Abstract

Background: Seed extract of Swietenia mahagoni (L.) Jacq. contains saponins, flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenoids, steroids, and tannins that may exhibit significant protection of kidney cells from free radicals. In present study, Swietenia mahagoni was evaluated for its nephroprotector effect on paracetamol-induced kidney cells histological damage in mice (Mus musculus).   Methods: This research used experimental laboratory studies with post test only controlled group design. Samples were 28 male Swiss webster mice (2-3 months old) weighing + 20 g and divided into 4 groups, 7 mice each group. Sampling technique in this research was incidental sampling. The negative control group (KK (-)) and the positive control group (KK (+)) of mice were administered aquadest for 14 days. The first treatment group (KP1) and the second group treatment (KP2) of mice were administered mahagony seed extract with the dose of 11,2 mg/20 g and 22,4 mg/20 g body weight of mice for 14 days, respectively. Paracetamol was administered to groups of KK (+), KP1, dan KP2 on the 12th, 13th, and 14th day. On day-15th, mice were sacrificed and their kidneys were taken and stained with hematoxilin eosin (HE) for histological study. The kidney cells histological features were assessed based on quantifying of pyknosis, karyorrhexis, and karyolysis. Data were analyzed with the One-Way ANOVA test (α = 0.05) and Post Hoc Multiple Comparisons LSD test (α = 0.05). Results: The mean of kidney cells histological damage in mice for KK (-), KK (+), KP1 and KP2 were 9.57 + 0.701; 28.93 + 1.698; 9.28 + 0.873 and 27.79 + 1.651, respectively. Result of statistic analysis showed that there were significant differences of kidney cells damage score between KK (-) – KK (+), KK (-) – KP2, KK (+) – KP1, KP1 – KP2, and non significant differences between KK (-) – KP1 and KK (+) – KP2. Conclusions: Swietenia mahagoni (L.) Jacq. seed extract showed nephroprotector effect against paracetamol-induced kidney cells histological damage in mice. Abstract

Background: Community Health Centers played an important role in tuberculosis control. However, Community Health Centers’ contextual effect toward tuberculosis recurrence has not yet been discovered. The study aims to analyze socio-demography and clinical factors of first tuberculosis episode and Community Health Centers’ contextual effect toward tuberculosis recurrence.Subjects and Method: It was analytic observational study with case control approach. The study was conducted in the city of Surakarta, Central Java, from December 2019 up to January 2020. Sample collection toward 204 tuberculosis patients who had completed their treatment or were confirmed cured, were conducted by using simple random sampling at individual level and stratified random sampling at community health centers level. The dependent variable was tuberculosis recurrence. The independent variables were family income, level of education, BCG vaccination status, smoking history, initial bacteriological test, weight gain, DM, and COPD. The data were collected through medical record and interview. The data were analyzed by using multilevel multiple logistic regression with Stata 13.Results: In individual level, the preventive factor toward tuberculosis recurrence among other were high income (OR= 0.24; 95% CI= 0.06 up to 0.92; p= 0.037), high level of education (OR= 0.18; 95% CI= 0.04 up to 0.84; p= 0.029), BCG vaccination status (OR= 0.11; 95% CI= 0.02 up to 0.67; p= 0.017), and high weight gain (OR= 0.06; 95% CI= 0.01 up to 0.28; p< 0.001). Meanwhile, the independent predictors toward tuberculosis recurrence (OR= 7.11; 95% CI= 1.65 up to 30.64; p= 0.009) and diabetes mellitus (OR= 10.85; 95% CI= 2.13 up to 55.29; p= 0.004). In the level of Community Health Centers, high ratio between health workers/ tuberculosis patients significantly correlated with lower tuberculosis (OR= 0.01; 95% CI< 0.01 up to 0.44; p= 0.016). Community health Centers had contextual effect toward tuberculosis recurrence with Intra-Class Correlation (ICC) by 38.67%.Conclusion: Factors in individual and community health centers level may affect tuberculosis recurrence. Community Health Centers has contextual effect toward tuberculosis recurrent. Keywords: Tuberculosis recurrence, tuberculosis, predictor, Community Health Center, multilevel analysisCorrespondence: Muvida. Abstract

Previous studies in the field of consumer online purchasing decisions found that the ease of transaction, product quality and promotion factors determine the level of purchasing decisions. This study aims to determine the effect of ease of transaction, product quality and promotion on consumer purchasing decisions. This research is quantitative research using a survey approach in sampling. The population used in this study is the Shopee market place consumer in the city of Ternate. The technique used in sampling is purposive sampling method. A total of one hundred respondent data meets the criteria that have been set previously. The research instrument was tested first with validity and reliability tests to ensure that the questions were correct in measuring the independent and dependent variables. The analytical method used is multiple linear regression using the SPSS program. The results of this study indicate that the three independent variables studied, namely the ease of transactions, product quality and promotions, are proven to have a positive and significant influence on the purchase decision variable as the dependent variable.

Abstract

This study attempts to dismantle the depth aspects produced by two-dimensional (2D) media such as paintings. as the basis for the production of three-dimensional (3D) space. In particular, we argue that painting as artwork with a flat surface can be transformed into 3D space by incorporating depth aspects. Even though it has a flat surface, painting as a 2D medium has the impression of 3D space and volume, which can be circumvented by constructing the perception of depth. To explore the production of 3D space through depth aspects, four 2D paintings were analyzed to find out how the depth aspects were constructed. The analysis reveals the perception of depth technique through interposition as the depth cues within the arrangement of layers. The analysis also reveals the color contrast as additional aspect that strengthen the perception of depth. Both the interposition and the color contrast become the important aspects that create the perception of depth in the production of the 3D space.

Abstract

Stroke is one of the leading causes of disability and death worldwide. Thrombolytic therapy using intravenous recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rt-PA) is the recommended treatment. However, functional outcomes vary due to various factors. Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze the factors affecting clinical outcomes of acute ischemic stroke patients treated with intravenous rt-PA. Method: This research was a retrospective study with a total sample of 52 acute ischemic stroke patients who received intravenous rt-PA therapy. The research variable data were collected from medical records, then statistically analyzed and correlated with patient clinical outcomes. Data from medical records were collected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, then statistically analyzed using STATA 13. Univariate analysis is presented in a list of categories according to the research variables determined by percentage (standard error). Bivariate analysis was tested using simple logistic regression and multivariate analysis using multiple logistic regression. Results: The results of this study showed that patient clinical outcomes are not significantly impacted by risk factors (age, gender, prior stroke history, comorbidities), COVID-19 vaccination, onset and severity of stroke, HCTS onset, dosage, or onset therapy. The side effects of intravenous rt-PA have a significant impact on patient clinical outcomes, including therapy response and discharge condition (p = 0.008, p < 0.05, and p = 0.012, OR 34.073 (95% CI 2.165 – 536.147)), but do not affect the length of hospital stay. Conclusions: In considering the other factors, the study indicates that patients experiencing adverse effects from intravenous rt-PA have worse clinical outcomes.
