Abstract

Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) “Mengangkat Martabat Perempuan Lanjut Usia” dilaksanakan di Pasar Kraton, Kota Pasuruan, selama Januari–Juni 2025 untuk memperkuat harkat, ketahanan psikologis, dan kemandirian ekonomi perempuan lanjut usia melalui hasil kegiatan sederhana di alam. Program ini diikuti oleh para lansia yang memilih untuk mandiri tanpa bergantung pada bantuan keluarga maupun bantuan sosial, serta memaknai kegiatan kewirausahaan sebagai bentuk pemeliharaan harga diri, kesehatan mental, dan keberlanjutan hidup di usia senja. Metode pendampingan dilakukan secara partisipatif melalui sesi berbagi pengalaman, penguatan spiritual-psikologis, pembelajaran berdagang sederhana, dan pembentukan kelompok dukungan sosial di pasar. Hasil dari Program Pengabdian Masyarakat (PKM) meliputi peningkatan kepercayaan diri, pengambilan keputusan, dan kemampuan mengelola kegiatan usaha secara mandiri. Interaksi sosial di pasar dan dukungan antar peserta mengurangi kesepian dan memperkuat hubungan dengan lansia. Analisis teoretis mengungkapkan bahwa hasil program berkaitan dengan empat tahap: pemberdayaan psikologis, dukungan antar generasi, dukungan sosial, dan kesejahteraan spiritual. PKM ini menekankan bahwa pemberdayaan para lansia tidak hanya tentang peningkatan pendapatan tetapi juga mencakup pemulihan martabat, makna hidup, dan ketahanan mental, yang dipupuk melalui praktik sehari-hari yang sederhana namun bermakna.

Abstract

Penerapan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (IPA) dalam kehidupan sehari-hari menjadi penting untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep dan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa secara praktis. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan menganalisis bagaimana integrasi fenomena nyata dalam pembelajaran IPA dapat membantu siswa mengaitkan teori sains dengan pengalaman sehari-hari. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan studi lapangan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi kegiatan siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan IPA berbasis konteks nyata, seperti pengamatan perubahan wujud benda, penggunaan energi, dan aktivitas sehari-hari, meningkatkan pemahaman konsep, keterampilan berpikir kritis, dan sikap ilmiah siswa. Kesimpulannya, penerapan IPA dalam kehidupan sehari-hari tidak hanya memperkuat kompetensi akademik, tetapi juga membekali siswa dengan kemampuan menganalisis, memecahkan masalah, dan menerapkan sains dalam situasi nyata, mendukung pengembangan keterampilan abad ke-21.

Abstract

Amidst the rapid flow of globalization and digital transformation marked by the presence of machines, robots, and artificial intelligence, the cultural identity of Islamic boarding schools faces new challenges. This research is significant because it examines how Generation Z students at Al-Yasini Islamic Boarding School adapt to the automated world through linguistic strategies, particularly in their use of English as a symbol and tool of distinction. This research aims to understand the practices and meanings behind the linguistic products produced by students in a modern context, and how this process shapes their identity and social position in global society. This research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing case studies and in-depth interviews with students from the Foreign Language Development Institute, language dormitory mentors, and English teachers. Two theories are used to interpret this phenomenon: Pierre Bourdieu's Cultural Capital, which explains how language becomes a form of symbolic capital in the social structure of Islamic boarding schools, and Jan Nederveen Pieterse's Cultural Hybridization, which highlights how local Islamic boarding school values are reformulated into a global format through English narratives. The results show that Islamic boarding school students not only master language as a technical skill but also produce cultural artifacts such as poetry, speeches, and books in English that combine Islamic values with global expressions. The main findings demonstrate the transformation of the students' identities from local actors to global students capable of negotiating their position in the posthuman world order. The novelty of this research lies in the discovery that Islamic boarding schools, as traditional institutions, can create a foreign language-based educational model that is not assimilative, but rather hybrid, blending local values and global strategies. The theoretical implications enrich the discourse on Islamic boarding school education as a space for the production of cultural capital and a dynamic and reflective field of cultural hybridization towards the future

Abstract

In Indonesia's local economy, language plays a crucial role not only as a medium of communication but also as a strategic resource for fostering trust, building social networks, and creating economic opportunities. While existing research on Arabic in Indonesia predominantly examines its role in religious, educational, and diplomatic settings, its use in daily commercial interactions, particularly in local markets, has remained underexplored. This study addresses this gap by investigating the role of Arabic ‘āmiyyah as both a form of communicative action and a type of linguistic capital in the multicultural marketplace of Pasuruan. Using a qualitative sociolinguistic ethnographic approach, the research was conducted in the Kauman and Jalan Jawa areas of Pasuruan City. Participants included Arab Jamaah traders, customers from Arab, Javanese, and Chinese backgrounds, as well as key informants. Data were gathered through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and recordings of market interactions, and analyzed using discourse and thematic analysis. The findings reveal that Arabic ‘āmiyyah, particularly through code-switching and lexical choices, serves as a key tool for building trust, enhancing customer loyalty, and generating economic value. This highlights the significance of language as a vital microeconomic resource in a multicultural economic context, thereby contributing to the broader understanding of linguistic capital in economic communication.
