Abstract

Pendidikan anak usia dini (PAUD) adalah jenjang pendidikan sebelum jenjang pendidikan dasar yang merupakan suatu upaya pembinaan yang ditujukan bagi anak sejak lahir sampai dengan usia enam tahun agar anak memiliki kesiapan dalam memasuki pendidikan lebih lanjut. Kelurahan Tandang, Semarang memiliki 14 kelompok PAUD yang masing-masing memiliki mayoritas tutor ibu rumah tangga yang kurang memiliki bekal pengetahuan dalam pengelolaan PAUD. Dilihat dari sisi lain, anak-anak usia dini pada era sekarang sedikit banyak telah mengenal berbagai teknologi modern yang mendukung mereka untuk mengenal dunia di sekitarnya termasuk  penggunaan fitur emoticon yang terdapat dalam teknologi modern seperti handphone. Oleh karena itu, untuk mengimbangi  perkembangan  pengetahuan  siswanya,  para  tutor  PAUD  Anak  Bangsa  VI  di Kelurahan Tandang, Semarang perlu dibekali teknik-teknik pengajaran PAUD secara khusus dalam hal  teknik  pengajaran  kosakata  bahasa  kepada  siswa  melalui  media  emoticon  sehingga  bisa menarik minat siswa untuk memperluas kosakata bahasa mereka. Berkenaan dengan hal ini, tim pelaksana  memberikan  pelatihan  berupa  pembekalan  yang  berisi  tentang  teori  dan  teknik pengajaran kosakata bahasa dengan menggunakan media emoticon. Dalam pembekalan tersebut, tim juga menyediakan fasilitas mengajar berupa media gambar emoticon dengan tampilan yang menarik.   Setelah   dilakukan   pelatihan   tersebut,   selanjutnya   peserta   mulai   diajak   untuk mempraktekan teknik mengajar tersebut kepada siswa PAUD yang dibimbingnya. Luaran yang telah dicapai dalam program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah produk pengabdian berupa emoticon card,   para tutor PAUD dapat memahami teori mengenai teknik pengajaran kosakata bahasa kepada siswa PAUD, para tutor PAUD dapat langsung menerapkan teknik pengajaran kosakata bahasa dengan menggunakan media emoticon kepada siswa didiknya, sehingga para siswa PAUD memiliki semangat untuk mengikuti kegiatan dalam PAUD karena penggunaan media yang menarik tersebut. Selain itu, dengan penggunaan media tersebut dapat mempermudah anak untuk menangkap informasi dan memperluas pengetahuan mengenai kosakata bahasa. Kata kunci: emoticon, paud, kosakata, bahasa

Abstract

Abstract Many people do not understand the importance of public speaking technique. The most frequent phenomenon of public speaking is in PKK (Family Welfare Guidance) as one of the organization within our closest community. Therefore, there should be a training of public speaking skills for PKK cadres of RW VI, Tandang Village, Tembalang Subdistrict, Semarang. It is expected to explore the potency of PKK cadres to improve their confidence and bravery to speak up in public. After training, it is also expected that the PKK cadres can continuously implement all of the training materials. Thus, these cadres can sharpen their ability to do public speaking in front of?é?á forum which can produce other achievements that can improve the quality of PKK cadres. It can result on the increasing of their role and involvement in every governmental or non governmental activity or program. Abstract

Writing used to express and to communicate some ideas. The score of students’ narrative writing skill of eighth graders of one state junior high school in Semarang is under of minimum criteria. The English standard minimum score is 75. Objectives of this research are to know how great Dot Voting technique can improve students’ eighth graders learning motivation in class and to know how high Dot Voting technique increasement of students’ narrative writing skill at the eighth graders of one state junior high school in Semarang. Classroom action research is the research type. The research was conducted in class VIII D of one state junior high school in Semarang. This research used non-test and test instruments to collect the data. The non-test instruments are observation sheet and documentation. The writer used quantitative data in analyzing the data. In first cycle and second cycle, the students have better enthusiasm and participation to follow the activities. At pre-cycle test, their writing average score reached 65.74. In first cycle test when the writer applied the action the students’ writing average score is 74.87 or improves 9.13. In second cycle test, their writing average score reaches 82.09. It means that it improves 7.22 from the first cycle. In second cycle indicates that the teaching process is successful. Based on the result, firstly, to English teachers to use interesting teaching technique in teaching especially in writing skill is Dot Voting technique. Secondly, to students to enrich their narrative text writing skill by using Dot Voting.

Abstract

The objectives of this study are to identify the types of teachers’ questioning strategies, to explain the types of questioning strategies that are mostly used, and to describe teachers' reasons for using questioning strategies based on Wajnryb's theory. The subjects of this study were two English teachers SMP N 1 Juwana who taught eighth-grade students. This research used a descriptive qualitative method and the data were collected and obtained from classroom observation, recording, and interview. Research findings show that both teachers used yes/no, short-answer, display, referential, and open-ended questions during the lesson, while imaginative questions never appeared during learning. Short-answer questions and display questions are types of questions that are mostly used by teachers. Research findings show the reason teachers use questioning strategies to provoke student responses and create a pleasant classroom atmosphere so that goals can be achieved. It was proven from classroom observations that students became more active when teachers used questioning strategies during teaching and learning activities.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of using the "Finding Nemo" movie to improve the vocabulary skills of seventh-grade students of SMPN 17 Semarang. Using a quantitative and pre-experimental method, the study aims to evaluate vocabulary improvement before and after using the movie and determine any significant differences between the two. The sample consists of 30 students. Results show that the average pre-test score was 62.00, while the post-test score was 78.00. At a 0.05% significance level, the t-score was less than the t-table, leading to the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis and the rejection of the null hypothesis. In conclusion, there is a significant difference in students' vocabulary skills after using the "Finding Nemo” movie."
