Abstract

Ants are social insects that play a vital role in maintaining ecosystem balance and can serve as ecological indicators of environmental change. This study aimed to determine the variation of ant species in habitats with varying levels of disturbance. Data collection methods included pitfall traps and bait traps at three different locations over two days. Data analysis was performed by calculating the Shannon-Wiener diversity index and observing species composition and abundance. The results showed that 7,350 individual ants were identified in five subfamilies and eleven genera. The genus Anoplolepis was the most dominant in this study. The diversity index value was moderate in more protected areas and low in more disturbed areas. Community diversity was influenced by several environmental parameters such as temperature, light intensity, and humidity. The results also showed that ant preferences for protein and carbohydrate baits varied across genera. In conclusion, the level of habitat disturbance influences the composition and structure of ant communities, which can be used as a basis for monitoring ecosystem conditions.

Abstract

Indonesia has a very high plant diversity, with potential for bio-pesticides among these plants. Baluran National Park is a location that potentially boasts a high level of plant diversity. This study explores the potential of plants as natural pesticides in the savanna Bekol and Musim forest of Baluran National Park. The research employed an exploratory descriptive method. The data collection was conducted through observation and documentation. A total of 54 species from 28 plant families were successfully identified. Twenty-three species from 13 families have the potential to be used as biopesticides. Fourteen species were found in the Bekol savanna, and 10 species were found in the Musim forest. Pesticide plants are most commonly found in the Fabaceae family. These plants contain various compounds that offer potential for controlling plant pests. Active compounds found in these plants, including alkaloids, flavonoids, and saponins, were highlighted as potential biopesticides. The research also emphasized the negative environmental impact of chemical pesticides and the potential of plant-based pesticides as an alternative. The findings offer valuable insights into the use of natural pesticides in modern agriculture.

Abstract

Misunderstanding concepts in Biology learning can hinder the process of knowledge reception and assimilation in students, potentially impeding their academic achievement. This study aims to explore student misconceptions using concept maps. The research was conducted at MAN 1 Tangerang Selatan (State Islamic High School 1 South Tangerang) in October 2022. The material used to explore misconceptions was the human reproductive system, which students had previously studied. A qualitative descriptive method was employed in this study. Purposive sampling was used as the sampling technique. Data were collected using the Student Worksheet for Concept Map Compilation and Creation instrument, which contained instructions for creating concept maps, preceded by an explanation of concept maps, their characteristics, examples, and steps for creating them. Clarification interviews were also conducted to clarify misconceptions revealed in the students' concept maps. Student concept map answers were analyzed based on categories of knowing concepts, misconceptions, and not knowing concepts. The results from the concept map creation test and clarification interviews showed that students experienced misconceptions regarding human reproductive organ concepts, gametogenesis, fertilization, pregnancy, menstruation, and breastfeeding. Students exhibited the most misconceptions regarding the concept of Fertilization. Thus, concept maps can be used as an evaluation tool for misconceptions experienced by students

Abstract

Permasalahan sampah telah menjadi isu krusial di berbagai wilayah Indonesia. Sampah organik akan menimbulkan bau yang menyengat dan mudah membusuk apabila tidak dipilah dan diolah dengan tepat. Tujuan dari kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini adalah untuk memperkenalkan konsep bank sampah dan memberikan penyuluhan, serta pelatihan tentang pengolahan sampah organik menggunakan metode Takakura guna meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kepedulian lingkungan siswa SDN 3 Pangandaran. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 28 Mei 2025 yang melibatkan 33 peserta didik Sekolah Dasar Negeri 3 Pangandaran. Rangkaian kegiatan yang dilaksanakan diawali dengan penyampaian materi, mengerjakan pre-test, dilanjutkan dengan pelatihan pengelolaan sampah organik, diakhiri dengan post-test. Metode penelitian yang dipilih adalah Participatory Action Research, dengan tahapan sosialisasi, pelatihan-implementasi, dan evaluasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) berhasil secara signifikan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan minat perilaku siswa terkait kompos dan bank sampah.
