Abstract

Liquid Natural Rubber (LNR) is a product of natural rubber latex depolymerization process whose molecular weight specifications are influenced by several factors. Two of them are CoCl2 catalyst content and depolymerization reaction time. This study aims to synthesize Liquid Natural Rubber (LNR) from Latex Natural Rubber and determine the effect of variations in the addition of CoCl2 catalyst levels and reaction time to the molecular weight of the resulting LNR. The first treatment in this study had several stages, namely the preparation of raw materials including dilution of natural rubber latex resulting from cutting of rubber trees into natural rubber latex with dry rubber content (DRC) 20%. After that, the process of depolymerization was continued with the help of a CoCl2 catalyst which varied the levels of CoCl2 1 phr, reaction times 7, 8 and 9 hours, stirring speed of 250 rpm and stirring temperature of 70 ºC. The final stage of LNR purification was using methanol, toluene and oven at a temperature of 70ºC. The LNR products obtained are liquid and semi-gel. The formed LNR has functional groups and structures that conform to the LNR formation specifications. While the Mn LNR molecular weight value with a variation of ,reaction time, did not experience a significant difference for each additional reaction time. Keywords : liquid natural rubber, gel permeation chromatography, cobalt dichlorite, depolymerization and dried rubber crumb.

Abstract

This Community Service (PkM) activity aimed to enhance the knowledge of 10th-grade students at SMAN 1 Kuok, Kampar Regency, regarding the sustainable palm oil industry, palm oil processing, and the health benefits of its derivative products, especially red palm oil. The background of the activity was the students' lack of knowledge about palm oil and its derivatives, despite living in a palm oil plantation hub. The implementation methods included a location survey and needs analysis, knowledge and technology transfer, active partner participation, interactive counseling, and evaluation through pre-test and post-test. The results showed high enthusiasm from the participants. Questionnaire-based evaluation revealed that the activity was considered highly beneficial and successfully improved students' understanding of palm oil, its derivative products, and their health benefits. It was concluded that this PkM activity was effective in increasing students' knowledge and is expected to encourage their role as agents of change in supporting the sustainable palm oil industry in their region.

Abstract

The Community-Based Drinking Water and Sanitation Program (PAMSIMAS) is one of the government's efforts to improve community access to safe drinking water, especially in rural areas. This study aims to evaluate the adequacy of the PAMSIMAS water supply managed by the Tambiliok Jaya Community Group (Pokmas) in Muara Jalai Village and assess the accuracy of its distribution to the surrounding community. Initial conditions before the program was implemented indicated that some residents only received low-quality water, namely cloudy, brownish-yellow, and oily. The PAMSIMAS program has been operating since 2022, so an evaluation of its performance is necessary after more than two years of implementation. The research method used a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection through field observations and interviews with beneficiaries. The analysis results indicate that the current PAMSIMAS water supply has met the community's daily needs and is considered sufficient and stable over time. Furthermore, service distribution is considered well-targeted because the main beneficiaries are residents who previously experienced water quality problems. These results indicate that the existence of the Tambiliok Jaya Community Group (Pokmas) PAMSIMAS has had a positive impact on better access to safe drinking water for the Muara Jalai Village communit.
