Abstract

The objective of the research was to obtain the rubber compound formulation with nano sulfur application in vulcanization process to produce vechicle rubber compound that will fulfill the standard specification. The experiment held by crushing the sulphr to covert intonano size through mechanical milling. Nano Sulphur were characterized with XRD method (X-RAY Difraction) and SEM method (Scanning Eletronical magnetic). The steps for making the rubber compound are mastication/milling the rubber and mixing with other supporting chemicals (activator, filler, softener, antioxidant, resin, accelerator) using the open mill, continued with vulcanization processwhich using nano sulphur as the vulcanization agent untilthe rubber compound ready to be molded.the experimental research used factorial completely  randomized design with two factor as treatments, and each combination was replicated for three time. The first factor is the variation of vulcanization temperature (140 ˚C and 170˚C) and the second factor is the variation of suphur size (40nm,60nm,80nm, and 400nm). Tested parameters are modulus,elongation at break ,tear strength and density of rubber compound from the vehicle. The result showed that the variation of vulcanization elongation at break ,tear strength ,and density of rubber compound of the vehicle. The best treatment is obtained in temperature variation 140˚C and sulfur size 60nm (T1S2),with compound rubber characteristic of vehicle for modulus 108N/cm2,elongation at break 565% tear strength 90 kg/cm2, and density 1,220g/cm2.

Abstract

Salah satu bahan galian yang bisa dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan pengisi untuk vulkanisat karet adalah pasir kuarsa, dengan kandungan kristal-kristal silika (SiO2).  Tujuan penelitian ini untuk melihat efek coupling agent (CA) Si69 terhadap vulkanisat karet alam dengan filler silika pasir kuarsa.  Formulasi vulkanisat karet dengan variasi jumlah CA Si69, yaitu 2, 3 dan 4 phr dan jumlah sulfur 10, 20 dan 30 phr, setiap percobaan diulang 3 (tiga) kali.  Sifat mekanik vulkanisat meliputi kuat tarik, perpanjangan putus, kekerasan dan berat jenis.   Penambahan coupling agent CA Si69 cenderung meningkatkan tegangan putus, perpanjangan putus dan berat jenis kompon karet hingga mencapai nilai optimum pada muatan silika pasir kuarsa 40 phr, sedangkan kekerasan semakin meningkat dengan meningkatnya CA Si69 dan muatan silika pasir kuarsa.  Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa silika pasir kuarsa dari limbah industri pengolahan pertambangan timah dapat digunakan sebagai bahan pengisi alternatif yang ekonomis dalam pembuatan vulkanisat karet.

Abstract

The research aimed to study the effect of temperature and Hydrocxilamin Netral Sulphat (HNS)  to characteristics of vulcanization wiper blade. Temperature vulcanization used for the research was varied at 130 oC, 150 oC, 170 oC and Hydrocxilamin Netral Sulphat (HNS) at 5 phr, 10 phr. The result show that the effect temperature of vulcanization and Hydrocxilamin Netral Sulphat (HNS) consentration had significant effect on the scorch time (ts2), optimum cure time (t90), vulcanization rate, and modulus torsi (t) rubber compound wiper blade. The best treatment was found to be the T2H2(the addition of temperature 150 oC and HNS 10 phr) with characteristic of vulcanization wiper blade compound of 2,25 minute for the scorch time, 4 minute for the optimum cure time, 12, 12 minute for the vulcanization rate and 82kg.cm for the torcy modulus.

Abstract

In terms of enhance thermal ageing resistance of natural rubber (NR)  based products, it is common to blend NR with styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) to produce binary blends with higher thermal properties. However, reinforcement filler such as carbon black (CB) commonly added to improve physcomechanical properties of the blends. Thus, this present study investigated the effect of CB composition in SBR/NR binary blending towards its thermal ageing resistance and organic solvent resistance. CB was compounded 35 up to 75 phr into SBR/NR (50/50 phr), the standard procedure ASTM D-3182 was applied. The result show that hardness value increase significantly due to the higher addition CB. Conversely, the higher CB composition in SBR/NR binary blends cause quite significant the decreasing value of tensile strength and elongation at break. The effect of thermal aging properties was observed at dry air circulation at 70 oC for 48 hours. It is found that thermo-oxidative ageing cause a serious damage on the surface  as well as decrease the hardness, tensile strength and elongation at break of the rubber vulcanizates. However, the effect of CB addition towards the decreasing value of those properties could not be seen clearly. In addition, toluene immersion for 24 hours cause the mass loss up to about 5% weight of the NR/SBR binary blends, whereas iso-octane and n-hexane immersion cause slight mass changes only approximately 0,1 % weight.

Abstract

Carbon black merupakan bahan pengisi penguat yang digunakan dalam pembuatan barang karet. Beberapa kelemahannya diantaranya ketersediaan dan harga carbon black yang cukup tinggi apabila digunakan pada produk Kompon karet. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mempelajari penggunaan arang cangkang kemiri sebagai penganti carbon black, sehingga didapatkan data teknis kualitas Kompon karet berdasarkan perbandingan penggunaan carbon black (CB) dan arang cangkang kemiri (ACK). Penelitian dilakukan dengan memvariasikan ACK: CB yaitu :45 phr; 15:30 phr; 22,5:22,5 phr ; 30:15 phr dan 45:0 phr. Pembuatan kompon karet pada penelitian ini  menggunakan karet alam SIR tanpa ada tambahan karet sintetis. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian didapatkan nilai kekerasan 55-71 Shore A; Tegangan putus 1.8-10.3 MPa; Perpanjangan Putus 160-370 % dan perubahan sifat kekerasan, tegangan putus MPa, dan perpanjangan tidak signifikan setelah dilakukan pengsangan pada 70 oC selama 24 jam. Berdasarkan hal tersebut dapat direkomendasikan bahwa ACK berpotensi digunakan sebagai filler non reinforcing alternative pada pembuatan kompon karet alam.

Abstract

The research aimed to know the effects of epoxide rubber seed oil and reinforcing filler on characteristics of rubber compound. Reinforcing filler type used carbon black and silica. The experiment was designed into three formulas, such as Formula I (exposide rubber seed oil 5 phr and without filler), Formula II (epoxide rubber seed oil 5 phr and carbon black 40 phr), Formula III (rubber seed oil 5 phr and silica 40 phr). The result show that the addition of exposide rubber seed oil, carbon black and silica had significant effect on the hardness, tensile strength, modulus 300% and abration resistence,  The best treatment was found to be the Formula II (epoxide rubber seed oil 5 phr and carbon black 40 phr) with the rubber compound’s charasteristics of 70 shore A for hardness, 250,5 kg/cm2 for tensile strength, 102 kg/cm2 for modulus 300% and 128,7 kg/cm2 for abration resistence.

Abstract

The research aimed to obtained gambir optimal cosentration as natural antioxidant and self life cookind oil production. Gambir latex thich was extracted from gambir leaf (Uncaria gambir Roxb) was used in the experiment . the experiment was designedas factorial compeletely randomized design with two factors as treatments, and each combination of gamir antioxidant (1%,2%and 3%), and the second factor was long of storage (7 days,24days,21,days,28day,35days, dand 42days). The result showed that the addition of antioxidant gambir, long of storage and its interaction had significant effect on the peroxide value fat tree acid level and moisture content. The treatment of A2 (gambir consentration 2%) with long of storage 42 days (treatment B6) effective more that gambir consentrations 1%and 3% (treatment A1 and A3) with cooking oil of quality characterstics of 1,6 meq/kg for peroxide value, 0,32% for fatfree aced level , and 0,28% mosture content. The self life of cooking oil by gambir antioxidant is 42 days.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari filler dengan memanfaatkan bambu bekas pada pembuatan produk karet roll conveyor. Tahapan penelitian ini antara lain : pembuatan arang bambu, pembuatan vulkanisat karet dengan memvariasikan konsentrasi arang bambu yaitu formula A = 0 phr, formula B = 20 phr, formula C = 40 phr, formula D = 60 phr dan formula E = 80 phr. Berdasarkan pengujian karakteristik vulkanisat diperoleh hasil uji vulkanisat karet dengan perlakuan terbaik didapat pada formula B (Variasi konsentrasi arang bambu 20 phr dan carbon black 80 phr, dengan nilai hasil uji yaitu uji visual tidak ada cacat, kekerasan 80 shore A, tegangan putus 11,8 MPa, perpanjangan putus 130% dan ketahanan sobek 27,2 kN/m. Hasil uji untuk variasi lain tidak berbeda signifikan, dengan demikian, penggunaan arang bambu dapat digunakan sebagai substitusi carbon black.

Abstract

The objectives research is to examines the effect of temperature and storage time to characteristics ofrubber compoundthat was added with the fillers of activated coconut shell carbon and nano silica from rice husks. Rubber compound in this study is the use of a filler treatment activated coconut shell carbon 10 phr and nano silica from rice husks 40 phr. Experimental design include variations in temperature 60°C, 70°C and 80°C and storage time 1 day, 3 days, 5 days and 7 days, with three (3 ) repetition. The results showed temperature and storage time affects the characteristics of the rubber compound rubber compound , for the parameters of hardness , tensile strength , elongation at break and abrasion resistance. Characteristics rubber compound for hardness, tensile strength, elongation at break after ageing met the requirements of the Indonesian National Standards for pads dock rubber compound SNI06-3568-2006. Kompon karet yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini bahan pengisi dari arang aktif tempurung kelapa 10 phr dan nano silika sekam padi 40 phr. Rancangan percobaan meliputi variasi suhu 60°C, 70°C dan 80°C dan lama penyimpanan kompon karet, yaitu 1 hari, 3 hari, 5 hari dan 7 hari. Percobaan dilakukan pengulangan sebanyak 3 (tiga) kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan suhu dan lama penyimpanan kompon karet berpengaruh terhadap karakteristik kompon karet, pada parameter kekerasan, tegangan putus, perpanjangan putus dan ketahanan kikis. Karakteristik kompon karet untuk kekerasan, tegangan putus dan perpanjangan putus setelah pengusangan untuk semua perlakuan memenuhi syarat mutu kompon karet bantalan dermaga, sesuai SNI06-3568-2006. Ketahanan kikis untuk semua perlakuan kompon karet setelah pengusangan memenuhi karakteristik kompon karet di pasaran, kisaran 400 – 600 cm3.Kata kunci : karakteristik kompon karet, lama penyimpanan, suhu

Abstract

The research aimed to get the best formulation of tire compound motorcycle productions with used silica carbida nano composite as filler to meet the specifications of the market. The experiment was designed as Factorial Randomized Completely Design with two factors as treatments, and each combination of the treatment was gone through trials for three times. The first factor was the particle size of silica carbida nanocomposite (40-60 nm, 80-100 nm and 100 mesh (without nano particle size) and the second factor was vulcanization time (30 minute and 40 minute). The parameters were hardness, tensile strength, elongation at break, abrasive resistance and ageing resistance. The results showed that combination of particle size silica carbida nano composite and vulcanization time had significant effects on the hardness, tensile strength, elongation at break, abrasive resistance and ageing resistance. The best treatment is a combination of treatments P2W1 (silica carbide particle size 80 nm-100 nm and vulcanization time 30 min) as well as meets the specifications of the market with the characteristics of rubber compounds include hardness 56 Shore A, tensile strength 145 kg/cm2, DIN mm 240 abrasive resitance, and aging resistance to hardness 57 Shore A, tensile strength to 140 kg/cm2.Keywords : Silica carbida nano composite, tire of compound motorcycle, vulcanization timeAbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan formulasi yang tepat dalam pembuatan kompon untuk ban dalam kendaraan bermotor roda dua dengan menggunakan nanokomposit silika karbida sebagai bahan pengisi, sehingga mempunyai spesifikasi kompon ban dalam kendaraan bermotor roda dua sesuai spesifikasi yang ada di pasaran. Rancangan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 2 (dua) faktor, yaitu ukuran partikel nanokomposit silika karbida (Ukuran partikel 40-60 nm, ukuran partikel 80-100 nm dan ukuran partikel 100 mesh (tanpa ukuran nano) dan waktu vulkanisasi (30 menit dan 40 menit), dengan 3 (tiga) kali ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kombinasi ukuran nano komposit silika karbida dan waktu vulkanisasi berpengaruh nyata terhadap sifat fisik kompon karet yaitu kekerasan, tegangan putus, ketahanan kikis dan ketahanan usang kompon ban dalam kendaraan bermotor roda dua. Perlakuan terbaik adalah kombinasi perlakuan P2W1 (ukuran partikel nano komposit silika karbida kisaran 80-100 nm dan waktu vulkanisasi 30 menit) dan memenuhi spesifikasi pasaran dengan karakteristik kompon karet meliputi, kekerasan 56 Shore A, tegangan putus 145 kg/cm2, ketahanan kikis 240 DIN mm, ketahanan usang untuk kekerasan 57 Shore A, tegangan putus 140 kg/cm2.Kata kunci : Kompon ban dalam kendaraan bermotor roda dua, nano komposit silika karbida, waktu vulkanisasi
