Abstract

Language is one of the cultural elements that is a system of speech sounds that are used to communicate by the people who use it. Regional languages are the most prominent distinguishing feature because with the language of each social group or local community feel themselves as a different unity from other groupsThe behavior of speakers is very important and more especially in the Tobelo regional language to young people as the next generation, and it is very important to be explored and developed in the process of social interaction of the community, because some parents and local village governments do not pay attention anymore, so that they as children or as the next generation must continue to learn and develop the Tobelo regional language, so that the language of the Tobelo region / language of the ancestors does not just disappear and can be developed by the younger generation. The behavior of speakers in more dominant communities using Tobelo regional languages to communicate daily is parents compared to young people, this is quite reasonable for parents in Kumo village who are more mastery of Tobelo regional language, both verbally and in writing. The younger generation view that regional languages are less prestigious or rural, but other languages (e.g., Indonesian, or other dominant languages) are considered more prestigious than their local languages. Keywords: speakers, spoken, regional language

Abstract

Indonesia is a multi-cultural country. South Sulawesi itself is known for its cultural diversity which is certainly rooted in the diversity of values that exist in its customary law society. The diversity of values in indigenous peoples in South Sulawesi is an ancestral heritage that has its own peculiarities. One of the unique Bugis traditions that has been going on since ancient times until now is the existence of Bissu. Bissu itself does not fall into the male or female categories. Bissu's duties and role in every Bugis ceremony are as pastors or traditional stakeholders even though Bissu is a community that is highly respected by Bugis people, especially during the kingdom. But nowadays the existence and existence of the Bissu began to become extinct or as if lost and many experienced less sympathy treatment from religious and government in South Sulawesi, even often received repressive treatment. In addition to the extinction of the role and function of Bissu also experienced changes both the value and the form of culture.Although the situation has changed, Bissu community still exists with all its shortcomings. The shrinking number of Bissu and the irregular implementation of traditional ceremonies caused the regeneration of Bissu to gain attention. Bissu's receding success has had an impact on the preservation of other Bugis culture and traditions. Bissu community as the identity of Bugis culture, which has been entrenched in people's lives is feared to be extinct. Keywords: bissu, changes, existence
