Abstract

Morning sickness or nausea and vomiting in the morning usually occurs in first trimester pregnant women at 6-12 weeks of gestation. Continuous morning sickness can have a negative impact on pregnant women, namely hyperemesis gravidarum. This has a bad impact on pregnant women. One of the treatments that can be done is through ginger oil aromatherapy which has a strong aromatic stimulus and can control nausea and vomiting by increasing intestinal peristalsis. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of ginger oil aromatherapy against morning sickness in first trimester pregnant women. The research design used was a quasi-experimental approach with pre-test and post-test without control group design. Data analysis in this study used the Wilcoxon test. The results of this study indicate a p value of 0.000 (p value <0.05), which means that there is an effect of ginger oil aromatherapy on morning sickness in first trimester pregnant women. The conclusion of this study is ginger oil aromatherapy is effective in reducing the degree of morning sickness in first trimester pregnant women.

Abstract

Background: Amilies play a crucial role in preventing the transmission and recurrence of disease by fostering care and instilling habits of clean and healthy living-most notably, the proper practice of handwashing. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has officially ended, new cases continue to emerge, and other infectious diseases remain a public health concern. Therefore, family support is essential to achieving optimal health, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Objective: To improve the health status of families and communities, and to prevent infections and disease recurrence particularly among mothers in the Mojogedang 1 area. Method: The community service activity included lectures, presentations using banners and canva-based materials about family support and infection prevention. The program was conducted at the Mental Revolution House (WCS), covering the stages from assessment to evaluation. Results: The proportion of participants categorized as having “good” family support increased from 16.8% to 66.7%, while those with “good” knowledge rose from 25% to 91.7%. Conclusion: Empowered family support serves as the most effective system for preventing infectious diseases and their recurrence.

Abstract

One of the main factors leading to the high incidence of infectious diseases is the low knowledge and preventive behaviour among the community (Alodokter, 2018; Hellosehat Kemenkes, 2022). This study aims to examine the role of health education in increasing public awareness of the importance of infectious disease prevention, and to analyse the effectiveness of educational methods used in various health programmes. This research uses a case study method with a qualitative approach. Case studies were chosen because they allow researchers to explore in depth the phenomenon of the role of health education in increasing community awareness of the importance of preventing infectious diseases (Ismadi, 2023). The focus of this study was to holistically understand health education interventions in a particular community and their impact on behaviour change and community awareness From the results shown in Table 1, the attitudes of subjects I and II before being given health counselling related to infectious diseases were in the less category with a percentage of 60%. Table 2 shows that after being given health counselling to improve family attitudes in preventing infectious diseases in adolescents. Subject I where the pre-test results were 60% and post-test results were 90%. The importance of health education in preventive interventions, which has a tangible impact on behaviour change and reduced risk of disease transmission.
