Abstract

Abstract

The main campus of UNS Surakarta, occupies an area of ± 59,211 Ha. At present, the problem faced by UNS is the increasing of narrow green space, so that it increases rain water and lead to runoff. This process has an impact on the increase in flood discharge and the reduction in the supply of rainwater which becomes ground water reserves. In order to realize a Green Campus that supports sustainable development, efforts have been made relating to groundwater and surface water management. A total of 117 infiltration wells and more than 500 biopori infiltration units have been built, which serve to increase shallow groundwater reserves so that it increases rainwater harvesting and soil moisture. Rainwater that cannot be accommodated in infiltration wells is channeled to the lake named Danau UNS which has an area of 1,206 Ha with a maximum water volume of ± 7,959 m3 , so that it is expected to be able to maintain the shallow ground water balance at the Kentingan UNS Campus. In the future planning, Universitas Sebelas Maret will improve domestic wastewater treatment for other uses, so that there is an efficient use of sustainable clean water

Abstract

Waste both organic waste and inorganic waste is one of the threats and serious problems being faced in urban areas in Magetan. Milang Asri landfill (TPA) Magetan has experienced overload capacity conditions. The active role of the community in the form of Waste Bank and KSM (Community Self Help Group) in managing 3 R waste (Temporary waste disposal site) is needed to reduce the volume of waste piled up in Milangasri landfill. One alternative to solving the waste problem is to join the program of the Magetan "Sapu Jagad" Waste Bank, which was established in 2015. According to the Regulation of the Minister of Environment of the Republic of Indonesia Number 13 of 2012, a waste bank is a place for sorting and collecting waste that can be recycled and or reused to have economic value. The waste collected has been realized by the Sapu Jagad waste bank manager into various products of economic value: including bags, wallets, tables and chairs, crafts etc. Sapu Jagad Waste Bank also organizes education and training to convert waste into various products of economic value. Another activity is to campaign about the importance of the 3R principle (reuse, reduce, and recycle) both to the general public and to schools. Sapu Jagad Waste Bank plays an active role in waste processing, especially non-organic waste. The processed waste products from the Sapu Jagad waste bank have begun to be marketed online. The output of the activities that have been produced is that the waste bank has carried out the process of recording waste managed by the waste bank, waste bank funds and operational bookkeeping has been carried out using a simple program on the computer provided by the implementing team. The recording of sales of waste products into handicrafts and chairs and tables has improved. Production Process Aspects: The process of storing plastic water packaging and plastic packaging waste has been pressed using a plastic press machine that was also invested in the waste bank. The storage of plastic waste has become very space-efficient. Business Management Aspects: All aspects of business management, waste bank financial records, waste craft business records, canteen business, and waste bank training are still done manually. The expected output of the activity is a wider raw material storage and marketing process supported by adequate raw materials will be achieved. Mandatory output in the form of publication of the Journal of Community Service, mass media news published in online dailies and videos of activities uploaded on Youtube

Abstract

Abstract

The phenomenon of urban population growth is a global concern which will result in a decrease in the value of ecosystem services in an area. Sukoharjo Regency is an area affected by the development of Surakarta City; therefore, rapid growth is taking place. The objective of this study is to investigate the interplay between urbanization, ecosystem services, and the provision of clean water in Sukoharjo Regency in 2022. The methods used in the study were calculating the percentage of the urban population to determine the level of urbanisation, AHP and overlay to ascertain the ecosystem service score, together with cross-tabulation to establish the relationship between these two variables. The result of this study is that the level of urbanisation produces a pattern that districts in the north tend to comprise a higher level. The clean water supply ecosystem services in Sukoharjo Regency obtained results dominated by the low to medium level. The situation regarding the level of urbanisation and ecosystem services in Sukoharjo Regency reveals a relationship where an increase in the level of urbanisation will reduce the value of ecosystem services.

Abstract

The increasing physical development and decreasing water infiltration areas have led to a reduction in groundwater reserves. Groundwater is experiencing a decline both in quantity and quality over time. The rising demand for water is inversely proportional to the diminishing availability of water in terms of quality. This situation also implicates a decrease in the quantity of groundwater. Integrated protection and management efforts must be carried out from upstream to downstream, one of which can be achieved through groundwater conservation. Therefore, the aim of this research is to understand the shallow groundwater flow patterns in the city of Madiun. This study conducted an inventory, identification, and mapping of the area to determine the criticality of shallow groundwater in terms of quantity using the shallow groundwater flow pattern analysis method. The results of the analysis generally indicate that the direction of shallow groundwater flow in the city of Madiun, in the eastern areas of the Madiun River, flows from south to north, while in the western areas of the Madiun River, it flows from west to east, all ultimately leading towards the Madiun River.

Abstract

According to Sustainable Waste Indonesia (SWI) data, less than 10% of plastic waste is recycled and more than 50% still ends up in landfill site. The total volume of waste generated by the City of Surakarta in 2020 is 107,873 tons per year, so a waste management scheme is needed that is the joint responsibility of the government, the private sector and the community. One of the waste management schemes involving community participation is through the Waste Bank. The Waste Bank is one solution to deal with the problem of increasing waste production. The waste bank program is a collective self-subsistent waste management system with the principle of recycling. People who act as bank customers will also benefit by depositing their waste and then saving it through a waste bank and from their savings can be taken as needed. Thus, the waste bank will have a positive impact on the environment and improve economic conditions in a community. The sustainable self-subsistent waste bank management program is a solution in handling waste problems in RW 28, Mojosongo sub-district, Surakarta. The implementation of the waste bank management program in RW 28 Mojosongo Village, among others: 1) the establishment of a waste bank, 2) technical training, 3) implementation and development of the waste bank system.
