Abstract

Linear Accelerator (Linac) plays a critical role in external radiotherapy for cancer treatment, requiring stringent quality assurance (QA) measures to ensure accuracy and safety. This study focuses on analyzing the implementation of daily QA for the Elekta Prices Linac model Precise at the Radiation Oncology Unit of RSUP Persahabatan. Conducted from May to July 2024, the analysis evaluates four key parameters: Laser Localization, Optical Distance Indicator (ODI), Door Interlock, and Audiovisual Monitor. The results demonstrate that all parameters met the tolerance limits set by AAPM Task Group 142, ensuring the Linac operates safely and effectively. Consistent implementation of daily QA is shown to detect potential deviations early, safeguarding both patient and staff safety while maintaining treatment quality.

Abstract

Pengendalian mutu (Quality Control/QC) pada CT Scan adalah langkah penting untuk memastikan kualitas gambar diagnostik yang optimal serta mengurangi risiko paparan radiasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menilai kesesuaian CT Number pada air dan mengevaluasi keberadaan artefak pada MSCT di Rumah Sakit Hewan Sunset Vet Kuta. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif dengan desain observasi. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 7 slice citra dengan pengukuran CT Number dilakukan pada 5 titik menggunakan phantom air. Evaluasi artefak dilakukan secara visual pada semua slice citra. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa CT Number pada air berada dalam batas toleransi BAPETEN, yaitu ±4 HU untuk akurasi dan ±2 HU untuk keseragaman. Tidak ditemukan artefak yang signifikan pada slice citra.Kesimpulannya, sistem MSCT yang diuji memenuhi standar kendali mutu, sehingga mampu menghasilkan kualitas gambar yang andal untuk diagnosis kesehatan hewan.

Abstract

This study focuses on evaluating the Daily Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) of the Linear Accelerator (Linac) machine at the Radiation Oncology Unit of Bali Mandara General Hospital (RSUD Bali Mandara). With the growing complexity of radiotherapy technology, ensuring the accuracy and consistency of radiation doses delivered during treatment is crucial for patient safety and effective cancer treatment. This study aims to evaluate the performance of the Linac Varian CX through a series of Daily checks, including output constancy, laser calibration, Optical Distance Indicator (ODI), and safety interlock systems. The results showed that the output constancy had a maximum error of ±2.5%, laser calibration deviation was within 1-2 mm, and the ODI error was within 1-2 mm, all within the tolerance limits set by the AAPM TG-40 standards. Additionally, the safety interlock and audiovisual systems were fully functional, ensuring that all safety protocols were adhered to. These findings demonstrate that the Daily QA/QC procedures implemented at RSUD Bali Mandara effectively maintain the Linac's performance within the established tolerance limits, ensuring the safety and effectiveness of radiation therapy provided to patients. This study underscores the importance of stringent QA/QC practices in radiotherapy and provides insights for potential improvements in clinical practice.
