, community support, stigma reduction, and parent participation are necessary to enhance the values of attitude, subjective norm, and PBC among high school students in North Sangatta.
