Abstract

ABSTRACT This paper attempts to analyze the test items in the English National Final Examination (UAN) for Junior High School Students in the academic year 2009/2010. This study aims at analyzing the compatibility of the test items of package A in reading and writing section of English National Final Examination for Junior High School Students with the standard of graduate competence and the cognitive domains used in the test. The data were collected by using documentary method, while in analyzing the data the writers focused on matching the compatibility of the test items with the Standard of Graduate Competence and identifying the cognitive domain used. From the analysis, it was found that the test items of package A in reading and writing section of English National Final Examination 2009/2010 were in line with the Standard of Graduate Competence (SKL) arranged by the government. The cognitive domains in reading section mostly used level of comprehension. The cognitive domains in writing section used the application and the synthesis level.   Key words: analysis, test items, national final examination

Abstract

Abstract

The research aims at describing the implementation of participation rights in early childhood education through educative game tools (Alat Permainan Edukatif: APE) and finding out the problems encountered by the teachers in implementing participation rights through APE. The research type is qualitative research. The subjects of the research were four teachers of early childhood education in Semarang Municipality including play group and kindergarten school which were selected by using purposive sampling. The data were collected by field observation and depth-interview and analyzed in the form of a descriptive qualitative analysis. The results show that some APEs implemented in early childhood education were potentially able to enhance participation rights, but the teachers were not aware on this aspect. They tended to focus on the academic outputs and on fulfilling joyful learning. The main factor was the teachers’ knowledge on the importance of APE for comprehending the participation rights of the child in learning process, including the limited number of APEs created and the flexibility of the APEs available. As participation rights are essential in learner-centered approach, APE as an educational game tool should be created and manipulated to accommodate the rights, including protection and provision rights.

Abstract

This study is focused on the illocutionary acts found on Arthur Fleck’s dialogues in Joker (2019) movie. The objectives of this study are (1) to find out the types of illocutionary acts used by the character Arthur in Joker movie and (2) to find out the dominant types of illocutionary acts used by the character Arthur in Joker movie and what that means. To reach those objectives of study, the writers use Searle (2002) theory to conduct the study. There are five types of illocutionary acts according to Searle (2002). They are assertive, directive, commisive, expressive, and declarative. This study used qualitative design because it is framed in terms of using words instead of numbers. The result of data finding shows that there were 52 utterances done by Arthur Fleck indicates as illocutionary acts. The illocutionary types found are assertive, directive, commissive, expressive, and declarative. There are 8 utterances categorized as assertives type, 27 utterances categorized as directives type, 4 utterances categorized as commissive type, 9 utterances categorized as expressives type, and 4 utterances categorized as declaratives type. Directive type is the dominant type found in Arthur’s utterances. Keywords: Pragmatic, Illocutionary Acts, Joker (2019) Movie.

Abstract

The study aims at describing the students’ response to the application of Group Correction of Students’ Written Assignment technique assisted with Peer-Editing Worksheet in cause-effect essay teaching. The type of the study is descriptive qualitative research. The respondents of the study are the fourth semester students of the English Education Department of Universitas PGRI Semarang. The techniques used to collect the data are questionnaire and interview. The data are analyzed qualitatively The result of the study shows that through Group Correction of Students’ Written Assignment technique assisted with Peer-Editing Worksheet, the students can take some advantages. For example, the students can review other group’ works easily; they can also learn from other work errors to avoid making the same errors in their own writing, and add more ideas on their own writing by reading others’ works, etc. In conclusion, Group Correction of Students’ Written Assignment technique assisted with Peer-Editing Worksheet is useful learning technique for both the writer of the essay and the students who provide feedback.

Abstract

The aims of the study are 1) to describe how dangling modifiers are used by the students in writing Research Findings and Discussion and 2) to give a solusion of the dangling modifiers produced by them. ?é?áThis study is descriptive qualitative research. The object of the study is the Final Projects, especially Research Findings and Discussion Chapter written by the English Education Department Students of University of PGRI Semarang in the academic year 2013/2014. The total number of the sample is 30 Final Projects, and purposive sampling is used in getting the sample. In collecting the data, the writers used non interactive method that is in the form of documentation. There are three components used in analyzing the data?óÔé¼ÔÇØreducing the data, presenting the data, and drawing conclusion. The result of this study shows that the writers found 39 sentences of the 22 Research Findings and Discussion indicated dangling modifier. There was no dangling modifier in 8 Research Findings and Discussion. The sentences indicated dangling modifier started with present participle, past participle, to infinitive, dan prepositional phrase. The dangling modifiers are because the inroductory phrases of the sentences did not refer to the subjects of the main clauses. In other words, the subjects of the main clauses did not match with the introductory phrases of the sentences or the parts ofmain clausewere in the form of expletive construction orpassive construction; as a result, thesubjects were not clear. In solving the problems of the dangling modifiers, the writers changed the subjects of the main clauses, so these matched with both the introductory phrases (modifiers) and the main clauses or added subordinating conjunctions and subjects (doer of action) on the introductory phrases, so these phrases became complete introductory clauses(adverbial clause). Then it is suggested for the advisors to improve the quality in guiding the students to write Research Findings and Discussion both in techniques to write them and/or the structures of the sentences, so the students can minimize the errors in writing sentences, especially dangling modifier. ?é?á Keywords: analysis,dangling modifier, Reserach Findings and Discussion

Abstract

The morfosyntactical errors in students?óÔé¼Ôäó writing composition have been a phenomenon that both writing teachers and other faculty members have complained about. Those errors are not only made by junior students, but also made by senoir students at the university level. One of the reasons of making those morfosyntactical errors is that our students still use their background knowledge of Indonesian sentences?óÔé¼Ôäó structure in their English writing.?é?á?é?á The main objective of this research is to investigate the influence of schemata of Indonesian language structure toward the ill-formedness of English sentences. In brief, this research studies the morfosyntax elements that can cause the formation of ill-formed sentences, the types of ill-formed sentences made by Indonesian students in writing English composition, and also to investigate the students?óÔé¼Ôäó difficuties in writing English. The data of this research was taken from the 3rd semester students of the English Education Department of IKIP PGRI Semarang. The researchers collected the data by (1) Observation and mid semester test result to choose the students. Those who got the score 75 or upper were choosen as the repondents. (2) Questionnaire, and (3) The writing test. From the findings, it was found that the schemata of Indonesian language structure give a significant influence toward the ill-formedness of students?óÔé¼Ôäó English sentences. The most frequent types of ill-formedness are from: noun form and tenses. This fact indicates that our students have difficulty mostly in those two types of topic. Abstract

Tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah melacak sebaran kerja, masa tunggu lulusan dalam mendapatkan pekerjaan, dan besaran pendapatan atau gaji yang diperoleh oleh lulusan selama sebulan. Data dari penelitian ini diambil melalui kuesioner online yang disebarkan ke lulusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris UPGRIS tahun 2018-2020 melalui whatsapp grup dan menggunakan reminder berupa telepon secara personal untuk pengisian kuesioner. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 51% lulusan terserap kedalam dunia kerja dan bekerja sebagai guru bahasa Inggris baik disekolah negeri, swasta, madrasah maupun di pondok pesantren. Sedangkan 41% lulusan bekerja pada sektor swasta, pada perusahaan jasa dan manufaktur, dan menjadi wiraswasta mandiri yang berkecimpung pada penjualan dan start up online. Untuk mendapatkan pekerjaan, 60 % lulusan memerlukan kisaran waktu sebanyak 1-3 bulan, 25 % lulusan menunggu selama 3-6 bulan, 10% lulusan menunggu selama 6-12 bulan dan hanya 5 % lulusan yang mendapatkan pekerjaan setelah lebih dari setahun lulus.  Sayangnya, para lulusan tersebut masih menerima gaji atau mendapatkan penghasilan sebanyak 1-3 juta saja per bulan (46%), 3-5 juta perbulan sebanyak 39%, 5-7.5 juta sebanyak 4%, dan hanya 11% yang mendapatkan gaji 7.5 -10 juta per bulan. Meskipun demikian, dengan melihat sebaran jenis pekerjaan yang digeluti oleh lulusan, maka dapat dikatakan bahwa profil prodi untuk menghasilkan guru bahasa Inggris yang cakap dan entrepreneur sudah tercapai melalui lulusan, dan kurikulum yang terapkan prodi dalam proses pengajaran sudah relevan dengan tuntutan dunia kerja.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk 1) mengetahui jenis game yang diterapkan guru Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) dalam proses pembelajaran, 2) mendeskripsikan penerapan provisi, proteksi, dan partisipasi (3P) dalam pembelajaran menggukan game di MI, dan 3) untuk mendeskripsikan tantangan yang dihadapi guru dalam menerapkan 3P dalam pembelajaran menggunakan game. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Populasi penelitian ini adalah guru MI Husnul Khatimah Kecamatan Tembalang, Kota Semarang. Sample penelitian ini berjumlah 10 guru dan ditentukan dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Questioner dan wawancara digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data, dan kemudian data dianalisis dengan langkah reduksi data, data display, dan kesimpulan/verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) jenis game yang terapkan oleh guru dalam proses pembelajaran masih sangat terbatas, yaitu Teka Teki Silang, Kartu Pintar, Tebak Nyanyi, Tebak Kata, Kartu Bergambar, Angka Bom Bilangan Loncat, dan Kuis Game; 2) 3P (Provisi, Proteksi, dan Partisipasi) sudah diterapkan dalam proses pembelajaran dengan sangat baik oleh sebagian besar guru, namun beberapa guru belum sepenuhnya menerapkannya; dan 3) dalam pembelajaran menggunakan game, guru mengalami banyak tantangan atau kendala, diantaranya adalah media bantunya terbatas, partisipasi anak masih terbatas, memerlukan tenaga dan waktu ekstra dalam menerapkannya, antar kelompok saling mengganggu, dan lain sebagainya. 3P (Provisi, Proteksi, dan Partispasi) juga menjadi kendala tersendiri bagi guru karena pemahaman mereka akan tiga prinsip dasar dalam pendidikan ramah anak ini masih terbatas. Kata Kunci: 3P (Provisi, Proteksi, dan Partisipasi), game, penerapan, tantangan

Abstract

AbstractAdolescence is a period of transition from child to adult. In this transition period, teenagers tend to seek a new identity that is different from their previous identity. The process of search of the new identity makes the teens as a side that are vulnerable to crimes. One of them is human trafficking. Therefore, to anticipate the occurrence of human trafficking crime, Team of IKIP PGRI Semarang held counseling about human trafficking for Local Youth Association of Sambiroto Village, Tembalang, Semarang with the main goal is to make teenagers aware of the dangers of human trafficking and how to prevent this crime. The counseling was held on Saturday March 10, 2012 located at RW 1 Sambiroto Village, Tembalang, Semarang. This event was attended by 48 participants. The materials presented in this activity are the Youth and their problem, Human Trafficking (modus operandi and its main victims), and government efforts and how to prevent human trafficking crime. The methods used in this training include lectures, question and answer, and discussion. The resulting outputs are teenagers of Youth of Sambiroto Village are able to be aware of the dangers of human trafficking crime and know the ways to prevent this crime.Key Words: Counseling, Human Trafficking, Local Youth AssociationAbstrakMasa remaja adalah masa transisi dari anak ke dewasa. Dalam masa transisi, remaja cenderung untuk mencari identitas baru yang berbeda dari identitas mereka sebelumnya. Proses pencarian identitas baru membuat para remaja sebagai sisi yang rentan terhadap kejahatan. Salah satunya adalah perdagangan manusia. Karena itu, untuk mengantisipasi terjadinya kejahatan perdagangan manusia, Tim IKIP PGRI Semarang mengadakan konseling tentang perdagangan manusia untuk Asosiasi Pemuda Sambiroto Tembalang, Semarang dengan tujuan utama adalah untuk membuat remaja waspada bahaya perdagangan manusia dan bahgaimana mencegah tindak kejahatan. Konseling diselenggarakan pada Sabtu 10 Maret 2012 berlokasi di RW 1 Sambiroto, Tembalang, Semarang. Acara ini dihadiri oleh 48 peserta. Materi yang disajikan dalam kegiatan ini adalah mengenai remaja dan masalah mereka. Perdagangan manusia (modus operandi dan korban utamanya), upaya pemerintah dan bagaimana mencegah hal ini. Metode yang digunakan dalam pelatihan ini meliputi ceramah, tanya jawab, dan diskusi. Hasilnya, remaja desa Sambiroto menyadari dan mewaspadi bahaya kejahatan perdagangan manusia dan mengetahui cara untuk mencegah kejahatan ini.Kata Kunci: Konseling, Perdagangan Manusia, Asosiasi Pemuda Lokal
