Abstract

[The Correlation Between Leukopenia and The Severity of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever in Paediatric Patients of RSUD Wangaya Denpasar from January 2021-August 2021] Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is one of the most concerning diseases to look out for each year especially on paediatric patients because pediatric patients are more susceptible to severe dengue infection. This is presumably because the microvasculature in children is more prone to plasma leakage. To measure the severity of DHF, a classification by World Health Organization (WHO) in 2011 is used mainly as the standards. This study aims to determine the relationship between leukopenia and the severity of dengue fever in children treated at Wangaya Regional Hospital, Denpasar. The methods this study used is an observational analytic method with cross sectional study by using medical reports as secondary data from January-August 2021 in RSUD Wangaya Denpasar. Subjects are obtained by consecutive sampling with 92 subjects. This study used chi-square analysis (x2) with 95% confidence interval (CI) and P-value of 5%. Data was analyzed using univariate and bivariate model through Statistical Package for the Social Sciences for Windows. The results of this study indicates that the number of subjects with non-shock hemorrhagic dengue fever which is 68.5% appears to be greater than subjects with shock dengue hemorrhagic fever which is 31.5%. The average leukocyte level in the subjects obtained was still in the normal range, namely 4,803 µL. Chi square (x2) distribution table analysis (p=0,092), there is no significant correlation between the leukopenia with the severity of dengue hemorrhagic fever in paediatric patients of RSUD Wangaya Denpasar.

Abstract

Tabanan Regency is one of the areas in Bali Province with a high case of diarrhea in children under five years old. The incidence of diarrhea in children is influenced by three risk factors: environmental, sociodemographic, and behavioral. This study aims to determine the characteristics of diarrhea in children under five who are treated at Tabanan Hospital in 2020 – 2021. This study uses a descriptive method with a cross-sectional design that uses secondary data from the hospital’s medical records. The subjects of this study were toddlers with diarrhea who were hospitalized at Tabanan General Hospital from 2020 – 2021. Sampling used a total sampling technique. The number of samples in this study was 55 toddlers. Data analysis in this study is univariate analysis. The results showed that the highest incidence of diarrhea occurred in the age group 1 – 12 months (45.5%), male (56.4%), and had normal nutritional status (96.4%). All toddlers had acute diarrhea (100%), mild-moderate dehydration (81.8%), most of them experienced diarrhea caused by an infectious process (81.8%), and as many as (69.1%) received antibiotics. The incidence of hypernatremia was 5.5%, and the remainder without complications, The length of treatment was primarily 1-3 days (56.4%).

Abstract

Febrile seizures are common emergency case of children between 6 months-5 years. During 2021 this cases is the most common pediatric diseases in RSUD Tabanan. Risk factors for febrile seizures in the hospitals have not been studied. This research aims to identify the characteristics of febrile seizures. This descriptive study used cross-sectional design with 145 samples selected by total sampling. Data were obtained from medical records of pediatric hospitalized in 2021-2022. The frequency distribution analysis used SPSS 25. According this study showed that febrile seizures mostly occurred in children aged 6-24 months (75.9%), predominantly in boys (62.8%) with a temperature of 38-40°C (95.2%). The most common diagnosis was simple febrile seizures (95.9%), with duration <15 minutes (95.9%), no family history of seizures (87.6%), and without recurrence (76.6%). The most common comorbid disease was acute respiratory infection (62.8%), while the lowest non-infectious disease was diabetes (0.7%). Hemoglobin and leukocyte levels were within the normal range, namely 54.5% and 75.9%. Most patients had nutritional status except good nutritional status (40.7%), did not get exclusive breastfeeding (26.9%), and had length of stay ≥3 days (82.1%). It can be concluded that febrile seizures mostly occur in boys aged 6-24 months with a temperature of 38-40°C, SFZ <15 minutes in duration is more frequent, without a history of recurrence. This seizure is commonly accompanied by ARI with normal hemoglobin and leukocyte levels. Most patients have nutritional status except good nutritional status, do not get exclusive breastfeeding, and have a length of stay ≥3 days.

Abstract

Abstract

[The Relationship between Breastfeeding and the Nutritional Status of Babies Aged 4-6 Months at UPT Public Health Sukawati I] Nutritional problems in Indonesia are a double burden, both due to deficiency and excess nutrition. Lack of nutrition at an early age can lead to impaired child development. Efforts have been made to overcome nutritional problems, one of which is through exclusive breastfeeding. Data in Gianyar Regency shows that the scope of exclusive breastfeeding has increased but is not accompanied by a significant decrease in cases of malnutrition and malnutrition. This study aims to find out the correlation of breastfeeding on the nutritional status of infants aged 4-6 months at UPT Kesmas Sukawati I. This research is an analytic observational study applying a cross sectional research design carried out in January-June 2021, with a sample of 68 infants. The sample was selected using the consecutive sampling method, which is a sample selection according to inclusion and exclusion requirements. The research data was then analyzed with univariate and bivariate analysis. The bivariate test used was the chi-square test and fisher's exact test aimed at finding the correlation of two categorical-scale variables. p <0.05 indicates a significant correlation between the two variables. The results showed that there was a significant correlation between breastfeeding and poor nutritional status (p=0.000) and good-over-nutrition status (p=0.043), there was no significant correlation between breastfeeding and less-than-good nutritional status (p= 0.137). In conclusion, there is a significant correlation between breastfeeding for undernourished, well-nourished and good-nourished and over-nourished infants aged 4-6 months.
