Abstract

Hydroxyapatite (HAp) is the most stable form of calcium phosphate and is widely applied in the medical field because it’s properties is similar to the components in certain organs of the human body such as bones and teeth. The aims of this study were to synthesis hydroxyapatite from duck egg shell by precipitation method, studied the effect of Ca/P molar ratio and stirring speed on the hydroxyapatite product and compare the result for such variable. Synthesis HAp was done by three steps. First step was calcination duck eggshell to CaO. Second step, made PCC (Precipitated Calcium Carbonate). Third step, synthesis HAp used precipitation method. Variables used were molar ratio Ca/P 1.67;1.77;1.87 and stirring speed 200, 250, 300 rpm. HAp product was analized by FTIR, XRD, SEM-EDX and BET. The best HAp product was produced at a Ca / P molar ratio and stirring rate at 1.67 and 300 rpm respectively. HAp crystals are hexagonal with a diameter of 23.086 nm. HAp has high purity without contaminated with any other elements and is in the form of agglomerates. The molar ratio of Ca / P results was obtained at 1.55 and the surface area of the HAp was 55.929 m2/g.Keywords : Calcium Phospate, Duck Eggshell, Hydroxyapatite, Precipitation, Synthesis.

Abstract

Zeolite 4A is one of the synthetic zeolite which it is used as ion exchange. This zeolite can be synthesized from silica and alumina. This study aims to utilize the waste in the oil industry as the base material zeolite 4A synthesis and get the best conditions influence the volume ratio of reactants (sodium silicate/sodium aluminate), and long agitation in 4A zeolite synthesis process. 4A zeolite can be synthesized from the ashes of waste oil were melted with sodium hydroxide to make sodium silicate. 4A zeolite synthesis reaction process is done by mixing the reactants (sodium silicate and sodium aluminate) with variation 55:45, 60:40 and 65:35 v:v as well as the long stirring time of 1, 2 and 3 hours, followed by heating at 80 ° C for 8 hours. Zeolite synthesis results were characterized using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometry (FTIR) and X-ray Diffraction (XRD). Zeolite 4A crystallinity best result on the condition of the reactants variation 65:35 ml:ml with stirring 3 hours long and the highest ratio of 1.499.Keywords : ash waste oil, spektofotometri FTIR, XRD, zeolite 4A.

Abstract

Pollution by domestic waste is not only produced from residential areas nevertheless is also produced by attempt in tourism especially lodging facilities and infrastructure such as hotels. One of the effects is the wastewater that produced by the hotel. The hotel wastewater treatment using membranes by ultrafiltration is an easy and effective way. The fabrication of silica membranes is also assisted by supporting materials that is compound by Polyvynil Alcohol (PVA) and Polyethylene Glicol (PEG). In this researches the synthesis of silica membranes with variations composition of the silica mass 8, 10, and 12 gram. The aim of this researches is to learn the effect of variations composition of the silica mass on the membranes synthesized towards separation of the BOD5, COD, and TSS that contained in hotel wastewater. The deflation level of BOD5, COD, and TSS were done by passing hotel wastewater through the silica membranes which is synthesized. The optimum coefficient of silica membranes rejection for deflation level is BOD5, COD, and TSS repeatedly are 72,12%; 79,09% and 87,61% along the value of flux that produced is 22,562 L/m2.Hour. The getting larger composition of silica membranes, then the measure and tightness of the membranes pore that produced are getting bigger and organized along with the coefficient of rejection (%) will also decrease.Keywords : flux and rejection, hotel wastewater, membrane, silica, ultrafiltration.

Abstract

Zeolite 4A is one of the synthetic zeolite which it is used as ion exchange. This zeolite can be synthesized from silica and alumina. In this research, the palm ash is used as source of silica. The purpose of this research is produce the zeolite 4A by using palm ash and getting the best condition of synthesis zeolite 4A. Synthesis of zeolite 4A made by mixing sodium silicate and sodium aluminate with variation of volume at 55:45 and 60:40 mL:mL and variety of gelling temperatures are 60, 70, and 80oC with rate of agitation at 200 rpm. Then the gel formed will be heated in the oven at 80oC for 8 hours and washed it until it’s pH neutral. After that, dried it at 120oC for 3 hours. The synthesis product is analyzed by using spectrophotometry fourier transform infra red (FTIR) and X ray diffraction (XRD). The best conditions of cristalization toproduce the zeolite 4A by using palm ash are temperature at 60oC and variation of volume at 55:45 mL:mL.Keywords : palm ash, spectrophotometry ftir, xrd, zeolite 4A

Abstract

Hydroxyapatite has been applied in the biomedical field as drug delivery. The drug will be absorbed onto the hydroxyapatite surface through the adsorption process. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of initial concentration of doxorubicin (DOX) and the operating temperature on hydroxyapatite adsorption, and to determine the appropriate adsorption equilibrium model. Research began by making a solution of doxorubicin with an initial concentration of 485.83; 661.67; 884.17 mg/L. A 5 mL DOX solution was mixed with 10 mg hydroxyapatite in a beaker glass, then stirred using a magnetic stirrer at 220 rpm at 30, 40, 50 °C for 18 hours. After centrifugation, the concentration of DOX solution in the liquid was tested using UV-Vis spektofotometry. The results showed that the adsorption capacity () increased with increasing initial concentration () DOX. The value of () increased consecutively from 223.86-430.18; 231.59-434.46; 230.48-432.04 mg/g with increasing ofvalue from 485.83-884.17 mg/L at temperature of 30, 40, 50 °C. The highest value of () was obtained at 40 °C, i.e., 231.59-434.46 mg/g. It was found that the Langmuir was an appropriate equilibrium model, where the maximum adsorption capacity () values for each temperature 30, 40, 50 °C are 151.52; 163.93; 181.82 mg/g.Keywords: adsorption, doxorubicin, equilibrium model, hydroxyapatite.

Abstract

Zeolite 4A is one of synthetic zeolite which is used as ion exchange. This zeolite can be synthesized from silica and alumina. In this reaearch , palm ash used as a source of silica. The aims of this research is produce zeolite 4A using palm ash and obtain the optimum process condition of synthesis zeolite 4A. The fusion of palm ash was done in furnace at temperature 500 ᴼC for 5 minutes with various of palm ash:NaOH (25:30 , 25:50 and 25:75 gram/gram). Synthesis perfomed with variation of ratio volume sodium silicate and sodium aluminate (55:45, 60:40 and 65:35 mL/mL). The product was characterized using spectrophotometry fourier transform infra red (FTIR) and X ray diffraction (XRD). Based on the result of characterization, the terbaik process condition was obtained at each variation that is the fusion of palm ash at ratio palm ash:NaOH 25:30 gram/gram and ratio volume sodium silicate and sodium aluminate 65:35 mL/mL.Keyword : palm ash, spectrophotometry FTIR, XRD, zeolite 4A

Abstract

Hydroxyapatite (Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2) is a calcium phosphate compound that has been widely used as a bone implant material because its chemical composition is identical with natural bone. The purposes of this research are synthesis, characterization and study of kinetics of hydroxyapatite formation reaction with PCC (Precipitated Calcium Carbonate) base material of duck eggshell using precipitation method. In this study the samples were taken every 10 minutes as much as 10 mL for 1 hour of stirring, continued stirring up to 24 hours with variation of stirring speed (100; 150; 200; 250; 300 rpm) and ageing for 24 hours. The analysis of Ca concentration in the filtrate was done using the complexometry method. Hydroxyapatite is characterized by XRD. The crystalline structure and the calcium phosphate group in the sample indicate the hydroxyapatite compound. Kinetic synthesis reactions follow the second order equation with the value of reaction rate constant obtained by 0,6277, 0,7284, 0,7668, 0,5674, 0,6285 minutes-1. Abstract

Protein foaming-consolidation method is a technique for production of porous tricalcium phosphate (TCP) using egg yolk as pore creating agent. The purpose of this research was to investigate slurry composition and sintering temperature effect on physical, chemical and mechanical properties of porous TCP and characterizing porous TCP as bones implant. This research start by mixing TCP powder,egg yolk, sago powder and Darvan 821A. The slurries were mechanical stirred at 150 rpm for 3 hours. Then, the slurries were casted in a cylindrical stainless stell mold and heated at 180°C for 1 hour. Subsequently, dried samples were demolded and burned at 600°C for 1 hour. For the final steps, samples were sintered at 1000, 1100 and 1200°C for 1 hour. The compressive strength of porous bodies obtained from this research was 2.29-23.78 MPa with 19.10-71.36% porosity and density worth at 0.899 - 2.557 g/cm3. Abstract

Fly ash contains many elements of the high silica used as a source of silica for the synthesis of ZSM-5. ZSM-5 zeolite synthesis is one that is widely used in industry mainly as a catalyst. This is due to the ZSM-5 has a high activity and selectivity in several hydrocarbon conversion reactions. This study aimed to the synthesis of ZSM-5 of fly ash as a silica source without using templates with the time variation of the synthesis and calcination time. Synthesis performed in autoclaf at 190 ° C with a temperature variation of synthesis time 16, 18, 20 and 22 hours, calcination is done in a furnace to a temperature of 500 0 C with a variation of calcination time 4 hours, 5 hours and 6 hours. Synthesis products were analyzed by FTIR. The results showed that the best conditions for the synthesis of ZSM-5 from fly ash oil is at synthesis time of 20 hours and calcination time 4 hours. The content of ZSM-5 produced in the x-ray analysis is as much as 3%.Keyword : Fly ash, ZSM-5, FTIR, and XRD

Abstract

Zeolite 4A can be used as alternative for replacing phosphate as builder of detergen. It can be synthesized from calcined kaolin. Kaolin in its natural state is less reactive and difficult to form zeolite 4A, threfore kaolin needs to be activated through calcination process. Calcination of kaolin were studied in variation of temperatures from 500˚C, 600˚C, 700˚C, and 800˚C. Sodium aluminate and sodium silicate used as reactants in reaction process of synthesis zeolite 4A mixed in 1, 2 and 3 hours, then heated at 80˚C for 8 hours. The samples were characterized by infrared spectroscopy. A calcination temperature of 700˚C ~ (2 hr) is the optimum for this kaolin to change into a reactive metakaolin which gives zeolite 4A with high crystallinity.                             Keywords: calcination, kaolin, metakaolin, synthesis, zeolite 4A
