Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of the Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, Create (RADEC) learning model on critical thinking skills. This study used a nonequivalent control group design. SDN in Cluster III, Banjarsari District became the population in this study. The sample was obtained through cluster random sampling technique with the results of SDN Sumber 2 as the experimental class and SDN Tirtoyoso as the control class. The research instrument was a descriptive test that measured four indicators of critical thinking skills, namely analysis, problem-solving strategies, clarification, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the average post-test score of the experimental class increased significantly. These findings indicate that the active and systematic application of the RADEC model can encourage students to think more reflectively, analytically, and creatively in understanding the diversity of Indonesian culture.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Speaking skills are skills that every individual must have. As with other skills, speaking skills need to be honed so that people can master them well. After online learning in 1st grade to 3rd grade, students are less competent in speaking. Therefore, action needs to be taken to improve students' speaking skills. There are several ways to improve speaking skills, one of which is by implementing the active debate learning model. The active debate learning model is an active learning model that involves two camps as a pro team and a con team. Learning with this model requires students to speak to convey their arguments. Research was conducted on the utilization of the active debate learning model, with the objective of enhancing students' speaking proficiency. This study was part of Classroom Action Research, employing the performance method. As the debate learning model begins, there are seven aspects of assessing students' speaking skills, they are: 1) courage to appear, 2) diction, 3) intonation, 4) volume, 5) articulation, 6) speaking fluency, and 7) understanding of the material. The results of research using the active debate learning model were that students' skills increased from 64.3% in cycle I to 82.14% in cycle II. Therefore, it can be inferred that implementing the active debate model has the potential to enhance students' oral communication abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to (1) describe the form of error in the conclusion of the mathematical story of scale matter experienced by students based on Newman's theory, (2) describe factors causing the occurrence of error. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study research design. Subjects in this study were fifth grade students at Tegalsari elementary school. Data collection techniques using written test results and interviews. Data validity testing techniques using triangulation techniques and sources. Data analysis techniques using Miles and Huberman analysis, consist of (1) data collection, (2) data reduction, (3) data presentation, and (4) conclusion drawings. Most mistakes were found in the writing of the conclusion with a presentation of 31.5%. Then the error of understanding was found at 30.5%, error of process skills at 20%, and error of reading at 10.5%. While the transformation error was the least mistake experienced by the students with the presentation of 7.4%. The factors that cause the mistakes are the understanding of the student related to the material, the understanding the student of the story and the severity of the learner in solve the story, and the training of the teacher about the story.
