Abstract

This study aims to describe the form of  sentence errors based on the verb valency in the student's essay in the Aufsatz II course and identify the factors that influence the students to make these kind of mistakes. This research used qualitative descriptive method. The data source of this research were the students of the German Literature Department, Universitas Negeri Malang class of 2017 Offering C. The data used in this research are sentence errors based on the verb valency found on the student’s essays and interview results. The results of this research indicate that: (1) Students made mistakes in writing sentences based on the verb valency, with the form of complements errors, such as of Nominativergänzung, Akkusativergänzung, Dativergänzung, Präpositivergänzung, Situativergänzung, Direktivergänzung, sentence errors with reflexive Verben, errors in adding sentence constituents, verb selection errors, and sentence without verb errors, (2) factors that cause those errors were difficulty in learning the German grammar, difficulty in determining the complements required by the verb, Indonesian interference, and rarely practice writing in German.

Abstract

Abstract: In the process of learning to write Chinese descriptive text, students are required to be able to write essays using 汉字 [hànzì] 'Han Character that is appropriate and can be understood by the reader. The use of the chain writing method in learning focuses on writing activities actively and in groups. This study aims to determine the initial ability to write descriptive text in Chinese Language Education students, class 2018 Universitas Negeri Malang and the effectiveness of the chain writing method on the ability to write descriptive text in Chinese. The research method used is quantitative research with comparative non-parametric analysis. The data obtained in the form of pretest and posttest scores were analyzed using a Likert scale. Instrument testing is carried out using construct validity to material expert lecturers. From the results of the posttest for both classes, a U-test was conducted to see the difference in average scores, as well as an N-gain score test to see the level of effectiveness of using the chain writing method. The results showed that the chain writing method was effectively applied to the ability to write descriptive Chinese text for the 2018 Chinese Language Education students, Universitas Negeri Malang. Keywords: chain writing method, writing skill, descriptive text Abstrak: Dalam proses pembelajaran menulis teks deskriptif bahasa Mandarin, mahasiswa dituntut untuk mampu menuliskan karangan menggunakan汉字 [hànzì] ‘aksara Han’ yang tepat dan dapat dipahami oleh pembaca. Penggunaan metode chain writing dalam pembelajaran berfokus pada kegiatan menulis secara aktif dan berkelompok. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan awal menulis teks deskriptif bahasa Mandarin mahasiswa Pendidikan Bahasa Mandarin angkatan 2018 Universitas Negeri Malang dan efektivitas metode chain writing terhadap kemampuan menulis teks deskriptif bahasa Mandarin. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan analisis non parametrik komparatif. Perolehan data berupa skor pretest dan posttest yang dianalisis menggunakan skala Likert. Pengujian instrumen dilakukan menggunakan validitas konstruk kepada dosen ahli materi. Dari hasil posttest kedua kelas dilakukan uji-U untuk melihat perbedaan nilai rata-rata, serta uji N-gain score untuk melihat tingkat efektivitas penggunaan metode chain writing. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode chain writing efektif diterapkan pada kemampuan menulis teks deskriptif bahasa Mandarin mahasiswa Pendidikan Bahasa Mandarin angkatan 2018 Universitas Negeri Malang. Abstract

Abstract: Reading ability is one of the essential language skills to learn. The rationale for developing reading ability is because reading constitutes the first step to understanding a lesson. One of the ways to improve reading skills is the drill method. Through the drill method, teachers can instil regular and disciplined students study habits. Applying the drill method in the learning process needs discipline, and teachers play an essential role in its implementation. In other words, the drilling method will not run successfully without teachers' roles. This research aims to describe the impact of the drill approach on students' reading abilities. The research respondents were 38 students of the 2018 Mandarin Language Education Study Program batch, Universitas Negeri Malang. The data is obtained from the pretest-post-test result. Hypothesis testing in this study used an independent sample test. The criteria for testing the hypothesis of the two tests are t-statistic > t-table or if the Sig. (2-tailed) value is less than 0.05; then, there is a significant difference. Or an alternative hypothesis Ha is accepted. The paired samples t-test show that the post-test variance's significance value was 0.18 greater than the pre-test variance value. The significant value of the post-test variance was 0.18 larger than the pre-test variance value, according to the paired samples t-test. According to the data, the possibility of the drill method influencing the pre-test and post-test results is less than 5%. The findings concluded that the drill method might increase students' reading skills. Keywords: drill method, reading ability, Mandarin language. Abstrak: Keterampilan membaca memegang peranan yang penting dalam peningkatan keterampilan kebahasaan. Alasan mengapa pendidik dirasa perlu untuk mengembangkan kemampuan membaca karena membaca merupakan langkah awal untuk memahami suatu pelajaran. Teknik metode drill menjadi bentuk upaya kecil dalam perkembangan kemampuan membaca peserta didik. Metode ini dapat melatih ketangkasan peserta didik untuk menghubungkan sebab-akibat karena aktivitas metode ini yang selalu diulang hingga menyebabkan kemampuan peserta didik semakin meningkat. Keberhasilan penerapan metode drill juga menuntut peran pendidik dalam mendisiplinkan peserta didik karena metode drill tidak akan berjalan sukses tanpa peran pendidik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh penerapan metode drill terhadap kemampuan membaca mahasiswa. 38 mahasiswa pada program pendidikan Bahasa Mandarin angkatan 2018 Universitas Negeri Malang menjadi responden dalam penelitian ini. Data didapatkan dari hasil pre-test post-test. Pengujian hipotesis dalam penelitian ini menggunakan independent sample test. Kriteria pengujian hipotesis dari kedua pengujian adalah t-statistik > t-tabel atau jika nilai Sig. (2-tailed) kurang dari 0,05, maka terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan atau hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima. Uji-t sampel berpasangan menunjukkan bahwa nilai signifikansi varians post-test memiliki nilai 0,18 lebih besar dari nilai varians pre-test. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan bahwa probabilitas kurang dari 5%, yang berarti bahwa metode drill mempengaruhi hasil pre-test dan post-test. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa metode drill dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca siswa pada tingkat studi Pendidikan Bahasa Mandarin 2018. Abstract

This study aims to describe the problems faced by students in learning to speak German and various German speaking teaching techniques that are carried out by German teachers at this time and during distance learning during the pandemic. This research is a type of descriptive qualitative research. The source of the data in this study was a German language teacher in class Xl of SMA Negeri 7 Malang. The data in the study were obtained from the observations of two colleagues and also interviews with the German class Xl language teacher at SMA Negeri 7 Malang. The results of the observations show that the students of class XI Language are more enthusiastic about teaching speaking German in the Face-to-face Learning system. The techniques used by the teacher in the Face-to-Face Learning system are singing techniques, techniques for explaining material on the LCD, and playing techniques. However, in the Distance Learning system, the only technique used by the teacher is to display the material on Zoom or Google Meet.
