Abstract

This research is based on Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection which can increase the value of erythrocyte sedimentation rate. Where the transmission of these bacteria through the respiratory tract is known as Droplet Infection. The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of one month tuberculosis treatment on the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and acid fast bacilli (AFB) examination. This type of research is a laboratory observation study with an accidental sampling technique of 30 samples which was carried out at the Singotrunan Banyuwangi health center for 30 days. The results showed that out of 30 samples examined, it showed that there was an influence of ESR and acid fast bacilli examinations on Tuberculosis patients who had been treated for one month. The conclusion is that there is an influence on Tuberculosis patients on ESR and AFB examinations at the Singotrunan Banyuwangi Health Center. Keywords : Tuberculosis, ESR, AFB

Abstract

Soil is a mineral material that has several unconsolidated forms which are located on the surface of the earth and have undergone several treatments. Soil-Transmitted Helminth (STH) is an intestinal nematode that in its life cycle requires a soil medium for the infective form to mature. worms are moist soil, shady, and protected from sunlight. This study aims to determine whether there is contamination of "Soil-Transmitted Helminth" eggs and what species are present in the rice fields using the Native method. This examination uses a 2% eosin solution. The sample uses paddy fields in Sukodono Village. Sampling at 3 sampling points with 3 types of samples, the total sample is 9 samples of paddy soil. The research was conducted on April 26-28 2021 at the Parasitology Laboratory, Faculty of Health Sciences, Maarif Hasyim Latif University, Sidoarjo, on 9 samples of paddy soil, the results obtained were 3 types of samples, or 33% of the soil contaminated with worm eggs and 6 types of samples or 66% not contaminated with worm eggs. Keywords: Paddy fields, Soil Transmitted Helminth, Native Method

Abstract

Peel of purple and yellow passion fruit has the potential to be an antioxidant. The flavonoid and total phenol compound groups are two examples of natural antioxidant compounds that can potentially be antioxidants. Many studies have used 70% methanol solvent to extract flavonoids and total phenolics from plants. The aim of this study is to analyze the potential of 70% methanol extract from the peel of purple and yellow passion fruit as an in vitro antioxidant using the DPPH method, total flavonoid, and phenolic levels. The passion fruit peel powder was macerated with 70% methanol for four days. The total flavonoid contents were determined using quercetin, and total phenols were determined using gallic acid. The 2.2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) was used for in vitro antioxidant activity by determining the percent inhibition of DPPH radicals. The flavonoid content in the 70% methanol extract of purple and yellow passion fruit peel is 1.2824 and 1.9775 mg QE/g extract, respectively. In contrast, the total phenolic content in 70% methanol extract of purple and yellow passion fruit peel is 15.8 and 3.6 mg GAE/g extract, respectively. The 70% methanol extract of purple passion fruit peel at a concentration of 80 mg/L resulted in a more significant percent inhibition of DPPH free radicals (72.80 %) than yellow passion fruit (64.91 %). In conclusion, the results suggest that 70 % methanol extract from purple and yellow passion fruit peel can decrease free radicals and be a natural antioxidant.Keyword: Antioxidant activity, Flavonoid, Methanol extract, Passion fruit peel, Total phenol

Abstract

Escherichia coli bacteria are bacteria used as indicators of contamination. Bacteriological water testing can use a Membrane Filtration (MF) and a Multiple Tube-Fermentation (MTF). This study aims to compare the membrane filtration and Multiple Tube-Fermentation methods on the presence of Escherichia coli in clean water. The two methods are compared to determine the percentage difference in the results of the two tests. The research methodology uses a description of observation. 20 samples of water boreholes were used and tested for the presence of Escherichia coli. Calculation of bacterial groups uses SNI standard references regulated by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia. The results showed that the average number of  Escherichia coli bacteria by the Multiple Tube-Fermentation method was less than the Membrane Filtration method. There is a difference in the percentage of the results of the two tests by 40%. Multiple Tube Fermentation is more sensitive than the Membrane Filtration method for detecting the presence of Escherichia coli in clean water. Keywords : Water, Escherichia coli, Membrane filtration, Multiple tube-fermentation

Abstract

HbA1C is glycosylated hemoglobin at the N-terminal group, HbA1C is hemoglobin with a minor component closely related to blood glucose. HbA1C is referred to as the breakdown of sugar in the body's metabolism or glycosylated hemoglobin or glycohemoglobin. HbA1C has several examination methods such as the Boronate Affinity method and Nephelometry Photometry. The two main concepts of HbA1C measurement are based on the separation of hemoglobin fractions and chemical reactions. Both of these methods offer a fast, simple, precise and accurate alternative to the currently used methods and provide substantial freedom from many common hassles. This type of research is comparative analytic experimental. In this study, 25 samples were used during the November-January 2023 period. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the results of the HbA1C examination using two methods. In this study it was concluded that based on the Independent T Test it showed the results of Sig 0.913 > ? (0.05) so that it could be concluded that there was no significant difference in the results of the two examination methods Keywords : HbA1C, Boronate Affinity, Nephelometry Photometry

Abstract

Banana peels contains simple sugars and complex sugars which can be utilized in metabolism of microorganisms. This means that banana peels can be used as an alternative culture medium for microorganisms. Rhizopus sp. and Saccharomyces cerevisiae is a type of microbe that often found in nature, and is one type of microbe that can be used in the food and non-food industries. In general, fungi need nitrogn, carbon, vitamins and growth factors. In this research, two types of fungi were grown on the Musa paradisiaca peels (pisang tanduk) and Musa acuminata peels (pisang kepok), as well as potato dextrose agar as a control medium. Growth was observed 24, 48 and 72 hours after inoculation. The data obtained is a qualitative data and analyzed descriptively. We found that the growth results on alternative medium using M. acuminata were quite good for Rhizopus sp. and S. cerevisiae. Meanwhile, medium using M. paradisiaca more suitable for the growth of Rhizopus sp. Keywords: Musa paradisiaca peels, Musa acuminata peels, Rhizopus sp., Saccharomyces cerivisiae
