Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of an Augmented Reality workshop using Assemblr Edu in improving teachers’ technological pedagogical competence. Teachers at Yos Sudarso School experienced limitations in accessing technology-based training, resulting in low integration of digital media in learning. This study employed a quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design involving seven teachers. Data were collected using a validated questionnaire measuring four competence dimensions: cognitive, technical skills, affective, and pedagogical-technological competence. Data analysis was conducted using paired sample t-test and descriptive statistics. The results showed a significant improvement in the cognitive dimension (p = 0.040) with an increase of 30.2%. Technical skills increased by 27.6% but were not statistically significant. The affective dimension remained high and stable, while pedagogical-technological competence showed minimal change. These findings indicate that short-duration workshops are effective in strengthening teachers’ conceptual understanding of Augmented Reality; however, the development of pedagogical-technological competence requires sustained training and implementation mentoring

Abstract

Picky eating behavior in early childhood is a phenomenon that can influence the development of healthy eating habits, especially when children engage in social eating environments such as shared mealtime activities at school. This study aims to analyze in depth the eating behavior patterns of picky eater children during shared mealtime activities and to identify the role of teachers in assisting children with such behaviors at RA Al-Ahliyah Cikampek. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation using a purposive sampling technique. The main participant of this study was a child with the initials AS who was identified as having picky eating tendencies, while the supporting informants were classroom teachers who were directly involved in the implementation of shared mealtime activities. The findings revealed that the eating behavior patterns of the picky eater child during shared mealtime activities were reflected in three main forms: non-verbal refusal of the Free Nutritious Meal (Makanan Bergizi Gratis/MBG) menu, a strong preference for snack foods brought from home, and occasional attempts to try the MBG meals, although these attempts were not consistently maintained. These behaviors indicate that food familiarity, sensory experiences, and previously established eating habits play important roles in determining children's acceptance of food. Furthermore, teachers played significant roles as facilitators, motivators, and providers of emotional support through persuasive approaches without coercion, verbal encouragement, and the creation of a comfortable and positive eating environment. This study contributes to enriching the understanding of picky eating behavior in early childhood by examining it within the context of social interactions during shared mealtime activities in the RA environment. The findings can also serve as a reference for teachers, early childhood education institutions, and parents in developing more adaptive assistance strategies to support the establishment of healthy eating habits among children.

Abstract

The increasing use of gadgets among early childhood children has become a growing concern because it is believed to affect their social interactions in daily activities, including during mealtimes. This study aims to describe parents' perceptions of gadget use during mealtimes and its impact on the social interactions of early childhood children. The study employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. The participants consisted of seven parents who had children aged 5 to 6 years and were selected through purposive sampling, while two children were involved as observation subjects. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and documentation. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that most parents have negative perceptions of gadget use during mealtimes because it reduces children's focus on eating and limits communication with family members. Parents also perceive that gadget use has negative effects on children's social interactions, including reduced communication responses, eye contact, communication initiative, and participation in conversations. To address these issues, parents implement strategies such as limiting gadget use, educating children about appropriate gadget use, and consistently establishing and enforcing rules regarding gadget use. These findings highlight the importance of parental involvement in managing gadget use to support the development of social interaction skills in early childhood.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the phenomenon of Long Distance Marriage, which places young children in physical separation from one parent and may affect attachment formation. This study aims to describe parenting styles, parental roles in caregiving, and the form of children’s attachment to their parents in a Long Distance Marriage family. It employs a qualitative approach using a single case study method on one family in Banyubiru Subdistrict, Semarang Regency, whose father works in the shipping sector. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and field notes over five sessions, then analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model, with data validity ensured through technique and time triangulation. The findings reveal three points. First, the dominant parenting style applied is the authoritative (democratic) style. Second, caregiving roles are carried out collaboratively, with the mother as the primary caregiver, the father maintaining his emotional role through long-distance communication, and the grandparents as substitute caregivers. Third, the most dominant attachment pattern is secure attachment, formed toward the mother and grandmother and maintained toward the father. The study concludes that Long Distance Marriage does not automatically cause insecure attachment, as long as a responsive primary caregiver, consistent communication, and family network support are available.
