Abstract

Community forest management are individualized according the decision of the land owners and yet have a standardized manage-ment method. Characteristics of community forest have a high diversity at the level of the land owners. Community forest sustainability can be seen from the forest stand structure. The aim of this study was to obtain horizontal stand structure model and compile yield regulation method for each community forest land ownership. Information of the community forest stand in the Cidokom Vil-lage, Rumpin District obtained exploratively and preparation of the yield regulation method analyzed descriptively.  Sample of sub-districts, villages, and community forest owners was determined by purposive sampling by considering the potential of community forests, technical convenience in the field, accessibility of research locations, and representation of land area data in community forest land ownership groups. From negative exponential function at community forest, obtained “k” values ranges between 39.71–2318.99 and “a” values ranges between -1.58–0.01. The results showed that the stand structure of each land owners of community forest varies and yield regulation method can be used by the community forest landowners which can be adjusted with the cutting decision and land contition to achieve community forest sustainability.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menduga simpanan biomassa dan stok karbon pada tegakan sengon (Albizia falcataria) di hutan rakyat Desa Gading Wetan, Kabupaten Probolinggo. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah pentingnya peran hutan rakyat dalam mitigasi perubahan iklim melalui penyerapan karbon, dengan fokus pada tegakan sengon yang memiliki siklus rotasi pendek dan nilai ekonomi tinggi. Metode yang digunakan meliputi pengukuran diameter dan tinggi pohon secara sensus pada lahan seluas 2,7 ha, serta perhitungan volume, biomassa, dan karbon menggunakan pendekatan alometrik dan rumus standar yang sesuai. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa total volume tegakan mencapai 357,76 m³ dengan volume per hektar sebesar 132,50 m³. Simpanan biomassa tercatat sebesar 63,2 ton/ha, sedangkan stok karbon yang tersimpan sebesar 29,71 ton/ha. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa pertumbuhan diameter dan tinggi sangat berpengaruh terhadap akumulasi biomassa dan karbon. Simpulan dari penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa tegakan sengon di lokasi studi memiliki potensi signifikan dalam menyimpan karbon, sehingga mendukung pengelolaan hutan rakyat yang berorientasi pada aspek lingkungan dan potensi insentif karbon ke depan.

Abstract

AbstractCommunity forests represent a form of community-based forest resource management that significantly contributes to local economic income, ecological conservation, and climate change mitigation. Cidokom Village, Rumpin Sub-district, Bogor Regency, holds great potential for community forest development. However, data on the horizontal stand structure of community forests in this area remains limited. This study aims to analyze the horizontal stand structure, distribution, and abundance of tree species in the community forests of Cidokom Village to support sustainable management planning. The results show that planting patterns in Cidokom Village's community forests vary, combining timber-yielding trees, fruit trees, and seasonal crops. Timber-yielding species preferred by landowners include sengon and jabon. High tree density in smaller diameters is attributed to inadequate planting spacing and natural regeneration. The horizontal stand structure follows a negative exponential model with an inverted-J pattern, indicating normality for uneven-aged forests, typical of community forests in the study area. This research is expected to enhance the ecological and economic contributions of community forests while serving as a reference for management in other areas with similar characteristics.Keywords: Planting spacing, species composition, tree distribution.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran siswa terhadap pentingnya pelestarian lingkungan melalui sosialisasi dan aksi penanaman pohon dengan teknik silvikultur. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di SMAN 12 Kota Jambi dengan melibatkan 29 peserta siswa. Metode yang digunakan mencakup pretest, sosialisasi, diskusi interaktif, pemutaran video edukatif, posttest, serta praktik penanaman pohon secara langsung. Materi yang disampaikan mencakup fungsi pohon, dampak kerusakan lingkungan, serta teknik penanaman yang ramah lingkungan. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan peserta sebesar 33% berdasarkan perbandingan hasil pretest dan posttest. Kegiatan ini berhasil menumbuhkan pemahaman dan sikap peduli terhadap lingkungan pada diri peserta, serta memperkuat karakter gotong royong dalam menjaga kelestarian alam di lingkungan sekolah. Partisipasi aktif siswa dalam praktik penanaman menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan edukatif berbasis pengalaman nyata efektif dalam menumbuhkan kesadaran lingkungan di kalangan generasi muda.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Sunlight plays a crucial role in the process of photosynthesis because it provides the energy source that plants need. The intensity of light received by plants greatly affects their growth and the efficiency of photosynthesis. The rate of photosynthesis in plants is also greatly influenced by the intensity of sunlight, where if there is sufficient light intensity, adequate amounts of water and carbon dioxide, and appropriate temperatures, photosynthesis will usually reach its peak. The purpose of this research is to observe the rate of photosynthesis in Tanjung (Mimusops elengi Linn.) and Merbau darat (Intsia palembanica) plants with various treatments such as the addition of topsoil, subsoil, rice husk charcoal, cocopeat, sand, cow dung fertilizer, and NPK fertilizer using a plant photosynthesis meter. The research was conducted at the Educational Forest and Nursery Laboratory of the Forestry Department, Faculty of Agiculture, Jambi University. The results of this study indicate that Tanjung with the treatment of topsoil, rice husk charcoal, and 5 g of NPK is the best fertilizer application, as evidenced by the highest photosynthesis rate of 31.7 µmolCO2 m-2s-1. Meanwhile, for the merbau darat seedlings, the treatment with topsoil, sand, and 2 g of NPK fertilizer yielded the highest results for the photosynthesis rate.   Keywords: photosynthesis rate, NPK fertilizer, merbau darat, tanjung, subsoil   ABSTRACT Cahaya matahari sangat berperan dalam proses fotosintesis karena dapat memberikan sumber energi yang sangat dibutuhkan oleh tanaman. Intensitas cahaya yang diterima tanaman sangat mempengaruhi pertumbuhan dan efisiensi fotosintesis. Laju fotosintesis pada tanaman juga sangat di pengaruhi oleh intensitas cahaya matahari, dimana jika intensitas cahaya yang cukup, jumlah air dan karbon dioksida yang cukup serta suhu yang sesuai, fotosintesis biasanya akan mencapai puncaknya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat seberapa tinggi laju fotosintesis pada tanaman Tanjung (Mimusops elengi Linn.) dan Merbau darat (Intsia palembanica) dengan berbagai perlakuan seperti penambahan media topsoil, subsoil, arang sekam, cocopeat, pasir, pupuk kotoran sapi dan pupuk NPK dengan alat plant photosyntesis meter. Penelitian dilakukan di Laboratorium Hutan Pendidikan dan Pembibitan Jurusan Kehutanan, Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Jambi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa tanaman Tanjung dengan pemberian perlakuan topsoil, arang sekam dan NPK 5 g merupakan pemberian pupuk terbaik dengan hasil laju fotosintesis tertinggi yaitu 31,7 µmolCO2m-2s-1. Sedangkan pada bibit merbau darat dengan pemberian perlakuan topsoil, pasir dan pupuk NPK 2 g mendapatlan hasil tertinggi untuk laju fotosintesisnya.   Kata kunci: laju fotosintesis, merbau darat, pupuk NPK, tanjung, subsoil

Abstract

Indonesia has the third-largest tropical forest area in the world, making it a key player in global climate change mitigation efforts. This study aims to identify tree species and estimate above-ground carbon (AGC) stocks in the Sungai Buluh Peat Protected Forest, Jambi. The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach using permanent plot methods and allometric equations across 30 plots measuring 20×20 meters. Data collected included tree species, diameter, and height, which were then analyzed to calculate biomass and carbon stocks. The results identified 1,140 individuals from 26 species, with Mangifera parvifolia, Dyospyros siamang, and Madhuca modleyana being the most dominant. The stand volume reached 426.11 m³/ha, while the estimated AGC was 173.96 tons/ha. The majority of the carbon stock was contributed by the tree strata, accounting for more than 73%. These findings highlight the importance of conserving peatland forests as long-term carbon reservoirs.
