Abstract

ABSTRACT In recent decades, Asia has emerged as a pivotal hub of global economic growth, with rapid economic expansion evident across the region. This paper explores the effectiveness of the ASEAN Plus Three (APT) framework, comprising the ten ASEAN member states along with China, Japan, and South Korea, in driving regional economic development through import substitution, export-led growth, and structural adjustment strategies. The analysis highlights significant advancements in regional economic integration and infrastructure development, supported by robust data demonstrating the region's dynamic transformation. Before the implementation of APT strategies, ASEAN Plus Three countries exhibited varying levels of economic performance, with GDP growth rates averaging 4.2% across the region, contrasted with a global average of 2.8% (IMF, 2023). Post-implementation data reveals a notable increase, with regional GDP growth reaching 5.3% in 2022, surpassing the global average and demonstrating the impact of APT strategies (IMF, 2023). The study employs a comparative analysis of three key case studies: regional economic integration, infrastructure development, and food and energy security. Results indicate that intra-regional trade has increased significantly, contributing to over 30% of total regional trade by 2021 (ASEAN Secretariat, 2022). This paper underscores the critical role of APT in enhancing economic stability and development within the Asian region. It provides policy recommendations for strengthening regional cooperation and addressing challenges such as income disparities and structural imbalances. Future research could further investigate the nuanced impacts of APT's strategies on individual member states and explore the long-term sustainability of these development approaches. Abstract

The purpose of this research is to carry out an in-depth investigation on the social and economic effects that carbon trading schemes have had on East Asian nations of various kinds. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficiency of carbon trading programs in East Asian countries by employing a comparative analysis. The study's primary objectives are to comprehend the variations in outcomes that occur across different countries and to find the most successful methods for carbon trading. An approach known as case study research is utilized in this study in order to promote a more nuanced understanding of the social and economic implications that carbon trading regimes have in a variety of settings. In order to evaluate the social ramifications of carbon trading, qualitative data will be collected, which will include community perspectives, environmental justice issues, and societal changes. Additionally, economic metrics such as gross domestic product, employment rates, and industrial growth will be studied. For the purpose of formulating climate policies that are more effective, equitable, and environmentally sustainable, the findings of the study can provide policymakers with significant insights. The paper also makes recommendations for future research directions, such as conducting longitudinal studies to evaluate the long-term social and economic repercussions of carbon trading programs, investigating the implications of carbon trading across different sectors, and incorporating the perspectives of stakeholders into future research. According to the findings of the study, carbon trading programs have major economic and social consequences. These programs include the creation of economic incentives for businesses or governments to reduce carbon emissions in an efficient manner, as well as the promotion of a societal atmosphere that is sympathetic to sustainable practices.

Abstract

Small Island Developing States are economically dependent on tourism and fisheries, both of which are closely related to marine ecosystems and sustainable coastal development. The limitations of geographic remoteness and isolation from international markets place them at a disadvantage economically and socially, so a way out is needed to address the economy of Small Island Developing States by applying the blue economy. This study aims to provide a comprehensive explanation of the blue economy as the key to sustainable coastal development in Small Island Developing States. This research uses a qualitative method by using a literature review of several studies that have been conducted. Based on the research that has been done, it is found that the solution offered by the blue economy in handling the economy and coastal development is through its integration with the circular economy in managing waste by empowering organic waste from hotels and empowering coastal communities in creative economic development to be an effective way out for Small Island Developing States.
