Abstract

Akhir-akhir ini, banyak mahasiswa jurusan Satra Inggris, Fakultas Sastra, Universitas Jember yang enggan untuk berbicara menggunakan bahasa Inggris baik di dalam maupun di luar kelas. Hal ini disebabkan karena mereka merasa bahwa kemampuan bahasa Inggris mereka kurang. Peneitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki bagaimana keyakinan mahasiswa terhadap kemampuan berbahasa Inggris, mengetahui apakah ada hubungan antara efikasi mahasiswa dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris dengan prestasi mereka dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris dan untuk mengeksplorasi sumber- sumber yang mempengaruhi efikasi mahasiswa terhadap kemampuan berbicara dalam bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini melibatkan 92 mahasiswa Sastra Inggris Fakultas Sastra, Universitas Jember, tahun ajaran 2012/2013 dan menggunakan dua jenis kuesioner untuk mengumpulkan data. Kuesioner pertama digunakan untuk mencari nilai efikasi mahasiswa dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris yang meliputi kemampuan fonologis, kosa kata dan grammar, sementara kuesioner kedua digunakan untuk menjaring jawaban per-individu mengenai sumber-sumber efikasi tersebut. Penelitian ini juga menggunakan nilai kemampuan berbahasa Inggris untuk mencari korelasi antara keyakinan efikasi mahasiswa dan prestasi mereka dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris menggunakan penghitungan Korelasi Koefisien Pearson. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada 11 siswa yang memiliki efikasi diri yang tinggi terhadap kemampuan berbicara bahasa Inggris, 65 siswa dengan efikasi sedang dan 16 siswa dengan efikasi rendah. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, efikasi terhadap kosa kata dan tata bahasalah yang berpengaruh dalam pembentukan efikasi diri yang rendah. Hal ini disebabkan oleh kurangnya akses dan latihan yang dijalani mahasiswa mengingat mereka belajar bahasa Inggris di lingkungan bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing. Penelitian ini juga menemukan korelasi positif lemah (r = 0.437) antara efikasi mahasiswa terhadap kemampuan berbicara dalam bahasa inggris dan prestasi berbicara bahasa Inggris mereka. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan yang kurang konsisten antara dua variabel tersebut. Dan yang terakhir, ada empat sumber utama efikasi diri yaitu prestasi masa lampau, prestasi semu, dorongan sosial dan keadaan emosi yang bervariasi berdasarkan perbedaan individu masing-masing mahasiswa. Kata Kunci: Efiksasi, kemampuan berbicara, korelasi koefisien pearson ABSTRACT In recent years, many students of English Department, Faculty of Letters, Jember University are reluctant to speak English. They do not want to speak English because they feel that their English is not very good. This paper aims to investigate what is students’ self-efficacy belief of speaking like, to examine whether there is a relationship between self-efficacy beliefs of speaking and speaking performance and to explore what factors are influencing their self-efficacy of speaking. This research involves 92 English Department students of 2012/2013 academic year and uses two kinds of questionnaire to gather the data. Self-efficacy questionnaire is used to seek students’ self-efficacy score of speaking based on phonology, vocabulary and grammar, while source of efficacy questionnaire is used to gather individual answer of source of efficacy. It also uses speaking performance score to find the correlation between self-efficacy beliefs of speaking and speaking performance by recapitulating those variables using Pearson Correlation Coefficient calculator.The results of this study show that there are 11 highly self-efficacious students, 65 medium self-efficacious students and 16 lowly self-efficacious students that are mostly influenced by grammatical and vocabulary efficiencies. Second, there is a weak positive correlation (r=0,437) between English speaking self-efficacy beliefs and English speaking performance indicating inconsistent correlation between the two variables. And the last, There are four main sources of self-efficacy namely performance accomplishment, vicarious experience, social persuasion and emotional state that are varied based on participants individual differences. Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi komunikasi juga menimbulkan dampak negatif. Salah satu yang dirasakan masyarakat Minang adalah menjamurnya perilaku menyimpang gay. Mereka membentuk perkumpulan kelompok sosial kecil, dimana mereka bergaul dan mendapatkan apa yang diinginkan, tanpa melihat sikap antipati dari masyarakat karena memanfaatkan new media untuk berkomunikasi dan bertransaksi dalam kegiatan prostitusi. Penelitian ini dianalisis dengan menggunakan teori CMC (computer mediated communications) dimana kegiatan komunikasi antara pelacur gay dengan calon pelanggan dan pelanggan intens di sosial media melalui smartphone. Kegiatan komunikasi dan transaksi diselesaikan di media. Dengan metode kualitatif, maka kegiatan prostitusi online oleh gay di Padang dapat diekplor dan dideskripsikan secara mendalam. Hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa pada tahap menemukan pelanggan ada dua cara; langsung melalui komunikasi non verbal, terdapat kecocokan dilanjutkan bertukar pin BB atau Facebook,dan melalui perantara orang ke tiga, yaitu mucikari/ rekan sesama pelacur gay, dari dua tahap mengenali calon pelanggan kemudian komunikasi dan transaksi dilanjutkan melalui new media. Penjajakan dengan calon pelanggan dilakukan dengan komunikasi intensif melalui new media. Setelah dirasa cocok baru tawar menawar harga dilakukan. Jika dalam proses negosiasi ternyata tidak ditemukan kesepakan maka transaksi dibatalkan. Lalu proses komunikasi dengan pelanggan akan terputus, dan jika dibutuhkan maka komunikasi kembali terjalin.

Abstract

West Sumatra is a province where the average population works as a farmer. Rice production in West Sumatra is quite high, reaching 55,532 tons per year. However, farmers experience difficulties in dealing with pest attacks, one of which is bird pest. Bird pest causes a loss of yield of 30% and even 100% at severe levels of attack, and in other cerelia plants capable of causing yield loss to reach 67%. As a result of high yield loss, it is necessary to control bird pests. However, control of bird pests is not the same as other pests that can be controlled practically using pesticides due to mobile pests that are mobile or active. t present farmers still use mechanical control in Sumatra called 'Manggaro'. Where farmers wait for their fields and fields during the filling phase until harvest. This mechanical control takes the time of the farmer to drive the arrival of bird pests. Based on these problems, it takes a business and technology that can be used to drive birds without the need to be monitored by farmers, save time and be more efficient in controlling and can be used in the long run. The proposed research activities included the installation of automatic bird removal equipment with a body heat detection system and sound source swinging motor in the paddy fields located at the Unand Limau Manis campus. Abstract

The 2019 election that was just passed was thick with the aroma of identity politics. The issues raised are mostly related to certain groups, religions, races and ethnicities. We rarely hear issues that develop in the community about discourse on vision / mission, programs offered, and so forth. The discourse that is built around the election, both ahead of the election or until now is very dominated by the discourse on identity politics. If we listen to the conversation on social media, food stalls, associations and organizations in West Sumatra is to choose based on religion, ethnicity, groups, and others. This means that identity politics is very strongly felt in this 2019 election. A person's political choices are not based on track records, work programs, or campaign promises offered. However, the choice is based on the identity carried by the individual who is a candidate. This research was conducted qualitatively with an explanatory approach. The research aims to describe the political discourse on identity among the Sharia Pilgrims in the 2019 elections. This study also looked at the political decision of the Sharia Jamaah based on the political discourse on identity that they got. The results showed that there were three sources of identity politics discourse, namely Tuanku, the media, and relatives. Syariah.

Abstract

The Nagari Tageh concept, originally initiated earlier, has evolved into a broader scope, extending beyond the confines of the Covid-19 pandemic, with the overarching goal of accelerating the realization of Nagari Mandiri. The Tanjung Raya community's economic hardships, notably the Fish Farmers of Lake Maninjau, prompted our community engagement team to fortify the ‘New Nagari Tageh’ concept. The activity commenced with developing customized posters catering to the community's specific needs, encompassing imagery, color schemes, and language. Those posters served as a medium for publicizing the Nagari Tageh program in the Agam Regency. Furthermore, our community engagement team engaged in intensive discussions with the Agam Regency government, involving the Regional Development and Planning Agency (DPMD), to gain a better understanding of the on-ground situations and conditions faced by fish cage farmers in the Tanjung Raya subdistrict. Subsequently, our team provided counseling and further guidance to the fish cage farmers, ensuring the successful implementation of the ‘New Nagari Tageh’ concept. This holistic approach aimed to equip the community with the necessary knowledge and education to mitigate the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic across various aspects of community life. Furthermore, it sought to rejuvenate the economic prospects of the fish cage farmers in the Tanjung Raya subdistrict, embodying the essence of the ‘New Nagari Tageh’ concept.

Abstract

Universitas Andalas (Unand) as one of the oldest universities in Indonesia has a long history in shaping institutional identity rooted in local values and national spirit. In the context of the changing landscape of higher education that is increasingly competitive and innovation oriented, Unand has renewed its identity as a form of adjustment to the demands of the times. This research aims to examine the dynamics of Unand's institutional identity renewal by tracing its relationship to institutional history, managerial strategies, and the entrepreneurial spirit carried in its new narrative. A descriptive qualitative approach was used to identity of Andalas University from the history and local wisdom of Minangkabau so as to obtain strong branding. The results of the study show that this process not only reflects efforts to strengthen institutional branding, but also becomes part of strategic management in building a responsive, innovative, and globally competitive university. This image refresh underlines Unand's new orientation that is not separated from its history, but based on the entrepreneurial spirit as the foundation of future institutional development
