Abstract

This qualitative descriptive research is where it has the goal to analyze the workmanship of junior high school students' mistakes solving on circle material. The students who attended were 22 concerned about this researcher who became the subject of students of class VIII-SMP Negeri 6 Lembang one of the Lembang District State Junior High School data used in the form of test 5 questions, after the study was described. every question of why students experience errors in the speaker on each problem number in the Circle material. Student error analysis can be done by collecting data, presenterizing data and drawing conclusionsevery question of why students experience errors in the speaker on each problem number in the Circle material. Student error analysis can be done by collecting data, presenterizing data and drawing conclusions. The result of errors in the highest hardening of problem number 5 is 72% while the lowest error result in questions numbers 1 and 4 is 45%. By. The results of the study showed that students' errors in solving problems there are errors, misunderstandings to concepts, misrepresentation in reading contained in the problem, and errors in the optimization of problems Researchers have concluded that it turns out that there are still many students who make mistakes when talking about circle material.

Abstract

Students’ Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in mathematics learning remain low, particularly in analyzing, evaluating, and creating skills, indicating the need for instructional strategies that can better support students’ thinking processes. This study aimed to examine the effect of Problem-Based Learning enriched with metacognitive scaffolding (PBL-MS) on improving students’ HOTS. A quasi-experimental study with a pretest–posttest control group design was conducted at SMA Negeri 15 Bandung, involving 60 tenth-grade students divided into an experimental group (PBL-MS) and a control group (PBL). HOTS data were collected using an essay-based written test developed based on the revised Bloom’s taxonomy, covering analyzing, evaluating, and creating indicators. The results showed that the improvement in HOTS of students taught using PBL-MS was in the moderate category (N-Gain = 0.51), while students taught using PBL alone achieved a low category (N-Gain = 0.30). Statistical analysis indicated a significant difference between the two groups (Sig. 2-tailed < 0.05). These findings indicate that integrating metacognitive scaffolding into Problem-Based Learning provides a stronger effect on improving students’ higher-order thinking skills.

Abstract

Teaching methods and teacher techniques have not yet demonstrated student engagement in learning. Student activity during the learning process is very minimal, so problem-solving skills need improvement. The use of student worksheets still relies on routine questions, resulting in low learning motivation. The researcher will conduct research and development on Student Worksheets assisted by Canva using Problem-Based Learning, which aims to increase student engagement, active participation in learning, and the ability to solve problems based on real-life issues. The instruments used include tests, student response questionnaires, and teacher interviews. Students and teachers serve as respondents. The participants consist of 35 elementary school students from a public school in Cipatat District, West Bandung Regency. The results of this study show that Student Worksheets (LKPD) assisted by Canva using the Problem-Based Learning model can improve student engagement and problem-solving skills, as evidenced by the increase in post-test scores at the end of the learning process.
