Abstract

Obesity in school-age children is an increasing health problem that has a long-term impact on children's physical and mental conditions. One effective prevention strategy is through early health education in the school environment. This community service activity aims to increase elementary school students' knowledge about obesity prevention through interactive and fun health education. The activity was carried out at SDN 02 Pamulang, South Tangerang, involving 140 5th grade students, four lecturers, and 14 nursing students. The methods used included anthropometric measurements (height and weight), educational game “Isi Piringku”, counseling using poster media, as well as pre-test and post-test. The results of the activity showed an increase in students' enthusiasm and knowledge of the importance of balanced nutrition and physical activity as an effort to prevent obesity. This activity also received full support from the school and teachers. As a follow-up, monitoring student health through the School Health Unit (UKS) is recommended to be carried out regularly to maintain the results that have been achieved. Strengthening the role of schools as an educational environment in the promotion of healthy lifestyles is key in efforts to prevent obesity from an early age. Abstract

Background: Anemia remains a public health issue among pregnant women in Indonesia, including in the city of Depok. One of the causes is insufficient intake of micronutrients such as iron, folic acid, vitamin B12, and vitamin C, which play a crucial role in hemoglobin production. Objectives: This study aims to investigate the relationship between micronutrient intake and hemoglobin levels among pregnant women Methods: This study employed a cross-sectional design in Depok city, West Java, in April to May 2025. A sample of 107 pregnant women was selected using accidental sampling. Data were collected through interviews using a 24-hour Dietary Recall questionnaire and hemoglobin level test results from medical records. The Spearman Rank test was used for data analysis Results: The results showed that the majority of respondents had an adequate intake of micronutrients (81.3%) and hemoglobin levels in the non-anemic category (70.1%). A significant association was found between iron, folic acid, vitamin B12, and vitamin C intake and hemoglobin levels (p = 0.0001). A history of anemia was also strongly associated with hemoglobin levels (p = 0.0001; r = 0.706). Conclusion: Adequate intake of iron, folic acid, vitamin B12, and vitamin C plays a role in maintaining hemoglobin levels in pregnant women. Nutrition education and monitoring of micronutrient intake need to be improved in nursing practice to prevent anemia and pregnancy complications.

Abstract

Background: Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) is one of the complications of pregnancy that significantly contributes to maternal and infant morbidity and mortality rates. Although the prevalence of GDM is relatively low in Indonesia, the actual number may be higher due to underdiagnosis. There are limited previous studies on knowledge and preventive practices related to Gestational Diabetes Mellitus, particularly in Indonesia. Objective: To analyze the relationship between knowledge and preventive behavior of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus among pregnant women. Methods: A quantitative research study with a cross-sectional design involving 83 pregnant women in Bogor, West Java, Indonesia, selected through accidental sampling. The inclusion criteria were pregnant women in their first to third trimesters, while the exclusion criteria were those who had mental disorders. Data were collected using a questionnaire developed by Nanyangwe Siuluta, consisting of 31 items on knowledge and 5 items on preventive practices of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus. The multivariate  Logistic regression was performed to analyze the data. Results: The findings showed that 51.8% of pregnant women had good knowledge, and 54.2% had poor preventive behaviors. There is a significant relationship between age (p = 0.019), family history of diabetes (p = 0.021), knowledge (p < 0.001), and preventive practices of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus. Multivariate analysis showed that knowledge (p < 0.001) is a significant factor related to preventive practice after controlling for age (p = 0.169) and family history of diabetes (p = 0.428). Conclusion: These findings highlight the importance of educational interventions to enhance the knowledge of pregnant women to promote good prevention behavior.

Abstract

This study seeks to understand how the integration of Islamic studies is negotiated in health sciences education by examining the interaction between curricular intentions and teaching practices in everyday learning contexts. The study adopts a qualitative case study design. Data were generated through semi structured interviews with lecturers and academic managers, supported by analysis of curriculum documents and direct observation of classroom activities. The collected data were examined through thematic interpretation to capture how integrative decisions are formed and enacted. The findings show that while Islamic perspectives are formally acknowledged within curriculum frameworks, their realization in classroom instruction varies considerably. Lecturers interpret integrative goals in diverse ways, balancing religious values with professional competencies, disciplinary standards, and practical teaching constraints. As a result, integration emerges through selective emphasis, adaptation, and compromise rather than uniform application. The study concludes that integrating Islamic studies into health sciences education is best understood as a negotiated and evolving process. Sustainable integration requires institutional strategies that recognize pedagogical diversity and support lecturers in aligning religious perspectives with professional learning objectives.
