Abstract

Interpretation as a human product is greatly influenced by the science and orientation of the interpreter. This leads to different interpretations of the Qur'an. A calamite interprets the Qur'an according to his level of knowledge as a mutakallim, as well as a Sufi. This article will show a comparison of the interpretation of the letter muqattha’ah between Imam Al-Maturidi in the book of Tafsir Ta’wilat Ahli As-Sunnah who is the figure of a calam scholar and Ibn Ajibah’s interpretation in his book Al-Bahru al-Madid fi Tafsir Al-Qur’an Al-Mayid as a Sufi scholar. The method applied in this research is qualitative using library studies, research based on library data. Then the data was analyzed using Peirce's semiotic triad theory. This article will describe how the interpretation of Imam Al-Maturidi as a fictional scholar and Ibn Ajibah as a Sufi scholar against the letter muqattha’ah that is located on the opening of the letter. It will begin with the introduction of the basic theory of semiotics Peirce, the understanding of the letters muqatta’ah, as well as the interpretations of letters muqa’ah by Imam al-Muridi and Ibnu Ajibha. Then this interpretation will be applied to the triadic theory Peirces, in the form of representations, objects and interpretations. It can be concluded that a mufasir is very influential as an interpreter of signs or symbols found in the Qur'an. As in the interpretation of Al-Maturidi and Ibnu Ajibah, the Maturidi who is a mutakallim is more inclined to the submission of the meaning to Allah.

Abstract

Era modern ini telah mendapat pandangan negatif terhadap al-Qur’an. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari pemikiran oreintalis yang menganggap bahwa al-Qur’an bersumber dari kitab agama lain seperti Yahudi. Namun, apabila memang al-Qur’an bersumber dari agama lain, mengapa al-Qur’an mengalami perkembangan makna tanpa merubah teks aslinya. Sedangkan kitab agama lain selalu mengalami perubahan teks demi menyesuaikan dengan zaman. Melihat permasalahan tersebut, maka tulisan ini bertujuan untuk membahas bagaimana perkembangan makna kata mahid dalam QS. al-Baqarah ayat 222, khususnya pada tafsir Mafatih al-Ghaib karya Fakhruddin ar-Razi dan tafsir Tafsir al-Ayat al-Kauniyah fi al-Qur’an al-Karim karya Zahgloul an-Najjar demi melihat perkembangan makna. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori semiotika Charles Sanders Peirce. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah metode kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian kajian pustaka. Dengan demikian, didapatkan beberapa kesimpulan di antaranya: pertama, Pertama, Pierce memiliki teori semiotika yang didasarkan pada filsafat dan logika yang terkenal dengan teori tanda. Ketiga teori tanda tersebut muncul dari hubungan triadic tiga dimensi tanda, yaitu representamen, object, dan interpretant. Kedua, dengan analisis makna dapat diketahui bahwa kata mahid memiliki konsep dan makna yang Istimewa, sehingga tidak ada satu kata apapun yang mampu menggantikannya pada ayat 222 surah al-Baqarah. Ketiga, dalam tafsir saintifik, kata mahid selain menunjukan pada darah haid juga menjelaskan waktu haid dan tempat keluarnya haid. Keempat, dengan teori semiotika Pierce dapat diketahui, ternyata terdapat perkembangan makna kata mahid. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari penafsiran Fakhruddin ar-Razi yang hadir pada abad ke 12 dan penafsiran Zaghloul an-Najjar pada abad ke 20. Adapun hal yang paling menakjubkan adalah kehadiran perkembangan makna tanpa sedikitpun merubah teks aslinya. Hal inilah yang menunjukan al-Qur’an tidak sama bahkan tidak bersumber dari kitab agama lain.

Abstract

This article is about ījāz, iṭnāb and musāwah in Qur’an, all three are part of tha ma’ani scinece of balaghah. The purose of writing this article is to find out the meaning of îjâz, ithnâb, dan musâwah and how it is applied in the verse of the Qur’an and what meaning it gives. The method used in this paper uses a qualitative method, sourced from written literature, ulûm Al-Quran, balâghah, tafser books, with a descriptive analysis approach, with decipter, analyze and describe it. The results obtained are that what is meant by îjâz in the study of ma’ani science is a sentence structure in which many meanings are collected and stated in a short editorial clearly and eloquently; ithnâb is the opposite it is adding a lafazh over a meaning for a specific purpose and it has seven forms. Meanhile what is meant by musâwah is disclosure of sentences whose meaning is in accordance with the number of words and the number of words according to the breadth of meaning, no addition or subtraction. Each gives different meaning implications according to the context of the conversation and the will of the speaker of kalam. The purpose of their use is also different, provide an in depth explanation and in the context of the Qur’an verse is to provide a proof that the verse of the Qur’an is the Kalam Allah SWT.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the Qur'anic verses that contain noble female figures using Roland Barthes' signification theory approach. Signification enriches the understanding of God's word through linguistic and mythical analysis. The object of study includes seven female figures immortalized in the Qur'an, namely Maryam, the mother of Moses, Asiyah, Bilqis, two daughters of Prophet Shu'aib, Siti Sarah, and Siti Hajar. This research uses a qualitative method based on library research, with a thematic approach (dirāsat al-mawḍū'iyyah) to one main verse of each character. The results of the analysis show that the portraits of these noble women not only serve as ibrah, but also reflect the principles of gender equality and justice. The reinterpretation of these figures reveals the spiritual and social roles of women in the construction of revelation. The novelty of this research lies in the specific focus on female figures endowed with noble degrees in the Qur'an as well as the integration of Barthes' semiotic approach with the discourse of gender equality. The findings contribute to the development of gender-sensitive Qur'anic interpretation and open up space for a fairer interpretation of the role of women in religious texts. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji ayat-ayat Al-Qur’an yang memuat tokoh-tokoh perempuan mulia dengan menggunakan pendekatan teori signifikasi Roland Barthes. Signifikasi memperkaya pemahaman firman Allah melalui analisis linguistik dan mitos. Objek kajian mencakup tujuh tokoh perempuan yang diabadikan dalam Al-Qur’an, yakni Maryam, ibunda Musa, Asiyah, Bilqis, dua putri Nabi Syu’aib, Siti Sarah, dan Siti Hajar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif berbasis studi pustaka (library research), dengan pendekatan tematik (dirāsat al-mawḍū‘iyyah) terhadap satu ayat utama dari masing-masing tokoh. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa potret perempuan-perempuan mulia tersebut tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai ibrah, tetapi juga mencerminkan prinsip-prinsip kesetaraan dan keadilan gender. Pemaknaan ulang terhadap figur-figur tersebut mengungkap peran spiritual dan sosial perempuan dalam konstruksi wahyu. Kebaruan penelitian ini terletak pada fokus spesifik terhadap tokoh perempuan yang dikaruniai derajat mulia dalam Al-Qur’an serta integrasi pendekatan semiotika Barthes dengan wacana kesetaraan gender. Temuan ini berkontribusi terhadap pengembangan tafsir Al-Qur’an yang peka gender dan membuka ruang pemaknaan yang lebih adil terhadap peran perempuan dalam teks keagamaan.

Abstract

Throughout Islamic history, there have been interpretations of the Qur'an that, instead of explaining Islamic law, have caused divisions among the people and even led to misunderstandings of Islamic teachings themselves. If examined further, the problem is caused by interpretations of the Qur'an in a way that deviates from the correct method and authentic sources. Seeing how important it is to know the methods and sources of interpretation in interpreting the Qur'an, this paper aims to discuss the specific methods and sources of interpretation, specifically in Tafsir Al-Madzhari by Qadi Muhammad. The approach used is a qualitative approach using a literature review in collecting data. The results of this study include: First, Qadi Muhammad Thanaullah Panipati was born in the city of Panipati. He is an expert in Fiqh and Hadith. Second, Qadi Muhammad's specific method in interpreting the Qur'an in Surah Ad-Dhuha is (1) mentioning the name of the surah at the beginning of the interpretation. (2) mentioning the type of surah (Makiyah/Madaniyah) and the number of verses in the surah. (3) including all verses from the surah being interpreted. (4) interpreting the Qur'an by explaining the reasons for the revelation of a letter or verse. (5) paying attention to the degree of hadith. (6) writing down the verse before interpreting it. (7) including the vocabulary or meaning of the verse. (8) interpreting using the rules of I'rab of the Qur'an. (9) using the munasabah of verses in interpreting the Qur'an. (10) explaining the meaning with the help of poetry. (11) mentioning the differences in Qira'at in the letter being interpreted. (12) mentioning the problems of fiqh. Third, the primary sources of interpretation in Al-Madzhari's interpretation of the Ad-Dhuha letter are eleven verses of the Qur'an without narrations, 23 Hadith of the Prophet, 15 Qaul Tabi'in. While the secondary sources of Al-Madzhari's interpretation of the Ad-Dhuha letter are four language rules, six sayings of the mufassirin and sufis, and one Arabic poem. Fourth, if viewed from the source of the interpretation, Al-Madzhari's interpretation falls into the category of interpretations based on the interpretations of the narrations (tafsir bil ma'tsur) because the narrations are more dominant than reason. Meanwhile, if we look at the tsaqafah and hadf mufassir, this interpretation is of a fiqh nature, because in addition to being a judge, he was also an expert in fiqh and hadith.

Abstract

This article examines the story of Prophet Yunus in the Qur'an using A. J. Greimas' structural narrative theory, especially the actant model and narrative functional scheme. This study aims to explore the narrative structure of the story within the framework of structural semiotics in order to show the pattern of meaning transformation and character dynamics in the prophetic journey of Prophet Yunus. The methodology used is a qualitative-descriptive approach with an analysis of related Qur'anic texts, especially in Surah As-Saffat [37]:139–148, Q.S. Al-Anbiya’ [21] : 87-88, Yunus [10]:98, and Al-Qalam [68]:48–50. The results of the analysis show that the narrative structure of the story of Yunus represents six actant positions and three main functional stages that form spiritual and narrative transformation. This study contributes to strengthening the structural approach in the study of narrative interpretation and opens up interdisciplinary space between Qur'anic studies and modern narrative theory.

Abstract

A theologian will interpret the Qur'an according to his knowledge as a mutakallim, as will a Sufi. One of the books of Islamic heritage is Tafsir Al Bahr Al-Madid fi Tafris Al-Qur'an Al-Majid by Ibn A'jibah. This book is one of the books of interpretation that uses the Sufi Ishari approach to interpretation. That is, a style of interpretation based on hidden signs behind the words that contradict the apparent interpretation of the verses of the Qur'an. This article will analyze how Ibn Ajibah interpreted in Tafsir Al-Bahr Al Madid. The objective of the study in this research is to introduce the book Al-Bahrul Madid by Ibn A'jibah along with the specific methods and sources of its interpretation. The method applied in this research is qualitative using literature study. The data was then analyzed using a special method of interpreting the Quran. This tafsir is generally not widely available, and not many researchers have studied or critiqued it. It is rarely referenced compared to other, more well-known Sufi-style tafsirs.
