<![CDATA[Waiting for Godot and Endgame by Samuel Beckett are two of the most famous absurd plays of the 20th century. Some previous analyses have been dealing a great deal with the philosophy of the absurd and the socio-economic critique in the works. This article tries to give a new view examined from the standpoint of the psychology of the author and through the theory of psychoanalysis of Sigmund Freud. Concepts that are used are Freudian slips, as well as symbols and free associations. This article will explore the relationship between the author’s past with his works and the ways in which the author reflects his latent desires into his work. In can be concluded that there is a common thread between the events in the author's past, and that they contribute to the author’s psychological disorders that are expressed in the two works.Keywords: Freud, Beckett, thanatos, psychobiography]]>

<![CDATA[Political discourse today is no longer dependent on the performance of the political elite; however, it has shifted to active participation of their supporters. This phenomenon is widely recorded in social media as the background event. Without exception to Jakarta’s 2017 Gubernatorial Election that received an international spotlight because the roar is so massive in the universe of cyberspace. This qualitative descriptive study examined the pattern of campaign movements as a political discourse conducted by the public in supporters community account as a form of public participation in the politics of free-active democracy. It aimed to map out the pattern of discourse movements arising from the supporter community accounts of one of the candidate through the perspective of the discourse comparison offered by Sawirman (2014). The findings show that there are three supporting accounts of candidates which posited as primary, secondary and tertiary discourse. For the configuration of the discourse, gradable adjectives are used as a linguistic strategy to weaken and to dispel sympathy for opposing factions. It is based on the spirit that speakers are superior to their rivals. In general, the pattern of discourse movements identified is synergistic and mutual in order to demonstrate the superiority of their group by degrading the opposing side.]]>

<![CDATA[Ada sebuah kecenderungan dari sebagian penyair kontemporer untuk mempublikasikan sajak-sajak mereka melalui media sosial berbasis aplikasi Instagram (atau Insta-poetry). Hal ini kemudian berkembang menjadi tren dan membentuk fenomena baru dalam dunia kesusastraan khususnya genre puisi. Kehadiran Insta-poetry kemudian mengundang perdebatan dan polemik dalam kritik sastra terkini. Beberapa kritikus meragukan kualitas dari puisi instagram yang populer ini, terutama menyangkut kualitas craftmanship dan intellectualism. Oleh sebab di atas, maka penelaahan terhadap aspek-apek kesusastraan (literary device) sangat diperlukan untuk menjawab polemik di atas. Buku kumpulan puisi Love and Misadventure (2014) kemudian dijadikan objek material dalam penelitian ini. Dengan menggunakan kritik formalisme yang berfokuskan kepada majas/gaya bahasa metafora, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa karya Leav masih memanfaatkan majas metafora dalam beberapa tingkatan. Leav juga melakukan serangkaian inovasi dalam pendayagunaan metafora yang mana disesuaikan dengan semangat zaman agar karyanya dapat diterima oleh masyarakat luas.]]>

<![CDATA[Being a mother is the most exclusive experience that only women experience. For centuries, women were forced to accept the dogma that motherhood is a wonderful experience. Silvia Plath, one of the female poets who dared to express her original experience of being a mother without having to follow the language of patriarchal literature. The Gynocritic approach is applied because it places the female voice as the single most original voice for the experience of motherhood without patriarchal interference. Several selected poems at the end of life from Silvia Plath were used as a source of research data. Research findings show that Plath had considerable difficulty in adapting to being a mother. Whatever experience Plath has, or any mother, is an exclusive wealth that should only be owned and shared by women.]]>

<![CDATA[Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk (a) menyajikan deskripsi naskah teks Hikayat Wasiat Luqman al-Hakim, (b) menyajikan bentuk alih aksara teks Hikayat Wasiat Luqman al-Hakim, (c) menyajikan bentuk alih bahasa teks Hikayat Wasiat Luqman al-Hakim. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian filologi. Objek penelitian ini adalah naskah Hikayat Wasiat Luqman al-Hakim. Metode penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian filologi yang disesuaikan dengan tahapan penelitian dan metode deskriptif. Pada tahap pengumpulan data menggunakan metode studi pustaka, pada tahap deskripsi naskah digunakan metode deskriptif, tahap alih aksara menggunakan metode alih aksara, tahap alih bahasa menggunakan metode alih bahasa. Hasil penelitian ini adalah (1) deskripsi naskah Hikayat Wasiat Luqman al-Hakim, (2) alih aksara teks dilakukan dari bahasa Arab-Melayu ke dalam bahasa Latin, (3) alih bahasa teks dilakukan dari bahasa Melayu ke bahasa Indonesia yang disesuaikan dengan Ejaan Bahasa Indonesia (EBI). Naskah Hikayat Wasiat Luqman al-Hakim berisi penjelasan tentang seorang hamba Allah bernama Luqman al-Hakim yang mendapatkan hikmah dari Allah yaitu kesempurnaan diri dengan ilmu pengetahuan yang dimiliki dan selalu mengedepankan hal-hal yang utama. Luqman al-Hakim menyampaikan hikmah tersebut dalam bentuk nasihat-nasihat kepada anaknya.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims to describe, translate and translate the classic manuscript text entitled Hikayat Maharaja Ali. This research is included in philological research because it aims to understand the texts of ancient manuscripts and thus allow further interpretation and use of these texts based on this understanding. The object of philological research is ancient texts and manuscripts. The method used is the philological method based on the phylological research stages. At the data collection stage, the literature study method was used; descriptive method is used at the description stage of the manuscript; at the script transfer stage, the script transfer method is used; at the translation stage, the translation method is used. The result of the research is a description of information about the Hikayat Maharaja Ali manuscript, the transcription form of the Hikayat Maharaja Ali script in Latin script, and the translation form of the Hikayat Maharaja Ali script in Indonesian.]]>

<![CDATA[Minangkabau-language pantuns are rare to find in today's modern times. Therefore, preservation efforts are needed through cultural documentation and research on oral literature. This study aims to describe the structure and social functions of pantun in Minangkabau language. This research belongs to literary research, especially oral literature. The data of this study are the utterances of Minangkabau pantuns contained in Minangkabau cultural wedding ceremonies which were collected through structured interviews with pantuns’ speakers. The results of this study are: (1) the structure of the pantun in wedding ceremonies in West Pasaman Regency, divided into physical and mental structures and; (2) the social function of pantuns in Minangkabau weddings includes (a) a means of communication, (b) identity of the Minangkabau people, (c) decoration of the oral tradition of the Minangkabau people, (d) a means of preaching, (e) a means of educating.]]>

<![CDATA[Even though they are in the modern era, women in various parts of the world are still constrained by various shackles and it is difficult to show their existence. Literary works then become a platform for women to liberate themselves and emphasize their existence even though only symbolically. This study aims to describe the strategies, causes, and impacts of the existence of women in the novel Catatan Juang by Fiersa Besari based on the feminist existentialist study of Simone de Beauvoir. This research is a qualitative research with a library-based study. The analysis was carried out using the content analysis method. The results of this study can be conveyed as follows; (1) there are four strategies for the existence of women in the form of strategies, intellectual women, working women, social transformation women, and independent women, (2) the causes of the emergence of women's existence strategies, among others; social concerns, economic status, and thinking towards change.]]>

<![CDATA[Profesi Guru sudah ada semenjak Indonesia merdeka. Selama itu, guru identik dengan pendidik yang berfokus pada pengajaran, pembimbingan, motivasi dan evaluasi kepada siswa. Saat ini, seorang guru profesional diwajibkan untuk menghasilkan publikasi ilmiah baik dalam bentuk buku, artikel maupun makalah yang didiseminasikan dalam forum ilmiah. Tidak sedikit dari guru menghindari dan menyepelekan kegiatan menulis ilmiah ini sehingga kuantitas dan kualitas tulisan ilmiah yang dihasilkan guru masih jauh dari harapan. Hal ini secara tidak langsung menggangu proses perbaikan kualitas guru, kualitas sekolah hingga kesejahteraan dari guru itu sendiri. Makalah ini bertujuan untuk mendiskusikan keengganan guru sekolah dasar dalam menulis ilmiah berdasarkan data yang dikumpulkan selama kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat di kota Solok. Hal ini diharapkan menjadi catatan penting bagi perguruan tinggi, pemerintah daerah dan kementerian untuk bersama-sama mengevaluasi kesulitan yang dialami guru untuk didapatkan solusi di masa mendatang.]]>
