Abstract

Abstract

The research background can be seen from the curriculum which continues to experience changes as a result of the very rapid progress of the times, especially in the Indonesian education system which must be in harmony with the values of Pancasila, namely, in order to develop oneself in terms of abilities, skills, ethics and morals. In research reports, the authors apply qualitative research methods that use literature library research (literature study) where researchers take secondary data sources to collect related information about subjects and issues with data analysis techniques from the Miles and Huberman model, namely using qualitative data analysis. In the national education system, Pancasila values are nationally placed as a guideline for achieving educational goals, the system that refers to the implementation components is the 1945 Constitution and Pancasila which is used as the foundation of the state education system. As a consequence of improvements related to the addition of the previous curriculum, instructions for implementing the Merdeka Curriculumwere given as part of learning recovery (recovery of learning), as stated in Kemendikbudristek Decree No. 56 of 202. Based on this, the author tries to provide additional knowledge about the current education system which implements Pancasila values in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum. Merdeka Learning must be able to liberate students, educators, and educational institutions in a more effective system to advance the quality of education in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study evaluates the prevalence of Lower Order Thinking Skills (LOTS) and Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) questions in Indonesian History textbooks for twelfth-grade students. Utilizing a quantitative research methodology, the study analyzes the first-semester evaluation questions from textbooks published by the Ministry of Education and Culture, Erlangga, and Grafindo. Employing descriptive statistical techniques, the analysis reveals distinct disparities in the balance of LOTS and HOTS questions. Specifically, the Erlangga textbook contains 82.6% LOTS and 17.4% HOTS questions, while the Grafindo textbook shows a distribution of 96.7% LOTS and 3.3% HOTS questions. Furthermore, a comparative assessment of descriptive questions shows that the Ministry of Education and Culture’s textbook exhibits a ratio of 38.9% LOTS to 61.2% HOTS, Erlangga has 73.4% LOTS to 26.6% HOTS, and Grafindo features 90% LOTS to 10% HOTS. The findings indicate a significant underrepresentation of HOTS-based questions in the analyzed textbooks, suggesting a potential gap in fostering higher-level cognitive skills among students.

Abstract

Abstract

The spread of Islam on Sumatra Island originated in coastal regions before expanding into the hinterlands. Utilizing a historical approach, this study reveals that maritime trade routes served as the gateway for traders and missionaries from Arabia, Persia, and Gujarat to engage in commerce and dawah across Sumatra. Islam initially flourished in Barus, Samudera Pasai, and Aceh before eventually expanding into the interior through river networks, intermarriage, and the political influence of the sultanates. The findings of this study indicate that the process of Islamization in Sumatra was not uniform; in coastal areas, Islam tended to be more Cosmopolitan, whereas in the interior, cultural acculturation with local traditions occurred. The success of this expansion marked the starting point of a religious transformation across the Indonesian archipelago
