Abstract

Bloomberg international media has published the news about Maudy Ayunda titled “G-20 Role for 27-year-old Indonesia Singer Sparks Criticism”. The news contains controversy about Maudy Ayunda’s role as a spokesperson of G20 Indonesia. The purpose of this research to answer the study problem is a critical discourse analysis of Sara Mills on the media text Bloomberg about the controversial spokesperson of G20 Indonesia. This research uses qualitative descriptive methods. Data analysis was carried out by text analysis based on critical discourse by Sara Mills emphasis on women’s discourse. Based on the results of the analysis in this study, Bloomberg international media has focused on an economic global rubric. The researcher found Sara Mills critical discourse analysis in the position of social actors: (1) The position of the subject which cornered the role of objects in the form of marginalization and stereotype discrimination; (2) The object's position has no chance to tell herself; (3) The reader's position tends to be directed by the journalist's perspective to feel concerned about the Indonesian government's decision to rush to take human resources from Indonesian youth who are not ready to play an active role in the country's economic and political world.

Abstract

The advances in technology and the era of digitalization have brought people into a new situation, namely when facts are at stake. The principle of communication science that has 2 (two) sides of the message, which are the message delivered and the message received becomes increasingly biased. This is what makes a new phenomenon, post-truth increasingly widespread. Post-truth is the face of most contemporary phenomena. One of the causes is the presence of new media, where a person can become a consumer and  a producer as well. Post-truth is an expression of concern from those who care about the concept of truth and feel that concept is under attack. Indonesian media coverage in September 2022 is currently in that phase. This began with the summons of the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe over the alleged graft case of 1 billion Rupiah. The root of the post-truth problem occurred when loyalists staged demonstrations supporting and showing their side with Lukas Enembe. The research method that will be carried out uses a qualitative approach with descriptive presentation. The data collection technique is by interviewing, and also library research. It was found that his dedication to Papua for dozens of years made Lukas Enembe loved by his people and considered a father for the Papuan people.

Abstract

Billboards are one of the outdoor promotional media used to convey information or notifications to the public, which are usually used by many legislative candidates to carry out political campaigns. One of the viral billboards that was in the spotlight in 2020 because it looked like it was carrying out a political campaign, was when Arief Muhammad's face was surprisingly complete with the words 'Ready to Be Number 1' emblazoned on a street corner located in Bintaro, South Jakarta, which was interpreted by the public will plunge into the world of politics in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to focus on how a billboard can support marketing performance through a creative campaign that is packaged with a guerilla marketing strategy using Roland Barthes' semiotics, to produce denotative, connotative, mythical meanings, along with the findings of the ideology of capitalism and nationalism on these viral billboards. The results of this study indicate that all verbal and nonverbal signs on the billboard 'Ready to Be Number 1' are interpreted as a form of Arief Muhammad's seriousness in acquiring, promoting, and making Prepp Studio the number 1 men's fashion brand in Indonesia, under his leadership with Dimas Mairyan’s. The researcher concludes that the 'Ready to Be Number 1' billboard tries to take advantage of the momentum of the 2020 Regional Head Election campaign to support the campaign so that it becomes stronger with political overtones

Abstract

Bahasa merupakan elemen penting dalam kehidupan manusia yang menjadi perhatian pembahasan dalam karya ini. Wujudnya dalam bentuk audio visual tidak muncul begitu saja melainkan melalui beberapa tahap hingga akhirnya diterima dan dimaknai oleh penerima. Pembahasan kali ini membahas mengenai salah satu vlog Jokowi yang ditampilkan melalui Youtube dengan judul “Jalan Pagi Bareng Jan Ethes” yang diunggah pada 21 September 2019, yang menarik perhatian adalah waktu pengunggahan tayangan yang menggambarkan keakraban kakek dan cucu ketika Indonesia sedang diterpa isu negatif serta bencana. Pembahasan ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif analisis wacana kritis (critical discourse analysis) oleh Norman Fairclough. Proses wacana atau bahasa dianalisis menggunakan tiga tahap, yaitu mikrostruktur, mesostruktur, dan makrostruktur. Tahapan mikrostruktur mengutamakan produksi teks yang tergambarkan dalam representasi (visual dan audio), hubungan, dan identitas. Hal ini berlanjut membahas mengenai sosok yang ambil peran dan bagian dalam video tersebut, yang kemudian dibagi menjadi produksi, konsumsi, dan reproduksi teks. Memasuki tahapan akhir berupa unsur sosiokultural mengambil peran sehingga dilihat dari level situasional, institusional, dan sosial. Hasil yang didapatkan adalah produksi teks yang ada dalam #JKWVLOG ini merupakan bentukan yang dilakukan untuk memperlihatkan suatu ideologi dari objek pembahasan, yaitu Presiden Joko Widodo dalam audio visual yang terlihat, melalui media bantu Youtube yang merupakan platform terbesar digunakan oleh masyarakat. Ideologi pribadi, kepala keluarga, sekaligus sebagai sosok kepala negara yang ingin ditampilkan terwujud jelas dalam setiap teks di video, namun teralihkan dengan timing penggunggahan video yang kurang tepat, di tengah kemelut masalah yang sedang terjadi di Indonesia.

Abstract

This research reveals the significant role of Instagram social media in creating the hyperreality of Mie Gacoan through the foodstagramming phenomenon. With the significant growth of Instagram users, especially in Indonesia, this platform has become the main platform for foodies to capture and share their culinary experiences. The foodstagramming trend, especially related to Mie Gacoan, shows how food photos uploaded on social media can create certain hopes and expectations for the restaurant. In the era of hyperreality, food prioritizes appearance over taste, creating a false reality conveyed through information technology. With the influence of foodies as “creators of reality,” Instagram has become a powerful communication tool, changing the way society views and consumes food. This research highlights the complexity of the interaction between social media, hyperreality, and culinary trends developing in the digital era.

Abstract

Freire once revealed how education could liberate with the essence of "free"; truly "free". The existence of opportunities, challenges and demands continues to grow, especially for outsider students whose numbers continue to increase from year to year and need to be reviewed by the government. Through the MBKM, the government as the highest political society holder becomes an agent capable of making elements within it to submit and obey any policy made. The objective of the research is to explore the MBKM program that is proposed as a way out of the educational problem that has long been considered not to be able to meet the needs of the post-graduate student industry and titles as a Bachelor's. The goal of the researchers is to critically uncover and analyze the intellectual agents in the education system that dominate the element of the College through the practice of MBKM. The research method uses qualitative descriptive methods by borrowing the concept of Gramsci that produces descriptive data in the form of written and oral words of people and observable behavior. The results of the research show that the MBKM is an extension of the political practice of the state that is playing its role of power. MBKM is a neo-liberalization of education because the role of the state is increasingly diminishing and replacing with the private role. Students are no longer expected to contribute to the self-development or intellectuality of the nation, but what is important is to serve the private.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji peran habitus, arena, dan modal dalam interaksi pengguna aplikasi kencan Bumble melalui perspektif Pierre Bourdieu. Habitus adalah disposisi internal yang dibentuk oleh latar belakang sosial dan pengalaman hidup. Arena adalah ruang sosial tempat interaksi terjadi, sementara modal mencakup sumber daya sosial, kultural, ekonomi, dan simbolik. Menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan paradigma kritis, penelitian ini mengeksplorasi pengalaman pengguna Bumble, terutama dalam konteks feminisme dan teknologi, dengan data dari wawancara mendalam dan analisis konten profil serta percakapan dalam aplikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengguna memanfaatkan modal sosial dan kultural untuk berinteraksi dalam arena Bumble. Modal sosial, seperti jaringan pertemanan, membantu pengguna membangun profil menarik dan meningkatkan interaksi. Modal kultural, seperti pengetahuan dan keterampilan, berperan penting dalam cara pengguna berkomunikasi dan menyajikan diri. Interaksi dalam Bumble dipengaruhi oleh habitus masing-masing pengguna, mencerminkan preferensi, strategi, dan gaya komunikasi yang dipengaruhi oleh latar belakang sosial dan pengalaman teknologi sebelumnya.Penelitian ini memberikan wawasan penting tentang dinamika sosial dalam teknologi kencan dan implikasinya terhadap pendidikan kewarganegaraan, terutama dalam menekankan nilai-nilai kesetaraan gender dan kebebasan individu, membantu membentuk masyarakat yang lebih inklusif dan setara.

Abstract

The ability of politics and diplomacy becomes the main asset when talking about the state. The problem when human rights come against the law, will lead to a tendency to be take the side of the law, as opposed to giving unpleasant things to those who make mistakes. This not infrequently results in the death penalty which eventually (again) contradicts the Human Right to live properly and in protection. This condition occurs in migrant workers who work in several countries in Asia. They were accused of mistakes that incidentally have not been proven but immediately get a death sentence. The best national ambassadors were assigned to conflict areas, succeeded in the mission of saving them. Consistency, innovation, and enrichment when diplomacy is equipped with the ability to read the situation is the key to the success of diplomats when rescuing. Indonesia's ability to maintain good relations with other countries finally deserves to be regarded as the peak of achievement.

Abstract

Media digital memiliki hubungan yang erat dengan pekerja media yang seringkali mereka dipaksa untuk memproduksi konten dalam waktu singkat. Di satu sisi, media digital memberikan peluang bagi pekerja media namun komodifikasi terhadap pekerja bersifat merugikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami dinamika komodifikasi pekerja media yang terjadi di Medio by KG Media. Dalam penelitian ini, asisten produser merupakan elemen kunci dalam memastikan kelancaran produksi podcast. Namun kenyataannya, mereka sering terabaikan dan dipersepsikan sebagai komoditas dalam produksi ini. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi partisipan. Dan wawancara semi terstruktur kepada para produser, assisten produser, dan para pemangku yang berkepentingan terkait rencana dan implementasi produksi dan komunikasi internal organisasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adanya pekerjaan yang melampaui dari kapasitas diri seorang asisten produser. Pada asisten produser seringkali mengalami komodifikasi diperlakukan sebagai pekerja tambahan yang bertanggung jawab atas pekerjaan administratif dan teknis yang berdampak negatif pada motivasi dan produktivitas asisten produser.
