Abstract

The ethnography writing was completely based on field (empiric) data. Anthropologist always holds on the present events. This article constitutes a beginning effort to design ethnography writing method using one genre or style in literature. Formerly, ethnography held on bourgeois realism. The writer changes realism in ethnography which doesn’t seem potential and objective with militant social realism literature. The writer labels it “liberation ethnography “. This article just takes a genre spirit of realism-socialist literature as “contrasting literature” to become “liberation ethnography” or “ethnography as a liberation movement”. The birth of anthropology with ethnography as its textual product represents the son of imperialist and colonialist. Along with the collapse of imperialist and colonialist, the awakening of ex-colonies to become new countries, entering post colonial era and global culture, the disorder of culture, the appearance of sub culture and counter culture, the foundation of anthropology becomes porous. The purpose of ethnography writing needs to be reviewed because there is an interest to write ethnography as a politi cal practice. Key words: Ethnography, Social Realism Literary, Liberation Ethnography

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini mengkaji penggambaran perempuan dalam film menggunakan teori objektifikasi. Penelitian ini pada dasarnya menganalisis dua film, I Spit on Your Grave dan Marlina si Pembunuh Empat Babak. Tujuannya untuk mengetahui bagaimana film menggambarkan perempuan, terutama dalam konteks budaya. Melalui metode penelitian kualitatif, teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah analisis semiotika. Penulis menganalisis dan mengkritik adegan kedua film tersebut sehubungan dengan bahasa yang digunakan, tempat adegan film berlangsung, dan detail kecil lainnya seperti bagaimana sutradara menarasikan dan mengartikulasikan berbagai peristiwa, serta adegan dengan simbol budaya yang berbeda. Temuan tersebut menunjukkan bahwa perempuan mendapat liputan negatif. Asosiasi stereotip yang konsisten dengan simbol seksual, ketidakberdayaan, dan ketidakberdayaan menandai representasi wanita dalam film-film ini. Representasi tersebut berbeda-beda menurut latar belakang budayanya. Kata kunci: Film, Wanita, Objektifikasi   Abstract: This research is concerned with film’s portrayal of women in the context of Objectification Theory. This research paper is basically analyses of two films, I Spit on Your Grave and Marlina Si Pembunuh Empat Babak. It consists the analysis of these movies to find out how film portrays women, especially in cultural context. Through the qualitative research method, the analysis technique in use is semiotics analysis.  I analyzed and criticized the two movies’ scenes with regard to the language they used, the places where the scenes of movies took place and other minor details such as how the directors narrated and articulated different events and scenes with different cultural symbols. The findings indicate that women received negative coverage. A consistent stereotyped association with sexual symbol, helplessness and voicelessness marks the representations of women in these movies. These representations are different according to their cultural background. Keywords: Film, Women, Objectification

Abstract

Abstrak: Permasalahan penelitian ini ialah bagaimana bentuk interaksi sosial dan strategi adaptasi perajin gerabah dalam mempertahankan teknik tradisional di tengah berbagai kendala yang ada di RT 03 RW 02 Dukuh Krajan, Desa Gebangsari, Kec. Klirong, Kebumen. Tujuan penelitian adalah menjelaskan bentuk interaksi sosial dan strategi adaptasi perajin gerabah dalam upaya mempertahankan kelestarian pembuatan kerajinan gerabah tradisional menurut struktural fungsional AGIL. Manfaat teoretisnya adalah mengembangkan penelitian antropologi ekonomi tentang tingkah laku kolektif manusia dalam analisis AGIL. Manfaat praktisya berupa pemecahan masalah yang ada sebagai bahan pertimbangan strategis dalam suatu kebijakan. Metode penelitian adalah kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui studi pustaka, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Populasi penelitian adalah perajin gerabah di RT 03 RW 02 Dukuh Krajan Desa Gebangsari. Variabel penelitian meliputi interaksi sosial dan strategi adaptasi. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa interaksi sosial yang terjalin di antara para perajin membangun hubungan yang positif dengan cara saling bekerja sama dan bergotong royong dalam memenuhi kebutuhan produksi gerabah. Perajin gerabah beradaptasi dalam menghadapi segala tantangan, kendala, dan peluang dalam rangka mempertahankan teknik tradisional cara pembuatan gerabah. Kata kunci: perajin gerabah, interaksi sosial, adaptasi   Abstract: The subject addressed in this study is how pottery craftsmen in RT 03 RW 02 Dukuh Krajan, Gebangsari Village, Klirong District, Kebumen, use social interaction and adaptation strategies to sustain traditional techniques in the face of numerous challenges. The purpose of this research is to explain about the different types of social interaction and adaption tactics used by pottery artists in order to keep traditional pottery manufacture alive and well according to AGIL's functional structure. The theoretical value of AGIL analysis is the development of economic anthropological research on human collective behavior. The practical benefits come in the form of existing problems being solved as strategic policy concerns. The research method is qualitative approach to data collecting, which includes literature reviews, interviews, and documentation. The research population is pottery craftsmen in RT 03 and RW 02, Dukuh Krajan, Gebangsari Village. Research variables include social interaction and adaptation strategies. The results of the study found that the social interactions that existed between the craftsmen built positive relationships by working together and working together to meet the needs of pottery production. Pottery craftsmen adapt in the face of all challenges, obstacles, and opportunities in order to maintain the traditional techniques of pottery making. Abstract

Abstrak: Permasalahan penelitian ini ialah bagaimana nilai-nilai etika hidup dalam webtoon tema kerajaan dapat memunculkan fungsi enkulturasi bagi pembacanya. Tujuan penelitian adalah menjelaskan webtoon tema kerajaan dapat menjadi media enkulturasi bagi pembacanya. Menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi partisipatif, wawancara, dokumentasi, serta studi pustaka. Menggunakan teori fungsionalisme Bronislaw Malinowski untuk menganalisis fungsi dari webtoon. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa webtoon memiliki fungsi tambahan yakni sebagai media enkulturasi. Kata Kunci: Webtoon, fungsi, enkulturasi, nilai-nilai etika hidup   Abstract: The problem of this research is how the ethical values of life in the royal theme webtoon can bring out the enculturation function for the readers. The purpose of this research is to explain that royal theme webtoon can be a medium of enculturation for its readers. Using qualitative research methods with data collection techniques in the form of participatory observation, interviews, documentation, and literature study. Using the functionalism theory of Bronislaw Malinowski to analyze the function of the webtoon. The results showed that the webtoon has an additional function, namely as an enculturation medium. Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini menjelaskan mengenai gejala meme yang terjadi pada refrain lirik humor lagu Nestapa (Hareudang) milik kelompok musik Pasukan Perang dari kota Bandung yang viral di beragam media sosial salah satunya media TikTok. Serta bagaimana gejala lirik tersebut bisa viral hingga menjadi bahan bercandaan Artis nasional dan menjadi bahan materi iklan salah satu obat nyamuk bakar VAPE. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif melalui pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik wawancara dan observasi pada media sosial TikTok dan Youtube. Hasil penelitian mengemukakan tentang 1) lirik lagu Nestapa (Hareudang) yang mengandung multitafsir bagi beberapa kalangan pendengar. 2) Respon masyarakat terhadap refrain lagu Nestapa (Hareudang) 3) Tafsir Pasukan Perang terhadap gejala meme yang muncul pada lirik refrain lagu Nestapa (Hareudang). Kata kunci: Meme, Tafsir, TikTok, Pasukan Perang. ABSTRACT This study explains the meme symptoms that occur in the humorous refrain of the song Nestapa (Hareudang) belonging to the Pasukan Perang music group from the city of Bandung which is viral on various social media, one of which is TikTok media. And how the symptoms of these lyrics can go viral to become a joke for national artists and become an advertisement material for one of the VAPE-fueled mosquito coils. This research was conducted with a qualitative descriptive method through data collection using interview and observation techniques on social media TikTok and Youtube. The results of the study suggest 1) the lyrics of the song Nestapa (Hareudang) which contain multiple interpretations for several listeners. 2) Community response to the refrain of Nestapa (Hareudang) 3) Pasukan Perang’s interpretation of the meme symptoms that appear in the chorus of Nestapa (Hareudang) song. Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini menjelaskan mengenai perjuangan yang dilakukan komunitas metal Ujungberung Rebels dalam melakukan suatu tindakan produksi diri nasyarakat sebagai suatu langkah melawan dominasi major label. Serta melihat peran indie label serta infrastruktur musik lainnya sebagai siasat yang dilakukan oleh komunitas metal Ujungberung Rebels dalam memperebutkan pangsa pasar musik dengan major label. Penelitian ini dilakukan melalui metode penelitian kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan metode wawancara serta observasi baik secara langsung ataupun melalui literatur serta media lainnya seperti film. Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu mengemukakan tentang 1) Perjuangan Ujungberung Rebels. 2) Siasat yang diluncurkan Ujungberung Rebels dalam melawan dominasi major label. Kata kunci: Ujungberung Rebels, Produksi-diri Masyarakat, Indie label, Do It Yourself ABSTRACT This research explains the struggles made by the Ujungberung Rebels metal community in carrying out an act of self-production as a step against the dominance of major labels. As well as seeing the role of indie labels and other music infrastructure as a strategy carried out by the Ujungberung Rebels metal community in fighting for music market share with major labels. This research was conducted through qualitative research methods with data collection techniques using interview and observation methods either directly or through literature and other media such as films. The result of this study is to bring up about 1) The Struggle of Ujungberung Rebels. 2) The tactics that The Rebels launched in countering the dominance of major labels. Abstract

ABSTRAK Penulisan ini mengangkat tentang fenomena populernya kembali musik lawas Indonesia 1977—1980, khususnya musik dari Gank Pegangsaan. Kelompok Alunan Nusantara sebagai agen yang berperan dalam mempopulerkan kembali musik lawas Indonesia menjadi objek dari Penulisan ini. Selanjutnya, kelompok ini disesuaikan dengan konsep habitus, disertai analisis berdasarkan teori nostalgia. Penulisan ini merupakan Penulisan kualitatif dengan metode observasi partisipasi, wawancara, dan studi pustaka. Penulisan ini menghasilkan simpulan bahwa: 1) Alunan Nusantara menularkan selera musik Indonesia 1977—1980 lewat konten instagram yang menarik, 2) orang tua dari masing- masing aktor Alunan Nusantara berperan penting dalam membagikan nostalgia, 3) musik Indonesia 1977—1980, yaitu Gank Pegangsaan, merupakan puncak kreativitas musik Indonesia. Hal ini dapat diketahui lewat syair dan aransemen musiknya yang berbeda dari musik Indonesia pada umumnya saat itu serta banyak terpengaruh dari elemen musik rok progresif. Hal inilah yang menjadi daya tarik bagi aktor Alunan Nusantara. Kata kunci: Alunan Nusantara, Nostalgia, Selera Musik, Rok Progresif, Habitus Selera ABSTRACT This research talks about the phenomenon of the re-popularity of 1977—1980 Indonesian music, especially the music of Gank Pegangsaan. The Alunan Nusantara group as an agent that plays a role in the re-popularization of this music is the main object of this research. Afterwards, this group is adjusted to the concept of habitus, and analyzed with nostalgia theory. This research is a qualitative research with some method, such as participatory observation, interview, and literature study. The concludes from this research is: 1) Alunan Nusantara introduce 1977—1980 Indonesian musical tastes through interesting Instagram content, 2) the parents of each Alunan Nusantara’s actor played an important role in sharing their nostalgia, 3) Indonesian music from 1977—1980, namely Gank Pegangsaan, is the peak of creativity of Indonesian musi. This can be seen through the lyrics and musical arrangements, which are different from Indonesian musics in general at that time and are heavily influenced by progressive rock’s element. Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merumuskan konsep dan metode revitalisasi ritual mitembeyan meuseul sebagai upaya pelestarian nilai-nilai kearifan budaya lokal masyarakat petani Sunda di tengah perubahan sosial budaya akibat modernisasi pertanian, serta mendiseminasikan hasil revitalisasi melalui media digital. Modernisasi pertanian melalui penggunaan mesin penggiling gabah (huller) telah menyebabkan memudarnya praktik ritual mitembeyan yang sebelumnya menjadi bagian integral dari sistem kepercayaan, kosmologi, dan kehidupan komunal petani. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnografi yang dilakukan di Dusun Sindang, Desa/Kecamatan Rancakalong, Kabupaten Sumedang. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi partisipan, wawancara mendalam, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), dan studi pustaka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa revitalisasi ritual dilakukan melalui rekonstruksi bentuk otentik berbasis memori kolektif, reaktualisasi tahapan ritual, serta penggalian kembali makna simbolik dan nilai kearifan lokal yang mencakup nilai spiritual-religius, keselarasan dengan alam, dan solidaritas sosial komunal. Dokumentasi ritual melalui platform YouTube berfungsi sebagai arsip visual sekaligus strategi adaptif pelestarian budaya di era digital. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa revitalisasi ritual mitembeyan meuseul merupakan bentuk modernisasi selektif yang memungkinkan masyarakat petani mempertahankan identitas budaya dan nilai-nilai fundamental tanpa menolak kemajuan teknologi. Kata kunci: revitalisasi budaya, ritual mitembeyan, kearifan lokal, pertanian tradisional, media digital. Abstract: This study aims to formulate concepts and methods for revitalizing the mitembeyan meuseul ritual as an effort to preserve local cultural wisdom among Sundanese farming communities amid socio-cultural changes caused by agricultural modernization, as well as to disseminate the revitalization outcomes through digital media. The introduction of rice milling machines (hullers) has gradually diminished the practice of mitembeyan, which was previously an integral part of farmers’ belief systems, cosmology, and communal life. This research employs a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach conducted in Sindang Hamlet, Rancakalong Village/Subdistrict, Sumedang Regency. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, Focus Group Discussions (FGD), and literature review. The findings indicate that ritual revitalization was carried out through reconstructing its authentic form based on collective memory, reactualizing ritual stages, and reinterpreting symbolic meanings and local wisdom values, including spiritual-religious beliefs, harmony with nature, and communal social solidarity. Digital documentation via YouTube functions as a visual archive and an adaptive strategy for cultural preservation in the digital era. The study concludes that revitalizing the mitembeyan meuseul ritual represents a form of selective modernization that enables farming communities to maintain cultural identity and fundamental values without rejecting technological advancement. Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat kedudukan ritual numbal dalam posisisnya dari keseluruhan upacara ruwatan bumi. Hal tersebut menyebabkan penulis berkeinginan untuk mengkaji mengenai ritual numbal dengan permasalahan sebagai berikut: 1) bagaimana memahami ritual numbal yang terdapat dalam upacara ruwatan bumi sebagai tinjauan gejala liminalitas?. Adapun metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode kualitatif, dengan mengambil lokasi di Kampung Banceuy Desa Sanca Kecamatan Ciater Kabupaten Subang. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi non partisipan, wawancara tidak terstruktur, dan dokumentasi. Analisis yang digunakan adalah sebagai berikut: 1) reduksi data, 2) penyajian data, dan 3) kesimpulan. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori liminalitas dari Victor Turner, masyarakat Kampung Banceuy mengalami kegelisahan yaitu “taun kolot kudu dingorakeun deui” (Tahun tua harus dimudahkan kembali). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, 1) Ritual numbal dapat mengatasi kekhawatiran masyarakat Kampung Banceuy, 2) ritual numbal memiliki kedudukan yang penting yaitu sebagai inti dari pelaksanaan upacara ruwatan bumi. Kata Kunci: Numbal, Ruwatan, liminalitas  ABSTRACTThis research aims to see the position of numbal ritual in its position on the entire Ruwatan Bumi ceremony. This causes the writer wishes to study the numbal ritual with the following problems: 1) how to understand the numbal ritual contained in the Ruwatan Bumi ceremony as a review of the symptoms of liminality. The method that been used in this research is a qualitative method, located in Banceuy Village, Sanca Village, Ciater District, Subang Regency. The techniques that been used to collect data in this research were non-participant observation, unstructured interviews, and documentation. The analysis that been used in this research are as follows: 1) data reduction, 2) data presentation, and 3) conclusion. This research used the theory of liminality from Victor Turner, the people of Kampung Banceuy are having a concern of “taun kolot kudu dingorakeun deui” the (Old years must be made young again). The results showed that, 1) numbal ritual can overcome the concern of the people of Kampung Banceuy, 2) numbal ritual has an important position as the core of the Ruwatan Bumi ceremony. Keywords: Ritual, Ruwatan Bumi, Liminality
