Abstract

The research about growing pattern, condition factor and habitat of Spotted Barb Barbodes binotatus (Valenciennes, 1842) was done from August until December 2017. The aims of this research are to know growing pattern, condition factor, sex ratio and habitat of Spotted Barb (Barbodes binotatus) in Berambai Forest River. Fishing was done in every month, using purposive sampling method with some fishing gears. The result of the research shows that growing pattern of Spotted Barb (B. binotatus) was positive allometric, the average value of the condition factor was 1,064. The sex ratio of male and female were 1 : 1,06. The Berambai River in good condition for living of Spotted barb.

Abstract

The research was conducted in April-June 2017, located in the coastal waters of Muara Badak, Muara Badak District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency. This study aims to determine the strucure and community of fish in the coastal waters of Muara Badak and to know the types of fish that have economic value in the coastal waters of Muara Badak. Sampling was carried out using the Stratified Sampling method at 3 stations, which used step-by-step fishing gear. Identification of the types of fish obtained is done at the Laboratory of Animal Ecology and Systematics. Biology Department, FMIPA, Mulawarman University, Samarinda. The results showed that there were total fish catches obtained from the three carry net in the coastal waters of Muara Badak consisting of 28 species 19 families, 5 orders of a total of 407,566 individuals. The type of fish found based on the depth level of the coastline of Muara Badak at a depth of 7 meters found a fish community of 16 species from 4 Orders between l Clupeiformes, Perciformes, Syngnathiformes and Tetraodontiformes, at a depth of 8-10 meters to get as many as 23 species of fish The Order, while at a depth of <10 meters, 19 species of 3 Community Orders were most consumed by the people around the Muara Badak, namely Spratelloides gracilis as many as 340,166 individuals. Of the 2 fish species identified 20 species of economically valuable fish, namely: Alectis indicus, Alepes kleinii, Caesio caerulaurea, Caranx sexfasciatus, Chirocentrus dorab, Lutjanus erythropterus, Lutjanus lutjanus, Megalaspis cordyla, Rastrelliger kanagurta, Sardinella gibbosa, Scomberoides tol, Secutor insiator, Selaroides leptolepis, Siganus canaliculatus, Sphyraena obtusata, Spratelloides gracilis, terapon jarbua, Trichiurus lepturus, Ulua mentalis, Upeneus vittatus.

Abstract

Diversity and ecological distributions of amphibians in Berambai Waterfall area, East Kalimantan have never been known. The purposes of this study were to determine the diversity of amphibian species in relation to environmental conditions and the vertical-horizontal distribution. A total of 109 amphibians were captured using methods of the transect and the visual encounter survey for 20 days on two type observation habitats. The results of this study found 18 species from six amphibian families. Based on the number of species, the diversity amphibian index and dominance index have a stable of communities, with the high value of  Shannon-wiener  diversity index (H'),  the evenness  index (E), and the low value of dominance index (D) were 2.26, 0.78, and 0.16, respectively. Horizontal distribution of amphibians in their habitat showed that aquatic amphibian groups were found to be less than 5 m from the river bank, while terrestrial and semi-aquatic amphibians have a distribution of 5?15 m from the river bank. Vertical distribution of Polypedates leucomystax, Polypedates otilophus and Odorrana hosii in vegetation were found from 1.5?2.5 m above ground level, while Ansonia spinulifer, Chalcorana chalconota, Chalcorana raniceps were at a height of 0.5?<1.5 m from ground level. Diversity of amphibian in Berambai Waterfall area related to habitat conditions, while horizontal and vertical distributions are influenced by species, habits and food resources.

Abstract

Keanekaragaman jenis burung berkaitan dengan struktur dan strata vertikal vegetasi. Namun kerusakan hutan dapat mengganggu komunitas burung di habitatnya.  Objek wisata alam air terjun Barambai di Samarinda Kalimantan Timur adalah salah satu contoh  hutan yang mulai mengalami kerusakan akibat aktifitas pembukaan lahan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keanekaragaman, dominasi dan kesamaan jenis burung berdasarkan strata vertikal  vegetasi di kawasan Objek Wisata Alam Air Terjun Berambai. Metode point count digunakan untuk mengamati keanekaragaman jenis burung  berdasarkan  empat stratifikasi vertikal  vegetasi dan metode plot digunakan untuk membual profil vegetasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan total 45 jenis burung dari  674 individu ditemukan. Keempat statifikasi vertikal vegetasi menunjukkan indeks keanekaragaman sedang , indeks keseragaman relatif merata dan tidak ada jenis burung yang dominan

Abstract

Karakteristik morfologis dan histologis saluran pencernaan kelelawar pemakan buah, Cynopterus brachyotis belum banyak diketahui. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan dan membandingkan karakter morfologis dan histologis saluran pencernaan kelelawar pemakan buah, Cynopterus brachyotis. Total 10 sampel kelelawar ditangkap menggunakan metode jaring kabut di kawasan Kampus FMIPA Universitas Mulawarman Gunung Kelua, Samarinda dan dilanjutkan di Laboratorium Anatomi dan Histologi Hewan FMIPA, Universitas Mulawarman untuk dilakukan proses pembedahan, pengukuran dan pembuatan sayatan histologis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan secara morfologi, esofagus berupa saluran pendek memiliki panjang berkisar 30,90 – 59,49 mm. Bagian lambung terdiri atas daerah fundus, corpus dan pilorus memiliki panjang berkisar 17,48 – 34,45 mm dan diameter berkisar 4,11 – 5,83 mm. Usus berupa saluran berbelit belit dengan diameter hampir seragam, memiliki panjang berkisar 435,51 – 870,63 mm, tanpa sekum atau apendik. Secara histologi dinding saluran pencernaan terdiri atas tunika mukosa, tunika submukosa, tunika muskularis dan tunika serosa. Esofagus berdinding tipis terdiri atas 2 lipatan yang dibentuk oleh mukosa dan submukosa. Tunika mukosa pada lambung  terdiri atas 13 - 15 lipatan dengan sumur gaster relatif sempit dan dangkal. Permukaan lumen pada  usus kecil ditutupi oleh sejumlah filli yang relatif panjang dengan beberapa sel khusus seperti sel goblet dan eritrosit. Filli pada permukaan mukosa usus besar tidak ditemukan dan jumlah sel goblet lebih banyak dari pada usus halus. Perbandingan dengan spesies kelelawar pemakan serangga menunjukan perbedaan pada bentuk lambung dan panjang usus serta ketebalan pada lapisan tunikanya.

Abstract

Biology of bonylip barb (Osteochilus vittatus Valenciennes, 1842) in Benanga Reservoir, East Kalimantan is not yet known. The purpose of this study was to analyze distribution of the length and body weight of fishes, sex ratio, gonad maturity level, length-body weight relationship, and condition factor. In total 278 fishes samples were collected during the five months, from January to May 2019 with a purposive sampling method at Benanga Reservoir, and gill net with  mesh size 0.5; 1; and 1.5  inches used. The results of this research showed that the total length of the fishes analyzed ranged from 72.21–196.57 mm and body weight ranged from 5.12–89.21 g. The sex ratio of male and female were 1:2.02. The male and female fishes were dominated by mature gonad. The length-body weight relationship models calculated for the total fishes sample was W=1x10-5L2.967 (r=0.988) for males, W=5x10-6L3.199 (r=0.989) for females and W=7x10-6L3.126 (r=0.987) for both sexes. Isometric growth patterns (b=3) were observed in males, meanwhile positive allometric growth patterns (b>3) were observed in females and both sexes. Calculation of the condition factor (K) resulted in 1.181±0.117 for males, 0.949±0.094 for females, and 1.026±0.150 for all specimens. The condition factors of bonylip barb from the Benanga Reservoir inside the range recommended as suitable for freshwater fish species in the tropical regions.

Abstract

DNA barcoding of genus Kryptopterus catfish from Mahakam River, East Kalimantan by using mitochondrial DNA COI gene has been performed to obtain genetic marker (barcoding DNA), genetic characteristics and genetic tree. Amplification of mitochondrial COI gene regions was conducted by using COI Fish F1 and COI Fish R1 primers on the three catfish species consist of Kryptopterus apogon (N=3), K. micronema (N=6), and K. limpok (N=1). Based on partial COI mtDNA multiple alignment, we obtained three specific nucleotide site as genetic marker. Meanwhile, genetic characteristic analysis revealed 13.58% of nucleotide variation. Nucleotide substitution was greater at the third codon and transitional substitution was greater than transvertion. Genetic tree reconstruction based on p-distance separated the three catfish species with perfect bootstrap value. Abstrak Penelitian kode batang DNA spesies ikan lais genus Kryptopterus asal Sungai Mahakam Kalimantan Timur mengguna-kan gen COI DNA mitokondria dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengungkap penanda genetik (kode batang DNA), ka-rakterisasi genetik dan pohon genetik. Amplifikasi daerah gen COI DNA mitokondria dilakukan dengan menggunakan pasangan primer COI FishF1 dan COI FishR1 terhadap tiga spesies ikan lais yang terdiri atas Kryptopterus apogon (N=3), K. micronema (N=6), dan K. limpok (N=1). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penyejajaran berganda pada gen par-sial COI DNA mitokondria antara spesies K. apogon, K. micronema, dan K. limpok diperoleh tiga situs nukleotida spe-sifik sebagai penanda genetik (kode batang DNA). Analisis karakterisasi genetik pada genus Kryptopterus berdasarkan gen parsial COI DNA mitokondria menunjukkan situs nukleotida yang bervariasi sebesar 13,58%, substitusi nukleotida lebih besar pada kodon ketiga dan bersifat transisi dari pada transversi. Konstruksi ulang pohon genetik berdasarkan ni-lai p-distance dapat memisahkan kelompok spesies K. apogon, K. micronema,dan K. limpok dengan nilai bootstrap sempurna.

Abstract

Silurid catfishes O. miostoma (Vaillant, 1902) is an endemic species in Mahakam Watershed East Kalimantan. Biology reproduction aspect of this species is not yet known. The purpose of this study was to determine the stages of gonad maturation characteristics, egg size, and spawning type. Fish sampling conducted monthly from November 2013 to Oc-tober 2014, using many gears at four locations in Mahakam Watershed, i.e: Semayang Lake, Belayan River, Siran River and Tering River. To determine the stages of gonad maturation in silurid catfishes were carried out by morphologic and histologic examination methods. Spawning fish type was determined based on the distribution of eggs diameter. The results of this research showed that there are five gonad maturation stages of males and females of silurid catfishes. Dis-tribution of eggs diameter in gonad maturity stages ranges from 0.54 – 1.30 mm with simultaneous spawning type. Abstrak Ikan lais O. miostoma (Vaillant 1902) adalah spesies ikan endemik di Daerah Aliran Sungai (DAS) Mahakam Kaliman-tan Timur. Aspek biologi reproduksi ikan ini belum pernah diketahui. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan karak-teristik tahap kematangan gonad, ukuran telur, dan tipe pemijahan. Pengambilan contoh ikan dilakukan setiap bulan, dari bulan November 2013 sampai Oktober 2014 menggunakan berbagai jenis alat tangkap pada empat lokasi penelitian di DAS Mahakam yang meliputi: Danau Semayang, Sungai Belayan, Sungai Siran, dan Sungai Tering. Penentuan ting-kat kematangan gonad ikan lais dilakukan dengan metode pemeriksaan morfologis dan histologis. Tipe pemijahan ikan lais ditentukan berdasarkan sebaran diameter telur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada lima tahap kematangan gonad jantan dan betina ikan lais. Sebaran diameter telur pada tahap matang gonad berkisar dari 0,54 - 1,30 mm dengan tipe pemijahan serempak.

Abstract

Reproductive biology of silurid catfish O.miostoma(Vaillant 1902)as one of endemic species in Mahakam River East Kalimantan is not yet known. This study aimed to analysisreproductive aspect related to changing seasons, including sex-ratio, spawning season, spawning location, length at first gonad maturity, gonado-somatic index, and fecundity. Total fish samples (n=1214)were collected monthly from November 2013 to October 2014 at four locations in the Mahakam River, using many fishing gears.The results of this research showthe total length of fish ranged from 132.19 to 227.30 mm and weight ranged from 20.00 to 70.40 g. The overall sex ratio of male and female was1: 1.56, while at gonad maturity stages were1:1.77. The spawning season range from November to January and peak spawning occurs in December. The highest spawning location was found at swamp flood Semayang Lake. The length at first gonad maturity of male ranged of 191.05-202.60 mm, while it was in 179.56-198.50 female. Maximum average gonado-somatic index (GSI) values obtained for male and female were 0.32 and 2.07 respectively during spawning period in November and declined to minimum in February. The total fecundity and eggs diameter rangedfrom 2648 to 12495 eggsind-1and 0.61 to 1.30 mm respectively. There was a positive correlation between fecundity andtotal length and weightof fishes. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisisaspek reproduksi ikan laisberkaitan dengan perubahan musimyang mencakupnisbah kelamin, musim pemijahan, lokasi pemijahan, ukuran kali pertama matang gonad, indeks kematangan gonad dan fekunditas.Total ikan contoh 1214 ekor telah dikumpulkan setiap bulan mulai dari bulan November 2013 sampai Oktober 2014di empat lokasi perairan Sungai Mahakam, menggunakan berbagai alat tangkap. Hasil penelitian menunjukkanukuran panjang total ikan berkisar dari 132,19-227,30 mm dan bobot berkisar dari 20,00-70,40 gram.Nisbah kelamin seluruh ikan jantan dan betina yang diamati 1 : 1,56, sedangkanpada tahap kematangan gonad 1:1,77. Musim pemijahan terjadi mulai dari bulan November sampai Januari dan puncak pemijahan pada bulan Desember. Lokasi pemijahan tertinggi ditemukan di rawa banjiran Danau Semayang. Ukuran ikan pertamamatang gonad pada jantan berkisar dari 191,05-202,60 mm dan betina berkisar dari 179,56-198,50 mm. Rata-rata indeks kematangan gonad (IKG) tertinggi ditemukan pada jantan dan betina berturut turut 0,32 dan 2,07 selama musim pemijahanpada bulan November dan menurun hingga terendah pada bulan Februari. Fekunditas total berkisar dari 2.648-12.495 butir telur per individu.Ada korelasi positif antara fekunditas dengan panjang total dan bobot ikan.
